| | A Letter To SPCA (And A Call For Suggestions)
Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing pertinent to an incident which had me, and perhaps other people as well, traumatized.
Last evening, which was Tuesday the 30th of September 2008, I saw an
adult man kicked a cat maliciously and slaughtered the feline to its
death - right in public. As I weakly regain myself from the shock, the
man picked the helpless animal by its leg and attacked its neck using a big knife. The cat wriggled in pain and tried a fragile escape, yet the
man kicked it again and jammed its head with his knife and leg.
His action of slaughtering the animal seemed intentional as he was
prepared with a big knife in one hand and a red plastic bag in another.
When he had finished the cat's life, he picked the cat up and simply
put its dead body into the red plastic bag.
People around me saw what happened but couldn't do anything. The man
was armed and if he could be so heartless to such adorable, defenceless animal, one
can guess how far he could react if his aim was hindered. I ran to a
salesperson at the nearby shop, unfortunately he merely shrugged and
told me this happens a lot in that specific area.
The incident happened at Jalan Seri Sarawak 18, Taman Seri Andalas
Klang. You must discern that this part of Taman Seri Andalas contains
mainly shophouses. The residents there are a mixture of the locals and
immigrants.
It had been unfortunate enough to always be acknowledged by many people
that dogs and cats alike are killed for dinner and lunch.
Witnessing a brutal, heartless murder just so one can save on chicken
expenditure is unforgivable. Perhaps this has become a trend there as
this man caught his dinner in public without guilt traced on his face.
He simply smiled to the people around as if he was just plucking a leaf
from a tree.
I am deeply disturbed by this incident and I seek your help to look
into this matter - not only on my behalf but also on the behalf of
other witnesses and the innocent animals themselves. I would be
grateful if you could provide me guidance on the right body or society
to turn to, in order to file a complain such as this.
I look forward to hearing from you. Your time spent in looking into this matter is highly appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Khadijah
P/S to my readers; Animals
can learn, but it is not by learning that they become dogs,
cats, or horses. Only man has to learn to become what he is
supposed to be. - Eric Hoffer
