"I should be thinking about marriage" -sister

huh what!? already?! you're only 22!!!!

Ai curumba.. it seems as you leave your little nest called high school.. the stats of marriage get higher and higher. I even know a few people my age poppin out kids already.

So my sister and her boyfriend have been going out for 4 years now.. and she explained her reasoning to me.

"I'm almost 23.. I told Damian I want to be engaged by 25.. save up for the wedding.. and by 27 I'll be ready. Hella people my age are already getting married. I still feel young!"

That's 2 years from now.... duude.. I'm not that far behind her. I'm only 2 1/2 years younger than her.

Am I going to have to think about marriage in 3 years??????????

Joon & Jess's Anniversary & Valentine's Celebration 2007

This is such a late post.. but it's an important one!

February 8th, 2007 was our 3 year Anniversary!! Holy crap 3 years already? It really doesn't seem that long! Since the 8th didn't lie on a friday or saturday.. we decided to celebrate it on the following weekend.

We started off the night at a trendy restaurant called Levende Lounge in the city. We both had the yummy Fillet Mignon.

Then off to the Jazz club! We sipped some wine and martinis as we listened to some Latin Jazz.

We decided not to get each other expensive gifts this year, knowing both our birthdays are coming up. But my sweetie still got me this!---

and a sweet photo album to record past memories and create new ones!

he even personalized the bag hehe.. so cute!

and I made him a shadow box

It was such a romantic and fun night!! The perfect way to celebrate our special day

Then came Valentine's Day the next week. After the spending some scrilla on our Anniversary.. we decided to keep it low key for v-day. So we made it intimate; Joon cooked steak for us, we popped a bottle of wine, and listened to some oldies.

It was awesoooome :)))))

Man.. it's been 3 years already? It seems like just yesterday when you still had your dell-slow and I would lie to come out and see you. We've been through alot. Lots of ups and downs.. but we've grown so much together. We know all the funny little likes and dislikes of each other. I loveloveloveloveeeeee you!

---on another note--
oh crud.. I'm not going to be a teen in 5 days *sniff

They call me Jessie.. because I'm a boy

Of course I love being a girly girl.. I love to dress up.. put on makeup and heels and paint the town red. But on my off days.. I'm laid back and chill.. almost like a little boy.

As Simone Tom says.. "If I can describe Jessica, I'd say.. she's a boy!" hahahahah thanks Simone!

I hear it from countless amounts of people..

My friends: "You need to drink more.. because you're a man!" The only reason I can drink more than my all of my girls is b/c of you guys are all so tiny and I'm huge next you you guys!

My bf: "You punch harder than some of my friends." If you know me and I'm comfortable around you.. fact: you've probably been hit by me. (I'm a bit aggressive)

My family: "When you were like 3 you used to wear these van looking slip on tennis shoes with Michaelangelo (from Ninja Turtles) EVERYDAY." This is true.. Ninja Turtles was my ULTIMATE favorite show when I was little. I remember going to pre-school fitted out.. head-to-toe in Ninja Turtle gear.. from my shoes to my sweatshirt.. and even my backpack.

and might I add.. I'm pretty damn excited for the new Ninja Turtles Movie coming out soon!!!! It's computer animated instead or those retarded costumes hahahahhaha

And.. one of my current favorite TV shows is Avatar: The last Airbender

*sigh.. why is my biggest resemblance an 8 year old boy

30's the new 20

--Jay-z

When you're younger, you don't understand much until you've either experience certain things or your environment provides certain examples. Teachers would always ask, as far back as middle school, what you think your life will be like in 5, 10, 15 years.  Everyones' answer, including mine, would be something like, "After high school I'll go to college, spend 4 years there, then when I'm 22 I'll get a job, settle down, then by 25/26 I would want to be married, 27/28 start having kids, etc."

As I approach 20 (holy crap.. I'm not gona be a teen), I'm beginning to think that this "life plan" is a little too far fetched. For some, they're right on track (more power to ya), but for a lot of people, my age or older, they're just getting started.

I was ignorant towards a lot of things when I was younger.. as is everyone. I used to have a certain perspective towards people who went to community college, quit school to work, took time off of school, etc., anything that wasn't a part of this "life plan" a lot of students had in mind. When I used to hear, "Yeah.. this is her 4th year at community college," I'd think, "damnn.. hella long," but now that I'm actually experiencing life as a college student, I'm learning from not only my own experiences, but the experiences of everyone around me. Of course there are people who have everything yet do nothing, but I have a new found respect for the the student who has to cut their units to help out the family, for the student who financially puts themselves through school, for the student attending their 4th year at community college for whatever conflict life has sprung upon you. Getting started a little late isn't that bad.

Sh*t happens.. life doesn't always go as planned.

Life.. it's so complex!!!

This past year has made me think really hard about so much; life, death, family, careers, money, self habits, and the list goes on and on. There's so much to think about and plan, but so little time. Each path you take can lead you to a different road in life, with different obstacles. And the most important thing myself and all of you should remember is.. EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS HARD. There IS no easy way out. Unless you want to be poor and die soon. haha jk.

But really, a lot has happened these past one or two years that were real eye openers. I've realized that subconsciously I have always tried to find the easy way out, and this semester has slapped me in the face and woken me up. Not that the classes are deathly hard, but to be back in study mode (or maybe even for the first time) is something I'm struggling to uphold. I regret to say.. starting from about 7th grade and all through high school, I started not to try or care to put in the slightest effort. Therefore, making a lot of the basic skills needed to study and interpret things slowly disintegrate. I've forgotten how to study!! Not completely, but it is difficult to get into the habit of reading everyday and trying to memorize what you've read. The human mind is like the human body; to maintain strength you must work it out! It's all about repetition. I'm not there yet.. but I am trying! And I will get there damnit!!!! I have to!!!!! I've been told that study habits will get easier over time. So far, I think I'm doing fairly well in school, as oppose to my most recent years.

Deciding what to do in life as a profession is megf*ckinghard. To choose for passion? Or stability? For comfort? Or for money? There's so many things you can do.. and I just don't know where to start. And it all falls back to not trying in high school.. I don't know what I'm good at! Everything seems interesting to me, and I'm running out of time. Already in my second year of community college.. and there's no time to spare. Subconsciously I find myself going towards the sciences.. but I haven't really been exposed to the business world, which also seems interesting. In the back of my mind there has always been the thought of becoming a pharmacist. I've been encouraged by my aunt since junior year of high school.. repeatedly telling me, "It's a great job for women. It has a very flexible schedule which you can work around your children's agenda when you're older. You can work maybe 3-4 times a week and still make about 70 grand. I think you'd be really great at it" It does sound appealing.. but again I didn't really pay attention in chem during HS. And science majors seem so hard! SO again.. still back to square one. I am definitely going to try and figure this out soon though.. maybe by this year or next?

LIFE IS SHORT.

Recently, I've experienced a death of a close family friend "aunt". It's probably the closest I've come to a death in the family so far. She was a GREAT woman. Greater than most.. she was so caring, giving, selfless, and extremely generous. My mom knew her back when she was about 19, so you can imagine how close our families were. I used to be tight with her daughter. Dancing hula for 6 years with each other brought our families even closer. Although these past couple of years our families weren't as close, ever since I took a break from dancing, it was still a great shock. I still can't believe she's gone. R.I.P Aunty Anna. You are missed very much.
When you're little you think you're invincible. Sometimes people even my age or older think they are. Not believing that you'll get hit by a bus and not be injured.. but the subconscious feeling of "I'm young.. it'll never happen to me." Reality is it can or will. Time is flying quicker than it ever has in my life. Experiencing this recent transition (HS to college) has made me realize there are TONS of transitions one person experiences in life. Right now it seems like it'll only go downhill from here (or so I've heard from many older people). Going from the high school life: having little money that would support your after school meal or whatever, having an excessive amount of free time, attending lunchtime was all you had to do to see all of your friends, to the college life: having to pay for school (books and such.. which accumulates to hundreds of dollars), and having to make lunch dates with your best friends (the ones who are still around atleast) to even see them once after a couple of weeks, seems pretty shitty to me! Ok ok.. I'm not totally pessimistic or anything.. of course there ARE good things right now.. I'm JUST SAYING. Of course there are a tremendous amount of UPs we're going to encounter.. but during, in between, or after we're gonna experience (not in a specific order) --> college to "real life", building your OWN life as in career/money etc., marriage, finding a home (a real one you've actually bought with your own money) children, life w/o your children (starting their own transitions), menopause, retirement, becoming a grandparent and the list goes on!

Yeah.. so I've realized I've rambled on quite a while with this entry.. half of you are probably either Xed this box or fell asleep haha. But it's just stuff that's been on my mind for a while now. Life is GREAT.. but scary at the same time. You never know how it's gonna turn out...

...and the journey continues!

peace out!!
