    College Ruled

You know this college stuff isn't so bad ... I think I've got everything planned out. Well, at least I think so. Here are my choices: Cal Poly SLO, CSU Long Beach, Cal Lutheran, CSU Sacramento(doubts about this one though). I talked to my counselor last week and everything seems to be just fine. She helped me decide which school best fits my graphic design major. It turns out that CSU Long Beach is the best place to start.

My counselor also said I was still UC-eligible. That doesn't really matter to me now because I've pretty much made up my mind. But in the next few days I have to ...
    - Transfer my geography credits from Oxnard College to my high school transcript, otherwise I can't graduate. And that would be a huge bummer.
    - Finish filling out the damn applications; they're confusing and I'm probably going to get some help filling it out on Wednesday.
    - Look for scholarships ... not a fun task. I did a little search yesterday but it didn't get anywhere.
    - Visit these campuses; I've probably missed all the open house dates, damnit.

There's no school/screen printing tomorrow. Hip hip hooray. It's the best time to start that essay of mine. But of course, I'll end up doing something fun or not.

If anyone on here cares, Pismo was this weekend and we brought home the third place trophy. I am a little disappointed but it's okay because we did improve a lot from Loera and that's really all that makes a difference. Aside from the competition, I had a good time. I'm glad I got to play my clarinet for my last Pismo Competition. Screw the judge that said I was playing too loud.

Jazzy finally communicated with me via telephone. She brought up an interesting proposition. She's going to Italy and Greece in the summer(something like that) and she asked me if I wanted to come along. I wouldn't mind taking a trip, at all. It might be just the thing I need to jump start my future. I still have not asked. Nor have I considered the financial aspect of this proposal. So nothing is official. But I'm still excited, nonetheless.

The future is bright, my friends. I'm looking forward to it all.

Eye Candy: A little something I did a while back. I was playing around with the pen tool. Yes, I'm quite rusty.

  • I Want Candy

Interesting weekend. Weekends I should say.
Last Saturday, us band nerds went to a parade competition in Loera. We placed third, which is that bad considering how much practice we had. I still wished we would have done better. Anyways, I got a copy of all the score sheets and it seems like we need more improvement in our musicianship. Indeed, we will take the criticism to our advantage by improving on our weak points. Also after this band review, I realized that I am really out of shape. I should start biking again.

I'm never getting a Vivianno drink from Starboooks again.

We were also lead on a wild goose chase for Wal-mart. And I forgot my sunblock.

Today (when I say today I mean Monday because I just barely finished this blog a week later) was peculiar. I forgot that I had to go take pictures for Yearbook at the Riverridge gold course. Edo and I ended up leaving school early so that we could get over there in time. We got a ride in one of them golf carts. It was exhilarating/dangerous ... dangerous because I wasn't supposed to sit in the back where I could've easily slipped off. Don't worry I didn't roll down any hills (I got to run up a hill though!). Anyways, I got a few pictures of the girls playing golf. I think finding them was the hardest task of all. I swear, I asked like six different groups of people. After a few minutes of running around the golf course, we found them! By the end of the day, we had our pictures and started heading back to the car. We didn't have a ride back so we walked. More exercise ... yay.

My Halloween was pretty average. I wish I had gotten a Willy Wonka outfit together sooner. It would have been fun. Oh well, there's always next Halloween!

Also another exciting event! On Wednesday, I got to print! Finally. I used up at least ten test sheets before it was perfect. I used a Regina Spektor image; it took some time to cut out the stencil but I'm happy with the end product though and that's really all that matters.

I have been swedish fish-deprived for at least a month now.

I woke up to the sound of the rain. The sound of the rain droplets against my window is such a calming sound. Don't you agree?

Woo! No school for me today.

I still have my ROP class in Camarillollo (it's like bananananana ... Demetri Martin thing) though. Actually, the big test is today so I'm pretty hyped almost screen printing. I'm pretty sure I will pass too, so no worries there.
I had a good time in class last night too. I met some new people in the class. I even got to participate in some of the setup for a print job. All quite enjoyable.

I don't have any homework to finish on this brief day off of school but I do have to prepare for the Hamlet scene presentations. Okay, we freakin' screwed ourselves over with this project. For one, we haven't even run through the scene together yet. So to resolve this, I think we will have to wing this thing. But I will still have my swordfish sword. I'm thinking of paper mache-ing it. I'll see how that turns out.

Speaking of Hamlet and performing it on a stage, look at these prison inmates reenact their own performance of this popular Shakespeare tragedy, not bad at all!

I'm getting quite agitated with my mom. She insists that I take the written driver's test today when I haven't even read up on the rules of the road. So, I am "cramming" whatever I can right now. Insanity.

Funny thing is, I can't even see myself driving. But after waiting countless hours for a ride; I guess it is best that I start now before I become that loser that walks around with a inflatable unicorn under her arm (that actually happened to me; it was after the VC fair and I had no ride home).

    'Tis unmanly grief.

Succotash my Balzac, dipshiitake. I just closed the window to a decently long blog

So, a little about my academics and some other things in between. In English, I am going to play the role of King Claudius in Shakespeare's Hamlet (Act I, Scene ii). No one else wanted the part because the first 80 lines or so of that scene was that of the king's. So I took the initiative and decided that I would play Claudius, on one condition: if I get a mustache, a crown and a swordfish sword (a real one preferred but paper-mache will suffice).

I also finally watched episode two of season five of the Office on the intraweb. I was looking forward to watching it on the television but it turns out that we no longer have cable. It 'tis a sad occurence. I can no long watch my favorite afternoon cartoons.

It finally feels like winter. I can finally dust the cobwebs off of my mock turtlenecks and scarves. "I love it!"** as Carlos would say.

** Correction: This should say "I love those mock turtlenecks!" because I don't want to misquote anyone. Hey, I got the general idea.

Today, I unofficially joined the choir.

Yesterday, I set out to get Rocky (my best friend!) a birthday present. I dare not speak of it on this blog just in case she actually reads this thing. Anyway, I really think she will really like it. I've had this gift planned months ago. I was going to just purchase it on eBay but it would come in too late ... and I hate giving late birthday gifts. But I like receiving late birthday gifts. Like on my 16th berfday Mel gave me my 6 month late present (it was a Hot Hot Heat CD, it's okay, but to be frank, I don't listen to it much). That was a nice surprise, indeed.

So, Carlos and I are at Salzars just browsing through the DVD's and CD's when I saw anime porn? The whole deal was quizzical to me. Why would you want to watch animated naked people? But then Carlos explained that "it doesn't really matter as long as there's big tits". Whatever, I still think that it's absurd.

After that, I continued looking for that Chicago record. Rocky had found it there the last time we visited Salzars. She didn't get to buy it for some unknown reason so I attempted to find it and include it in her present. I got really tired of looking after thumbing through five bins of records. And I realized that the prices of the records were waaay overpriced ... that or I'm really cheap. Just a few weeks ago, I found a Carol King record at the new thrift store near the five-point intersection for 50 cents. I actually went pretty crazy there. I ended up getting a Bob Dylan's "Nashville Skyline", Bruce Springsteen's "Darkness on the Edge of Town" and this Les Paul and Mary Fonda record (I thought the cover looked pretty neat). Oh and not to forget the flute and harpsichord duet record ...

Note to Carlos: thanks for taking me around town these past two days. I had a grand time hanging out with you. We just got some Haagen Daaz ice cream (coffee flavor!) ... I promise to share with you the next time you get a chance to come over. "I think I'll get a Big Dipper!" I'll make my own big dipper.

Moving on, so today was a different story. I woke up late as usual. I forgot that my pretty much all of my cousins have stayed over for the night so I was perplexed by all the commotion goin' on in the room next to mine. I didn't eat breakfast so, I ended up doing my Government assignment in the comfort of my oven of a room. After an hour or so, my mom comes in and tells me that I should go with her to church and play/practice my instrument.

As some of you may know, I've picked up the tenor saxophone this year and I'm quite fond of it. So I decided to bring the sax instead of my clarinet. All in all, I ended up playing with the choir. And I loathe every minute of it. The conductor sucks at his job. And they didn't give me the songs being played ahead of time so I ended up transposing most of the songs. I decided to only play one number with them and instead I would *sing* for the rest of mass. I cringe at the fact that I actually sang ... I can't barely sing in English so I predicted that singing in Vietnamese wouldn't be that great either. And I was right. Well, on the bright side, I get to learn more of my native language while I'm singing. So, there ... I joined the choir on this fine Sunday. Damn, I better get into heaven if there is such a place in existence. Not only that but I've also been an 'altar slave' for the longest time.

    -----

I've decided to pursue a career in graphic design. It's final. I'm not changing my mind beyond this point. I'm glad that I've actually made a decision *pats self on back*.

  • Electronic Fly Swapper

The Large Hadron Collider broke today. Oh, I gotta tell my physics teacher about this! He'll be so depressed. The old man spent half the period talking about the machine.

I have three different web browsers on my compy. I don't think I like this updated version of Internet Explorer. The page keeps blanking out on me.

Mhm, earlier I had to set up a fly trap. The thing smells horrible but I guess flies are attracted to pungent aromas. I also killed one the largest flies I've ever seen. I've got this tennis racket looking fly swapper that has shocking properties. So it's like playing tennis with a ball that has wings. Oh, the inventions these days. And what's even more hilarious is the fact that we purchased it at Ross.

So instead of working on my essay like a good little school girl ... I was just swatting flies.

I've also developed a new interest in pancake-making. And they turned on right this time. I'm even getting better at flipping the 'jacks.

    Oh, how I loathe Mondays

Today was indeed a manic Monday. I'm at home right now because my stomach was aching pretty badly a while back. I couldn't sit still through first and second period. Luckily, it's gone away but my face started to get extremely itchy.

I also discovered that they switched my schedule around! I now have Physics second period and Calculus fourth period. What the hell is up with that? They didn't even have someone send a note from the office or anything.

When I got home I just channel-surfed for a while. Ate my lunch. Took an Advil.

I have that Screen printing class tomorrow night! I didn't go last Wednesday because there was a band booster meeting. I seriously want to start printing already but we have to pass this test in order to commence with the printing. I don't really like getting out of class feeling really groggy then having to go home to finish off the rest of my normal school work. I'm hoping that it's all worth it in the end.

I'm still wondering why my stomach was hurting ... am I allergic to fish? 'Cause I had fish for dinner last night. But it also could have been the oatmeal I had in the morning. I don't know how long that was on the shelf, but oatmeal usually has very late expiration date.

Well, I better go get some stuff out of the way so I can just sit on the couch and eat ice Popsicles all day. I hope y'all having a good day!

    ZzZzZzZz

I finished my homework and so I'm rewarding myself with a blog.

So it's the second week of school, and I already feel a slight drag. Especially with the new rules the school's enforcing ... like the in-school suspension when you're late to your first period. I am definitely effected by this damn rule. I have trouble waking up sometimes in the morning (especially yesterday when I had the Screen printing class and I didn't get home until ten) also not to mention my house is like on the outskirts of Oxnard. But luckily, I've been "HOT" (here on time) for the most part. And I hate having Government in the morning. For one, Mrs. Davis's voice is irritating. And I sit almost right in front of her. I guess that's my wake up call.

At my grandma's house, I was watching Mermaids again. It gets quirkier every time. It's a nice just-to-pass-the-time kind of movie. Winona Ryder plays a 15-year-old girl who aspires to become a nun. And the nuns in the movie, seemed too happy. They were prancing around in the fields of the convent as Winona Ryder peers at them from afar. Makes me want to be a nun too*. SIIIKKKEEEE. I would consider that if my life is falling apart and I am in need of spiritual guidance. So no offense to all the cool nuns out there ... like Whoopie Goldberg (or however you spell her name).

Now, I'm going to give Carlos a call before I get too sleepy to understand what we're talking about. Toodles.

    * DO, a deer a female deer, RE of the golden sun, MI a name I call myself, FA a far long way to go, SO a note to follow FA ... and I forgot the rest. I was listening to The Sound of Music when I was doing the homework. Totally, irrelevant aside from the fact that there's nuns in that movie too! Whatta nun-filled blog.

    Out, about and stout

Sorry about the title, I was having a Dr. Seuss moment. *decrescendo-ing laugh*

So school started. It was "like whatever". They put me in Yearbook and P.E. and I have decided to keep Yearbook and just take P.E. next semester. I hope that works out alright. Anyways, the wait was extraordinarily long. My trip to the office was even longer when I found out that Koreisz wasn't even my couselor which was pretty stupid ... so I had to wait on someone else.

I've also been busy with this screenprinting class at The Camarillo Airport. It's an ROP class and yeah, there are a bunch of hooligans that take the classes to catch up on their credits. I took the class because I've always wanted to learn plus I've seen instructions on sites like instructables but I never actually got a chance to get my hands on the right equipment. My teacher's name is Mr. Reyes; he's apparently been doing this for over twenty years so he's pretty experienced. He's a cool old fart too. I laugh everytime when he says "Listen up, guys! This is gospel!" before he explains the importance of doing this and that. It's hilarious. Nonetheless, I am excited about screenprinting my first shirt. I can incorperate things that I've done on Photoshop too; so that's also another thing to look forward to.

Earlier, I was cleaning my room so that I could make room for my new bookshelf! My dad, myself, and my brothers spent all day Sunday constructing the damned thing (we even skipped out on Vietnamese mass! Zoinks!) and so my dad just finished putting on the finish yesterday. The house reeks but the shelf is friggin' neat. So I am supposed to be cleaning the remains of my cozy room but I distracted by rice cakes and xanga. It was a pain in the ass to erase all the pictures that were drawn on my wall ... my dad got semi-pissed about that. So Trogdor is no longer with us along with his other friends.

I need to do some Calculus before I get lazy and tired. The class doesn't seem too bad; the teacher's a sweet lady ... well so far.

Monday was neat-o. Got to visit the new thrift store with Sharra and Aaron. I splurged but only spent like ten bucks! Ah, the beauty of being thrifty. It was a nice way to end the summer.

Well, here's some eye candy. That's what the shelf looks like, if you're wondering at all. And it's not really finished here but you get the general idea.

    P8252424

And some pictures from the car wash. Which went pretty well for a weekday. We made $151.

    The crew!

Our first car. Maybe I shouldn't have worn those licorice shoes of mine. Aaron said I look like a burn patient. I'll just continuing wearing my converse in that case.

    P8232413
And me (really tired ... can't you see the strain?), we sat around for another hour or so before we packed up and left.

    Whelps, that's all folks.

  • Ain't It Strange

    Aren't they the coolest?

    Ain’t it strange
How everybody says I love you
    Ain’t it a shame
How a word can tell you more than words can say
    I need you here

    Ain’t it strange
‘Cause I’m always thinking of you
    Ain’t it a shame
How a thought can catch the breeze and blow away
    I need you here

Oh but I know how bad it can get
    But I don’t mind
    Baby I don’t mind
But I know how soon you’ll forget me
    But time keeps blaring
Baby time takes care of me

    Ain’t it strange
How a man who lives for nothing can change
‘Cause if he stays the same he’ll die a million days
    Year by year
    There’s a drain

At the bottom of the ocean
    And when it rains
We’ll get close to where the water meets the sky
    For you and I

Oh but I don’t know how far this could go
    But I don’t mind
    Baby I don’t mind
    There’s no use in saying
    That you’ve been straying
But even strangers know how strange it can be

    We’re only getting old
‘Cause that’s what we are told to do
But they sang to get through
But what’s that got to do with us
So go on and work it out
