All the way from Baltimore!

hey hows everyone doing?

well i just wanted to share about everything that is happening here at hopkins. so the move-in to my dorm went well and everyone in my dorm is pretty cool and nice. the really awesome thing is that my resident advisor turned out to be a good christian and he invited me to his fellowship/church event. praise god for that because the rest of the week i realized something i wouldve never thought i would realize. so it was orientation week these past few days and ive been chilling with the people in my dorm house. theyre nice but the one thing i realized is that there is a serious lack of faithful christian - brian, my RA, was the only christian that i met all week. i mean, i knew that there were christian groups around the campus but not having people around who put their whole faith into the same thing and living for the same goal is though. every night they would invite me to frat parties and things of that sort. but the week went by pretty well but i really felt that they were influencing me.

but tonight i went to a praise night for a fellowship called stepping stone ministries. phil chan's friend and me RA invited me so i decided to check it out. people greeted me and everyone else. they started worshipping and it was weird. i was so happy just to see other believers around me because i was surrounded by the world all week long. and it was one of the best praise nights ive been to - not because the worship band was good or anything like that but just because i was able to worship with my voice and feel the love of the true fellowship aronud me. one fantastic thing that happened was that even though it was a praise night full of songs, i didnt sing much because of how joyful i was just to be in gods presence with other christians. i tried to sing but words just didnt come out and words couldnt express how great i wanted to tell god he was.

before coming to hopkins, i was worried about finding a group of friends that i can really hang out with. so i tried to really get to know different people in my dorm. i chilled with them a couple of times but it wasnt the same as fellowship between believers. but god answered my worries because i got to meet so many people who i can actually see sharing my life with and growing with. not to get me wrong, id still love to hang out with my dormmates, but im really happy to be in a church right now.

so i dont really know why im writing this, maybe because im that happy hahaha. but tonight was such a good refresher and i really experienced gods faithfulness. im reenergized.

my neighbor actually just came back from a party and came to my room. he had a few jello shots and said that he really didnt understand why he drinks because it just makes him depressed. theres my hook! more tales later!

Freedom Reings in this place
Showers of mercy and grace
Falling on every face
There is freedom

Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
So we lift our eyes to Jesus, there is freedom
So we lift our eyes to Jesus, there is freedom

words from samantha and her upcoming flight to panama

HEY GUYS!!!

I hope everything's going well!  Well, I've basically completed my full second day here at Teen Mania!!! There's a LOT that happened!!!

First off, I got to meet up with my MAG (mission advisory group). Let me admit, I was really scared because I have to lead four amazing girls and I am DEFINITELY not the best leader, I know. But thanks to God's grace, we've definitely bonded somewhat...

Unfortunately, one girl in my group (Karrie) have massive chest pains so she needed to go to the hospital to check that out.  Just pray that God looks after her and prepares her for what lies ahead (whether it be coming on missions with us or going back home).  I definitely feel as though today has challanged me.  I mean, I had to make four totally different grls bond, not only with each other, but with me.  I also had to look after Karrie, and I have also been assigned as a Travel Advisor; this means that as we travel to Panama, on the plane, I have the responsibility to look after a group of 5 people.  And praise God, it's given me yet another opportunity to meet awesome people.  I met one guy named Gordo, who is extremely funny and has a great heart.  Pray for him, too, if you don't mind!!!

Oh yeah, and the grls in my Missions Advisory Group are named Leigh Ella, Karrie, Sabrina, and Kirby.  Four awesome grls with awesome hearts.  Sometimes I feel younger than them, and I think sometimes they see that, too (although in reality I am older).  Just pray that I can really show them leadership and guide them spiritually!!!

Well... I'm headed of to Panama tomorrow and I'm definitely excited and nervous.  I'll be traveling around with my team, called Kairos.  The name means "it's the season", or something like that.  But the basic meaning is that it is OUR time to go out and change panama FOREVER!

It's definitely SO refreshing to meet so many christian with a heart for the WORLD!!!

I hope all is going well back where you guys are!!! please write AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! you can respond back to these letters and I'll get your letters.  However, when I'm in Panama, I don't know if I can write you back, but you guys can DEFINITELY still send me letters, which woult be much appreciated!!! Also, get other ppl to send stuff, k?!?!?!

Alright... i'm out!!! Time to get COMISSIONED!!! =)

I <3 you ALL!!!

From an aspiring World Changer,

Samantha
