| so crajee!ok, it's been forever since i last posted. just keeping busy. i could write about my baby joshua's milestones, or about how jonathan turned the big 3, or about many other important things, but instead i shall make my come-back entry about something much more interesting to y'all.... this is all a little too late, but still i just had to say..hello, Yuri from Kabba Modern is none other than my cousin!!! the resemblance in our dance moves is uncanny. it's a family thing folks. don't be haters. hahahaha. | | |
| while blowing his nose this morning, out popped a huge, bloodied booger! (okay, a little gross, but not too bad--plenty worse out there) "whoa, jonathan, look at that!" long, puzzled pause.... then he lit up. "wow, mommy, a cranberry!?!?" i'm so thankful...that he's got imagination, and more importantly, that didn't eat it!! | | |
| we've been teaching Jonathan to share toys, to not grab things away from people, and that he needs to wait and be patient. this is my guy before breakfast one morning last week. i promise, it was not rehearsed! subtitles: "Thank you God. Thank you for the day. Thank you Mommy and Daddy. Thank you for mahm-ma (food). Thank you for no pushing, just wait. No pushing, no grabbing. Just share. Obey. Share. Obey day. mumble-mumble-mumble Thank you for mahm-ma. Jesus' name. Thank you. Jesus' name, Amen. HAHAHAHA! | | |
| october turns out to be a great month to be a kid; there are so many fun activities to do out there! case in point, jonathan got to go to pumpkin patches all over the area, as well as to go trick or treating three times, go on an animal scavenger hunt at the zoo, and then do all sorts of fun carnival games on halloween night at a local church. it's been a great month for him! a while back a friend gave jonathan an extra setr of mr. incredibles pj's that she had left over. little did she know then that this ghetto mom would put them to great use as this year's ghetto fab halloween costume!!! all i had to do was make was a black mask (paper, glue, rubberbands) and we were set! (for this un-crafty mom, that's a pretty good job! jeff was thoroughly impressed! haha--such low standards!) and so, with the exception of the pumpkin patches, jonathan has worn this costume to every single outing this month. i thought he'd get tired of wearing the same costume, or not want to wear the mask, but he's learned that everytime he dons the apparel, he scores big time candy loot!--so needless to say, he loves wearing these pj's! (thanks 1,000,000, tina!!!) he had no idea who mr. incredibles was beforehand, so i pulled out the dvd to convince him it was all legit: excited about going trick or treating:
we do all our trick or treating at local downtowns. it's a great way to do it. no ringing strangers' doorbells, no walking in the dark, no going up to creepy houses. this year i found out about downtown livermore's big bash just in the nick of time so we rushed over to check it out. WOW-WEE! puppet shows, live music, booths, games, contests, food...plus all the trick or treating any kid could ever want! next year i'm definitely grabbing other moms and munchkins with me so we can all enjoy the festivies together. besides candy, jonathan got lots of other goodies. robeks handed out kid-sized strawberry smoothies: home depot gave us this cool apron: and a bookstore gave us this awesome book: so perfect for my truck-loving kid!!! hands down, his most favorite "treat".
taking a little break in downtown livermore he walked for two solid hours but didn't seem to mind at all. me, on the other hand, kept looking around for vacant benches to rest my weary legs. nevertheless, it was great fun! we also went to my sister's place to do more downtown trick or treating in her neck of the woods. jonathan loves every chance he gets to see his cousins.
here they are all happy to be together: and...not so much: keke..my nephew had a hard time balancing the weight of that doggy head on top of his!! (flashback to the chiquita banana lady)
| long, long time since i've written an entry. and despite it being busy and crazy lately, i'll admit there have been plenty of moments to write...just kinda felt like reading others' entries more than writing one of my own. xanga and i are continually on this on/off relationship. who knows, maybe we'll break up for good one of these days. ah well, this year is not even over and yet it'll probably go down as the one with most changes to date. at the beginning of year, my long-time friend joan and i sadly decided to let go of our baby shoe business. with both of us being preggers, we just couldn't muster up the energy to keep it going. it was a tough decision--for i loved our sweet little shop--but looking back, of course we both know we made the right decision. then we had the big move! we sold our house, bought a new one, and moved into an apartment while we completely gutted our new place. boy, i gotta say overseeing a remodel is a FULL-TIME job! actually, i should say full-time with daily over-time! those were some crajee days, but at the same time, i absolutely loved it! i had so much fun doing it. i learned so much along the way, and i realized how much i enjoyed project management. and i can't believe i lugged jonathan around everywhere with me during that time whilst being prego--i'm sure it was a sight to see (and probably not a good one either). in any case, we happily moved into our new home on-time and more importantly, on-budget, and quickly started the daunting task of unpacking and settling in. here are just a few ghetto fun before and after shots: FRONT BEFORE: FRONT AFTER: KITCHEN BEFORE: KITCHEN AFTER: FAMILY ROOM BEFORE: FAMILY ROOM AFTER: DINING ROOM BEFORE: DINING ROOM AFTER: BACKYARD BEFORE: BACKYARD AFTER: then as soon as we started to get settled and comfy in our new home, out popped joshua daniel oh! ah, the mesmerizing, sweet smell of a newborn--it's intoxicating. he's such a precious baby to us; he's an absolute joy and blessing. at the same time, it's been such a huge adjustment for us becoming a family of four...i'm soooo crazy tired from getting up for the night-time feeds and all i wanna do during the day is collapse into bed. but with an active toddler, i just can't. so i walk around like a zombie most days, with a tangled nest in my hair, spit up on my skin, and wearing the same clothes day after day. surprisingly, out of all of us, jonathan adjusted the best to this big change in our lives. he absolutely LOVES his younger brother, thinks he's so cute, and wants to kiss and touch him all the time! and so far, he hasn't had any bouts of jealously or acting up when we're loving on joshua--he just wants to love on him too! hope that keeps up for a loooo-oooong time! joshua's birth announcement: jonathan sees mommy nursing joshua and imitates what he thinks he sees...this is his version of nursing...uh yeah, that would be via belly button! NICE!
well with joshua now here, i realized that i desperately needed help keeping jonathan occupied and engaged during the day. so as a result, two things happened: 1. we enrolled jonathan in pre-school, and 2. i joined the pleasanton moms club. both of these entities have been such great resources!!! it took jonathan some time to adjust, but now he loves his school (as do i) and talks about it all the time. (it's only twice/week for 2 hours at a time tho) and through the moms club, we've joined a playgroup and have been on soooo many fun outings! seriously, why did i wait this long to join? all dressed and beautified for his first day of pre-school: the-over-the-shoulder model pose: pumpkin patch with his classmates: private fire station tour: and yes, we're still very much into music, dancing and rocking it out!
and just because this is hilarious... moms, you GOTTA check this out (actually, dads too!)
