| | My first 5k is only a little over 2 weeks away. My only goal at this point is to have fun and run the entire course without walk breaks. I'm not going to focus on speed yet, considering that back in May I could barely run for a consecutive 60 seconds. Part of me still doesn't believe I'm actually doing this, but I'm officially registered and ready to go.
Please feel free to contribute (secure, fast, and easy!) to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Great Kansas City Affiliate through my fundraising page: http://www.active.com/donate/KC2007/malyndaeshleman You'll be able to choose an amount to donate and receive email confirmation of your donation. Any amount, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help and generosity.
And of course your continued prayers and positive thoughts for my mother-in-law, Vicki, are appreciated as well. She is well into her series of chemotherapy treatments, experiencing hair loss as well as the other usual side effects. There was a scare several weeks ago when her white blood cell count dropped to dangerous levels and she had to be hospitalized for 2 nights. (Hospitalization would have been longer had there been health insurance.) Other than that, she's been in good spirits and seems to have a positive attitude through it all.
