[quotes]

So which shall we choose?

Experience or truth? The left wing of an airplane, or the right? Love or integrity? Study or service? Evangelism or discipleship? The front wheels of a car, or the rear? Subjective knowledge or objective knowledge? Faith or obedience?

Damn all false antitheses to hell, for they generate false gods, they perpetuate idols, they twist and distort our souls, they launch the church into violent pendulum swings whose oscillations succeed only in dividing brothers and sisters in Christ.

- D. A. Carson, Becoming Conversant with the Emerging Church : Understanding a Movement and Its Implications (Grand Rapids, Mich.: Zondervan, 2005), 234. (bold mine)

Now that's some conviction. Oh how much we need to remember that there's two sides to a coin!

I do my work yes siree

 [scripture] Colossians 3:23

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."

[log] Lately people have been making a lot of comments on the stuff I do for my school work. As I work hard on my projects, people look at them and say, "THAT'S what you do for school?" as if what I am doing is nothing at all important and comparable to what others do. Let me just say that being an Art major really pays off. Here's the last two projects I did to end my schooling here at UC Berkeley. ah, yes, praise the Lord. Praise the Lord indeed!

Thank you Lord! Good bye art projects, hello seminary!

[prayer request] oh how I need to learn grace, grace, grace. I have yet to see the fullness of it! Oh that God would pound out the fleshly legalism that taints my soul, oh that legalism that binds me to judge others and while I slowly die!

Pictures from Taiwan Pt. 1 - Overview

The Shims - This summer, we had the privilege of having the Shim kids with us while Pastor John was visiting Beijing as well as Cambodia. They're a cute bunch. Abby was part of the team, she was quite the holy one.

Quite adorable, just want to pinch her.

The Team - This summer, the Lord blessed us with some handsome young fellows.

We posed very well.

We read a lot.

Yet, we read so quick, we couldn't really catch a lot of people reading.

The English Camp - We had Candy and Vivian join us once again this summer. Though they called me a flying horse, they were still quite adorable. The ministry was quite intense, even though we some days we didn't have enough students. As you'll see, our teachers were quite passionate about teaching English. Maybe more so sharing the Gospel.

The Praise - We spent a lot of our free time just praising together. Our team had quite a bunch of talented people. From guitar, djembe, violin, piano, etc. Some of us even ventured to use our creativity to create new music for the Lord. Ask our brother DY for the new hit single in Taipei, Xao Xao Foo.

The Laughs - Boy did we have some good times.

The Rest - The Lord rested on the seventh day.

Indeed, every thought captive, even our dreams.

The leaders paved the way, the rest followed the example.

And now my favorite picture from Taiwan.

[scripture] 2 Timothy 2:13

"If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He can not deny Himself."

"Well, James, it seems like after 10+ yrs since your last dentist appointment, you have no gum disease, no cavities, and no problems with your wisdom teeth. Your teeth are in superb health, quite shockingly so."  -  Dr. Bill Cavali

Yes quite shocking. He attributes it to my genes; I attribute it to the faithfulness and goodness of God. I deserve rotten teeth for my horrible stewardship of my teeth (brushing once a day and at most flossing once a year), but the Lord's grace and mercy abounds. Praise the Lord!
