So it's been a while yet again for me to write in this thing.  Summer is over, and the fall semester is getting into full swing.  My entire summer consisted of working at the Visitor's Center and going to classes.  Definitely not what I'd call a "break."  I ended up getting a B+ in Italian 2, an A- in Speech, and an A in Italian 3.

This semester is going to be a challenge.  There are just so many things going on and not enough time to do them.  First, for the course load.  I am taking 13 hours this semester, which is actually my lowest yet.  I have Intro to Linguistics on MWF, it is hands down my favorite class.  I love linguistics.  And I'm such a dork about it.  Just ask Caroline or Summer, and they can tell you how ridiculously cute I get when talking about it.  Anyways...  For the TR schedule: I am also taking Critical Issues in Literary Study, which is a required course for Lit majors.  It's usually horrible, but I have a new professor and he's really cool.  I have a lot of fun in that class, it's pretty close to Linguistics for favorite class.  I also have Modern Italian Culture which is really interesting.  Then I have Italian Conversation, codename DEATH.  I suck is the basic problem with this class.  I have virtually no retention for foreign language vocabulary- it was true with Latin and it's true now.  All we do is talk.  And you kind of need to know words to talk.  So I'm screwed.  We have another vocab quiz tomorrow (our only written grades), the first of which I failed (and not my usual "fail" but a bona fide F), so the outcome of this one is up for grabs.  Oh yeah, and then I have Chiefs 5 days a week.

For any who did not know, I decided to try out for the Marching Chiefs this year and I made it!  It is definitely a time commitment, but totally worth it.  I performed in my first halftime show two weeks ago on the field at Doak and it was an experience I'll never forget.  We're going to Jacksonville this weekend to play Bama, and I'm really excited.  There's a meeting tonight about Seminole Sound, which is like the Pep Band that plays at the volleyball and basketball games.  I don't know if I really have time for it, but I think it'll be a lot of fun.  I'll go to the meeting at least.

I've also got a job this semester.  I am continuing to work at the Visitor's Center giving tours of the campus.  It's a good job, but having to work early in the morning is not my cup of tea.  So if there are any of you guys out there thinking about FSU (or just wanting to miss a day of school) you can come on down on MWF morning and I'll be here to give a tour (or at least talk to you for a while).

Yesterday I got back from the fall CSU retreat, which was amazing.  I was on the team for it, and it was such a rewarding experience.

Well, I need to get back to work.  Until next time...

    Today's the day.  The Midterm.

I've made notecards and I've been studying them while I'm at work today (though not right now...), so hopefully I'll be able to get an A on it like I need to.  Then this weekend is devoted to creating my part of the oral presentation for Tuesday on shopping-Italian style.

I'm super excited about it being Friday, especially once my midterm is over.  I'm getting really excited for summer c too because my Italian I friends will be back.  But man, tomorrow's Saturday and that means sleeping in !  Though my parents are leaving Sunday to go to Toronto for a week, so unfair.

I plan on having a nice relaxing week at my house by myself (since Christy will most likely be gone half the time).

    Yay for summer.

  • Well, I went and saw Pirates 3 for the second time yesterday, this time with my parents.  It was nice spending some time with them, I really love my family.  My dad grilled some hamburgers for dinner, and they were good despite his claims about having burned them.  Then it was movie night at Alicia's and we saw Jerry Maguire which I had never seen before.  All in all, a pretty decent Memorial Day.

Today I have class again...not that I'm complaining or anything, I just really like not doing anything.  Hopefully we'll get our tests back from Friday, I'm really hoping I did well on this one.  Our midterm is on Friday, so I'll actually be studying for that this week.

My room is still a complete disaster area, although I did clear off enough so that I can sleep in my bed.  I'll have to finish getting all of my stuff out of the family room today, but the actual room cleaning is so daunting, I'm really going to have to plan out how to do it...oh well.

So I am making my triumphant return to xanga.  I have been keeping up on reading everyone else's, but for some reason I haven't written anything for half a year.  Here's a brief synopsis of what has happened:

I did, in fact, survive my first year of college, and at FSU no less.  The end of my first semester I ended with a 4.0 GPA for 14 hours and made the President's List.  My classes were amazing, and I got closer to Sarah which was fantastic.  I realized that being lonely really sucks sometimes, and that if it weren't for my family and friends, I don't think my year would have turned out as well.  My second semester was not as good, I had some classes I didn't particularly care for, and I felt less connected to the people around me.  I ended up with a 3.96 GPA for 17 hours and made the Dean's List.  I now have a 3.97 overall GPA.

The summer is now getting started, and I'm as busy as ever.  I have my first job as a University Ambassador giving campus tours at FSU.  I tell you what, making money is not overrated.  I'm also taking summer classes, right now it's just Italian II, which is actually going to be do-able despite my initial reaction.  Although, classes are freakin' expensive.  So I might have to drop one for the next session.  But anyways...

I am having a lot of fun.  I've been hanging out with the church crowd practically all the time, which is awesome.  I want to get with the band kids, old and new, because I have hardly seen them.  Hopefully, I can figure out what I'm doing for the Pirates' premier before it happens.

    TTFN!  Ciao!

  • sometimes i really hate my life....

it's funny how one little thing can completely ruin any kind of good feeling i may be having.  actually, it's not funny.  i hate it.

    sigh...

well, tomorrow should be good, there are some friends that actually want to hang out with me, hopefully it will be fun.

why?....i can never seem to fit in really....all my friendships feel hollow, and they shouldn't.  i know they aren't really, but that's how i feel....

why do i never feel wanted?...
