Michael, Row the boat ashore........

flooded roadway and Michael said, I gotta find a shore first.  Once again, we're inundated, shouldn't complain......... we will be crying in August, but the storms last night, actually in two phases, one early and then the whopper over night, were pretty fierce.  Tornadoes everywhere.  Supposedly 5 highways were closed most of the night, with 5 and 6 inches of water standing on them.  The pic at the start of the blog is one of the flooded roads, they expect to be closed a week or so.  My clerk who lives near Cherokee Landing State Park on Lake Tenkiller's house flooded this time, and she's not in a low lying area.  The rain just came so fast and so hard.  We didn't flood, but have pools of water standing everywhere in our yard and the bar ditches are over flowing.

I guess a small town about thirty miles from here had a tornado go through it, don't know about any damage, other than it or the rain washed out a portion of the highway going through it.  One of Ben's employee's has to go through there and said the entire southern part of the county is pretty torn up.  I just pray for any who had damage to their homes.

The good news is this is supposed to clear our today and head east............. enjoy the rain Grampy, hope it is more calm than it was when it left here, and leaves the tornado's behind.

i see you are having a turn at the weather...seems to switch around every year which state is going to bear the brunt of it...KS last year, the gulf states before that and now you guys...a silver lining...the places torn up by tornadoes wind up better than before they got hit...i see it over and over and over again here in KS

@tialoca13 - That's usually true, but Adair county is the poorest county in the state, and as such, most people who aren't making a mortgage payment, do not have insurance and one of the biggest sources of income are the meth labs, so easy to hide them in the hills around eastern OK.  We'll probably see a lot of benefit dinners for victims in the area.  The good thing, is the ones who do have money in the area, have a lot and are always more than willing to share.

Goodness gracious!  I'm glad the tornado missed you though. It's crazy isn't it.  I appreciate your prayers for our teens.  You are so right about Satan working harder at a time like this.  It has been surprising how different and mean this child has been--but prayer changes things so I'm glad to have someone else agree in prayer with us.

@tialoca13 - I'll be glad when our year is up!!!!!!!!!

@roughstring414 - I'm glad it missed us too.  At one point Ben started telling me I needed to get my bath out of the way, before the storm hit.  I told him it was going to miss us and if God wanted me to come on home, he could take me just as I came into this old world.  He didn't think it was too funny.  It was headed right for us and took a turn somewhere.  I feel sorry for those who did get it, Oklahoma tornados can be pretty good size and come out of nowhere.

Looking at the radar, I just KNEW we would be awakened to some crashing and booming. It didn't happen....or I was too doped up from that Cough med I'm on to hear it  I didn't rain at all today..which they said ALL DAY rain. We had a burst of rain about 7:00 ish that lasted about 10 minutes. Looking at the radar, looks like one more spert in a little while, then I don't see anything behind it. The wind was AWEFUL today though. Bout blew this tall skinny feller over.  Still having a hard to getting around. I feel like an 85 year old man walking around these houses...prolly look like one too  Amazing how long that cough med stays in yuor system. I still can't shake this stupid fever either, unless I take ibuprofin every 4 hours, and I hate taking that even. It'll be nice to talk again without coughing the words out!  Really nerve racking when you're telling someone you need to measure their house for their insurance. They're like, "Spit it out man" ***rolls eyes*** Anyway, Karen fixed pot roast tonight, I haven't had an appetite for anything lately. I'm gonna REALLY be mad if IT doesn't taste good too. That new antibiotic I'm on may be messing with me. It's supposed to kill my CRUD.....NOT MY APPETITE! Sheeesh! Hope yall will get a break from the rain soon. Cya!

Awww Grampy, give the meds time, they will help, but it's just gonna take time.  That's why I usually just head straight for the docs office the minute I feel it coming on, and he gives me a shot.  I don't do well with meds that knock me out........... just can't seem to shake them and wake up, plus antibiotics have the same effect on me, icky tummy, the don't even want to eat but have to eat to take the meds.  I had to go two rounds of some high power stuff with my tooth, and it seemed forever.

Tooth is doing great.  Never even took a pain pill, doc was amazed and soooooo proud of himself.  I go back in a month for a cleaning and check up on the surgery area.  It's healed to that point that I forget, and floss or pick the area only to be reminded it's still a little tender in there.

I hope this rainy stuff avoids you, some areas close around got 7 inches, which will turn into nothing but runoff, as the ground is too saturated, but the good news is we're supposed to stay rain free for a few days.  Maybe the lake and river will go down some this time.  The dogwoods are blooming, but Ben says we can't even get to our hole right now, so no fishing this weekend.

You work on getting well, ya hear.  I have you in my prayers.

@ElevenStones - my Zema has fatty tumors on her chest, but at her age, the vet just wants to leave them, says they aren't harming anything.  Hope Chew gets his off soon, they are ugly.

@tialoca13 - No, it never did warm enough to go fishing and after the rains last week, the lake is up so high, the fish aren't biting.  Our pool cover will be on for at least another month probably, just too cold.  It's 27 right now, and that's after warming up some, frost everywhere this morning, glad I haven't put out any plants.

No beans for me thanks
That and sweet potatoes are two things I have never been able to choke down.

Mowing, I think I remember that.
My grass is so sad that I almost hate to see the snow go.

Oh, it was horrific there for a while.  Actually the river is still 12 feet above flood stage and the river feeds the lake, so it is, of coarse, very high, the highest I have ever seen it.  So much that they aren't even allowing boats on the water, too dangerous, debris floating everywhere, concrete picnic tables under water, and just at the time the crappie are supposed to be coming into the shorlines to lay eggs.  No fishing for us, looks like, for a while.

@oh_mother_may_I - But, those who are brave enough to park a ways back and walk in, are catching catfish, sand bass and a few crappie here and there.  Luckily the tornados missed us and went a little south, some in that direction were not as lucky.

Oh hon thanks so much for your kind words.  I totally agree with you on the living with parents.  THey were so much happier when they were living with Chris's friend, before they moved in with her parents.  Since they moved in with parents, all they have done is fight.  And as for her taking her meds, omg I know, why she wont is beyond me, but that is all part of the bi polar syndrome.  I really dont know if they will be getting back together or not, son just cant get past the fact that she has been plotting to talk to and has been talking to the ex.  Ya just dont do that when your married to one man and talking to the ex, for and I quote "a mans perspective", I call bull caca on that one.  If she wanted a mans perspective, go to your Dad, not an ex.  Im going to stay out of it, and let them do what they need to do and be as supportive as I can.  AS for son needing the parenting counseling, I totally agree with you 100%.  Anger is a dangerous thing when toddlers and kids are involved, and if you cant control it on your own, then you need outside help....period!!  I will encourage him towards that end.  Have a great week hon, and thanks for hanging in there with me, thru my sporadic writing.

My hubby bought a burgandy Silverado and has an OU hitch plug in it.  I have a hitch plug in my TB as well, but mine is an "OU official tailgater".  We were in Hot Springs a few months back and someone tried to take it out, thank God Ben put a locking hitch pin in mine.  I looked parked next to me, and there was a giant black pickup truck with a Hog's hitch plug.  I decided it would look nice in the field, but was met with a "don't you dare" (from the hubby).  Made me mad, but I left it.  We have ink pens in the store that play Boomer Sooner, none that play any thing Orange related tho.
