Just a quickie today

Haven't posted in a while, not alot going on here, except work.  I did get a really nice bit of wisdome in my email, which I wanted to share:

Billy Graham is now 86 years old with Parkinson's disease.

In January 2000, leaders in Charlotte , North Carolina ,
invited their favorite son, Billy Graham, to a luncheon in
his honor.

Billy initially hesitated to accept the invitation because he
struggles with Parkinson's disease. But the Charlotte
leaders said  , 'We don 't expect a major address. Just
come and let us honor you.'  So he agreed.

After wonderful things were said about him, Dr. Graham
stepped to the rostrum, looked at the crowd, and said,
'I'm reminded today of Albert Einstein, the great physicist who
this month has been honored by Time magazine as the
Man of the Century.  Einstein was once traveling from
Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the
aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger.  When he
came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket. He
couldn't find his ticket, so he reached in his trouser pockets .
It wasn't there, so he looked in his briefcase but couldn't find it.
Then he looked in the seat beside him.  He still couldn't find it.

The conductor s a i d , 'Dr. Einstein, I know who you are.
We all know who you are. I'm sure you bought a ticket.
Don't worry about it.' Einstein nodded appreciatively. The conductor continued
down the aisle punching tickets. As he was ready to
move to the next car ,  he turned around and saw the great physicist down on his hands
and knees looking under his seat for his ticket.

The conductor rushed back and said, 'Dr. Einstein,
Dr. Einstein, don't worry, I know who you are. No problem.
You don't need a ticket. I'm sure you bought one.'

Einstein looked at him and said, 'Young man, I too, know who I am.
What I don't know is where I'm going.''

Having said that Billy Graham continued,
'See the suit I'm wearing? It's a brand new suit.
My wife, my children , and my grandchildren are telling me
I've gotten a little slovenly in
my old age. I used to be a bit more fastidious. So I went
out and bought a new suit for this luncheon and one more occasion.

You know what that occasion is? This is the suit in which
I'll be buried. But when you hear I'm dead, I don't want
you to immediately remember the suit I'm wearing.
I want you to remember this:

I not only know who I am .. I also know where I'm going.'

May your troubles be less, your blessings more,
and may nothing but happiness, come through your door.

Do you know where you are going to spend eternity?  Something to thinnk about.

Well, I officially bought my first plant of the season, a reddish and cream colored honey suckle.  I'm planning on putting it in the bed above where the cat and bird are buried.  Now that has to happen this weekend.  I think it will be beautiful when it is in bloom.

We're still getting our lawns watered by the Lord, so it's mowing on the agenda for the weekend.  Only been a week since it was last mowed and we look pretty shaggy.  It's still to soggy to get the gigantic rider (I'll have to get pics of the bad boy for you) so guess most of it will get mowed with my little small dude, an entire acre.......That's it for today, I'll post again next week sometime.

Thanks for a great post. I'm having a bunch of people over tomorrow and will make the black bean soup, and I'm going to try to make the black bean "caviar' one you've got on here somewhere. It actually sounds pretty easy, kind of like a replacement for "pico de gallo' I too know where I'll spend eternity, and I have to say that it's very refreshing to see that question on here. Have a great day, evening, week, month..........

Man, for a quickie post, that was rather long  Great story there too. Scarey to think of how many people there are that think there is more than one way to that eternity in heaven with our Savior. Only thru Christ can we be SURE of our eternity in heaven, the others are fake and their eternity will NOT be a place to want to be. Do people even stop to fathom just how long eternity IS? Once it starts, there is no end...and that's where you'll be for NEVER ENDING, in God's presence, or cut off from God's presence. Sobbering to think about it. Glad I'm sure of my eternal destination with Christ in heaven. Hope your day is going well, haven't chatted in a while. Hope you get to go crappie fishin' soon. God bless your week !

@hidalgogringo - yes, it is a kind of substitute for Pico De Gallo, but I do love both.  I love anything with Black Beans in it, as you know, and all the other ingredients just turn this into an awesome dip, doesn't last long, make a big batch.  It's better the second day, after the flavors have melded.  Did you try the black bean soup?  Just wondering how the family liked it.

@copperknob929 - I love Billy Graham, he is an awesome man.  I grieve that he has parkinsons so bad that he doesn't speak in public anymore, but his son is helping so many, with the Operation Christmas Child, that really lifts my heart too.  It's amazing how many people here at the University build these boxes all year long, every year.  We never have a nike box go to the trash, they always end up in the Operation Christmas Child transport.

@tialoca13 - Believe it or not, I mustered up the energy to go get two huge bags of soil, some geraniums and vinca (all red and white of coarse) and some geraniums and vinca (same red and white) for the front porch and the grandson helped me plant them.   We also got the tomato plants in and two climbing burpless cucumbers as well.  Those are all in pots in front of the privacy fence, lol.  Nice, redneck look.  We (well, grandson) got the bed over the cat and bird done that I wanted to do, and the honeysuckle is planted.  So, I have plants out finally.  Now, just the back yard pots (6 of the, YIKES) and the front hanging baskets.  Waiting on the small fruit market downtown to get some more plants in, my regular place just up and went out of business or is just supplying to other business' now, trying to contact them to find out.  I want some of those banana trees.

Hi lady, Tbones and Porterhouse $5,98 a lb, Im going to scarf on them at that price.  Will be there as soon as I know the check will be in.  Yes we are still going to urge them to get those classes in.  As for Christian counseling, they do not go to church so I dont know how that would work, but I will try to find one that is Christian affiliated if I can.  Have a great week lady!!!

@okiepugs - Yes, I made a huge pot of the black bean soup, I didn't put ham or anything in it, and the whole pot went pretty fast!, some guys from my rescue squad came by, and they all ate. Down here it's hard to get anyone to try anything new, but that soup was a definite hit. My dad's coming this weekend, so I'll probably make both dishes for him while he's here.

@hidalgogringo - My husband loves that soup, and that dip........... well, it does not last long at our house.  I make it for the NCAA National Championship Games and the Big 12 Championship game, when we don't go to it and it's always a hit, usually goes faster than the ranch dip, which around here is "the staple".  That is, except our house, where anything with green chili's in it is considered a staple.  We go through more Rotel than you can imagine.

@okiepugs - It sounds about the same as here, we eat tons of pico de gallo, playing around with it some, sometimes bell peppers instead of jalepeno, grated carrots also go good in it. I have to go into town today, and will be seeking a rotel source!

@hidalgogringo - Hmmmm, I'll have to try the shredded carrots in the Pico De Gallo, sounds interesting, learn something new every day.  I usually use my the green chili's my daughter roasts for me (they come from Hatch, NM) instead of jalapeno's, or a combination of both.  If you can't find Rotel, it's just a can of tomatos and green chili's already mixed.  It's truly something we can't live without.  The reason I like Rotel is I can tailor the "hot" to who is being served, as Rotel makes a mild, regular, and hot.  The regular is what I usually use, it's plenty warm for us.  I hope you put a can in your bean soup, it's what gives the soup a little zip.

@okiepugs - I did have one large can on hand when I made the soup, I'm pretty sure it will probably be available at the grocery store, I've just never looked for it. Chopped up celery also goes good in pico de gallo.

@ezmrlda - We were getting the ads every Wednesday, but they stopped for some reason and now I have to go online to see the ads.  I went at lunch to check it out, and it was quite the zoo, people every where, it was more of a social gathering than a sale, everyone standing around talking and I'm doing my traditional flight of the bumble bee lunch time shopping and back to work.  I'll have to check with Ben and see what we are paying MountainView for the beef tenderloin.  I probably will go back for some pork baby back ribs, and some pork loins.

@okiepugs - hey lady, just hit ip the sale, dropped a pretty penny too, but so worth it.  I bought one of the pork tenderloins, and had it cut into roasts, and then got a bag of them with some of the most beautiful chops, butterfly and regular.  Cant wait to cook them, very lean and not a lot of fat on the roasts too.  OMG the Porterhouse and Tbones are to die for, I cannot wait to sink my chompers into them tonight, we are firing up the grill for them, some fresh fried squash, and a garden salad!!  Oh yeah baby!!!  Good eatins at Marys house tonight, hehehehe!!!

I was fortunate enough to see Billy Graham a few years back with my mom and sister. I am so glad I did. He is one person I truly admired. I dedicated a post to him sometime back.
