| so, I am in a random small city in India right now--Vellore, and just got back from church where I randomly just met Nalini's (from Calvin) parents. I just Happened to talk to them since they came up to me since they had been to the USA and probably wanted to make the connection since I am American, and the said they had been to St. Louis and Grand Rapids--I told them I went to Calvin--their daughter was at Calvin--Who is your daughter--Nalini.

| I'll post my first set of before and afters in the next couple days, but first...
I discovered TED, which is this awesome site that basically just has lectures (actually really interesting) that you can watch for free on a ton of interesting topics. The lectures are from T.E.D., which is a conference on Technology, Entertainment, and Design.
One video that I want to share is by James Howard Kunstler, who is a proponent of local living and sustainable urbanism. I first was introduced to his writing my senior year of high school when I skipped school one afternoon to go to a talk by him about his then-latest book, The City in Mind: Meditations on the Urban Condition. His most famous book is The Geography of Nowhere: the Rise and Decline of America's Man-Made Landscape, which I recommend to any and all.
So, here is the video. This is what I am all about. FYI, he is very blunt.
--Update--
Also, now that I am addicted to TED, Please watch this one from Majora Carter of Sustainable South Bronx, who speaks about green urban activism and the importance of grassroots changemakers. Her t-shirt is the bomb and chances are strong that I will order one off the website.

| hiSo I sort of bought a house today. The seller accepted my offer and I go into settlement in 10 days. Ridiculously crazy, especially because it is a "fixer-upper". funnnnnnn.....
Here is a little pic. It is in this neighborhood, which is actually my blog too. It was one of the only DC neighborhoods without a neighborhood blog so I felt the need to fill that hole in the system. ...and then bought a house there.
 (the middle one)
I will try to document my progress with it here. |

| happy appendix day to me (mark my word, one day this will be on calendars...)
twelve years ago today i had my gangrene (yep you all wanted to know that) appendix removed and, among other lasting affects, began my lifelong love affair with the J-E-L-L-O.
