Trying to Take It With You

A stingy old lawyer who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness was determined to prove wrong the saying, "You can't take it with you." After much thought and consideration, the old ambulance-chaser finally figured out how to take at least some of his money with him when he died.

He instructed his wife to go to the bank and withdraw enough money to fill two pillowcases. He then directed her to take the bags of money to the attic and leave them directly above his bed. His plan was that when he passed away, he would reach out and grab the bags on his way to heaven.

Several weeks after the funeral, the deceased lawyer's wife had gone up in the attic to clean. Coming upon the two forgotten pillowcases stuffed with cash she exclaimed, "Oh, that darned old fool, I knew he should have had me put the money in the basement."

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of
the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the
questions. Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the
    point.

    1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

    2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

    3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

    4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

    5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and
    actress.

    6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

    How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These
are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But
the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

    1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

    2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

    3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

    4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and
    special.

    5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

    Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not
the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most
awards. They are the ones that care.

Hope you all have a wonderful day

Hello al my Xangian friends out there...sure hope you had a wonderful weekend....not to bad here...just thought I would forward an Email I got tonight...no so funny but it will make you go HHHHHMMMM....

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county & he asked me a rhetorical question, ''Why didn't we have a drug problem when you & I were growing up?''
I replied: I had a drug problem when I was young:
I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings & funerals. I was drug to family reunions & community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, didn't speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profane 4-letter word.
I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden & flower beds & cockleburs out of dad's fields.
I was drug to the homes of family, friends, & neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood; &, if my mom had ever known I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins; & they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, & think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin; if today's children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a much better place.
    Much love to all....    ><>
