I am actually just posting to keep xanga alive.. in case i ever want to go back..

anyways real busy now studying for CFP in July wish me luck!

okay

So i know its been quite a number of days since i last updated but.. thanksgiving.. + black friday shopping should say enough. I didn't stuff myself silly and I actually did quite a lot of walking around Friday and Saturday shopping.

Anyway i am in Southlake Tx right now for training and i did do some research and found out my hotel had not only a gym but also internet in the rooms! so i packed three days worth of gym clothes ( i know will be stinky when i get home) and also sneakers. Last night i was too tired but then nicely reminded that only fat people use the excuse they are tired as to why they didn't work out so today I had to go. Luckily I found a work out buddy to go with and we both stepped it up on the elliptical. The tiny gym itself was really nice actually and every machine (all 6 of them) had its own tv. and lots of mats and those sit up balls etc. I did a good 30 min and worked up a sweat and burned just under 300 calories! Yay that'll go to the Sprite i drank on the airplane ride down here. Just goes to show how hard it is to burn off those empty calories =(.

anyway I don't know if i'll be able to go tomorrow. tomorrow is tv night.

III

I decided to try something new today. I went for the treadmill. Now i know running isn't really something new persay but I am always hesitant about the treadmill and the things I've seen and imagined with people falling off the end. I did a good 1.5 mi running and another .5 mi speed walking. Good for a start I think. And I got a nice sweat going =P I almost fell twice but luckily was able to either step to the side or completely off without ripping the earphones that were plugged into the tv out of my ears. I think I will be better next time. That machine though doesn't count calories =( so boo.
two in a row

Well today i went and worked out again!

So proud. I went around 7 pm and it was packed. I ended up using an elliptical in the corner with a tv which i thought was a score until i realized every time the machine changed levels it sounded like a full on construction crew.

anyway i worked out for 40 min again and watched wheel of fortune and jeopardy. and then.. that's about it.. i need to get a lock..

Work out II

Kenny if you are going to read atleast give me some eprops.

Anyways its been a busy past two weeks and although that's no excuse that's the way it was. in the mean time while i wasn't working out i...

gave a presentation in front of my whole branch and won second place for presentation style and seminar giving skills (who would have thunk?!) and got 100 bucks gift certificate yay.

I also.. walked around a lot although it doesn't count as working out.. at least I wasn't sitting on my butt.

So today i went to the gym. I ran there. I still don't have a lock so don't have a place to lock my winter clothes while i wear my work out clothes. I did elliptical for 40 min and burned.. about 300 calories? so little. it was for about 3.63 something for the distance. I'm not sure what the measurement for distance (mi or km?) is on the elliptical machine. And then i ran home. haha its cold out.

im also trying to figure out a way to get rid of the armpit fat. I know that is one of girls biggest woe's i think pushups are good.. but my arms so weak right now. I will work on it and let you know.

Work out blog

Okay so I think I'm going to start keeping a working out journal.

On my way home from work to go home and change I saw this guy wearing a Red Sox sweatshirt. He was not bad looking and he was smiling pretty happily. I kept walking home and changed and on my way to the gym I saw him again, but this time with his arm around this short, sort of manly looking.. oh wait his arm was around another guy. DOH.

So now the real gym journal starts. I signed up for Fitcorp which is right inside the Mall so its very convenient and luckily once I'm in the mall it's not too cold. I've been going maybe 2-3 times a week so far for the last 2 weeks and doing about 30 min on the elliptical. Today I realized I wasn't really doing anything prior times b/c i never got my heart rate up and never sweat. So today I tried to get my heart rate up around 150, I was only able to have it around 130 for about 20 min and after that 20 min i was dying! I did a 5 min cool down and decided to go onto the bike. I realized there's two different kinds of bikes and I think I used the wrong one for the style of biking i did but I hope nobody noticed. Thankfully the Fitcorp also has magazines so I was able to just pedal relaxingly and read a magazine for a good 10 min.

total work out- 35 min + the mini jog there and back = total about 42 min
lessons learned- don't try to read a magazine while using the cardio program which checks your heart rate every two seconds. two different bike machines for two different ways to bike.

also RED SOX parade today was awesome! wish i brought my camera =(

when do splurge on what you want vs. buy what is reasonable.. the story of the shower curtain

So I had THE cutest fabric shower curtain back at Cornell, and I packed it up to keep it so I could use in the future. I can't find where I packed it. I'm moving within the next few hours to my new apt which has no shower curtain, so I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to pick out something.

It was a mad house in there with all the back to schoolers, Class of '07s (high schoolers that is, gosh i feel old) but I went to the shower curtain area and started looking around. They have a great selection but the shower curtains were 20-40 dollars for the fabric ones. I started looking through and found some really pretty ones, but then thought, do I REALLY need to spend 40 bucks for a shower curtain? A shower curtain that I will use for a year and then probably store away and lose it before its time to use it again? And although there were a whole bunch that I really liked, I kept on browsing to the plastic ones. There were some cute designs there but the plastic ones always get so nasty so quick and look gross. I kept looking back at the fabric ones to see if maybe there was a nice 20 dollar one. And then I saw one. It was light brown/copper color with a decent fabric pattern. I didn't love it, but it was half off! From $30 to $15. I grabbed it before anybody else saw it and started contemplating. Should I get this one because it's cheaper and okay, or should i splurge and get one that I really like, (like the one i had at cornell which is now missing somewhere)

I decided to go with it. I didn't love it, but it would make nice and serve it's purpose without getting gross. But will I get buyer's remorse and regret not getting one that I love? Only time can tell

currently reading.

thankfully class hasn't started yet, so in the mean time I've been catching up with my sci fi reading.

way back when in high school i had an equally nerdy friend loan me ender's game.. this book was awesome.
I loved it so i read the other three books in the Ender's game quartet

Then, a few weeks ago, a friend recommended Ender's shadow.. this book was also awesome
and within a week I was able to read Shadow of the Hegemon- and couldn't wait to get my hands on the 3rd book so went out to Barnes and Nobles, felt really nerdy in the sci fi section but got the third book which I'm currently in.
man.. its good.

reading is good.

update

so cute bai ren bus guy... is MARRIED...

moving on to find a new one

some shallow stories- intro to the next chapter

So.. I had to write up a letter to one of our customers and while I was showing it to my manager to make sure it was okay to be sent out, he told me this "this letter is not the best written letter" and i paused and thought to myself : "its a good thing this job does entail a lot writing, and that you don't read my xanga hhaha" but i never claimed i was any good at writing anyway. I took the fewest English classes possible at Cornell. And anybody who has decent English probably just read that run on sentence and felt disgusted, possibly even a little bit of that throw up feeling.

so i was in nyc this past weekend and damn i have to say i miss my friends! Thanks so much yiyun for putting me up for the extra long weekend, and taking me out! I had good sushi. its funny how i feel like i can never get sick of sushi. i was also exposed to some weird things but i wouldn't have expected any less being in nyc, and adding alcohol into the mix= weird stuff.
-thursday night- this REALLy tall girl kept "bumping" into tall steven in efforts to make him notice her, although he was in complete denial and we all saw it.
-thursday night-people almost got beat up.. by yiyun haha
-thursday night- we made and decorated cupcakes!
Saturday- full day- full night. lets just say there was eating/dancing/drinking/hua chuening/ and a bit of crying too =O

Its funny how girls are always seemingly attracted to a**hole guys. I didn't think i'd be one of those people, yet I am finding my self in a conflicted spot.

the 3rd story. there's this decent looking bai ren who rides the bus i usually ride to work. And last week he sat next to me and randomly started talking to me, nothing too serious but just general chatter about my suitcase that I was bringing to NYC. on monday he sat next to me again, and I was hoping he'd ask a question so i could engage him but he didnt I sat for a good 10 min trying to think of things to say to start a convo, but i didn't want to look like some weird girl in case he didnt' remember who i was! I'm open to suggestions and if there are any good ones i may try them on the next bus ride to work. =P

and.. i spilled udon soup on my keyboard. it still works for now.. but definitely smells like udon.

until next time
