Richard E. "Dick" DeSisto, 74, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was born Saturday, May 2, 1931, in Boston, Mass., and was a son of the late Ermin and Grace (Juliano) DeSisto.
Dick was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in North Boston, Mass., and had attended Northeastern University in Boston, where he studied electrical and mechanical engineering.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served in the U. S. Army. In 1992, he retired from the former G. S. Electric Co. in Carlisle after 30 years of service. He then operated his own consulting business in Carlisle from 1992 to 2005.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Carlisle American Legion Post 101 and the Downtown Carlisle Association. He was a former member of the board of directors for the Carlisle Theatre and the St. Patrick Parish Council.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Darryl A. Fitting, and a brother, Ermin "Larry" "Junior" DeSisto. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, RoseMarie (Kerekes) DeSisto; three sons, Edward J. DeSisto of Park City, Utah, Robert J. DeSisto and his wife, Ellen, of Chester, N.H., and Joseph C. Kovacs and his wife, Joyce, of Palmyra; two daughters, Lisa A. Fitting of Boiling Springs and Garnett K. Jacavanco and her husband, Daniel, of Andover, Mass.; a brother, Paul DeSisto of Chelmsford, Mass.; a sister, Rosemary DeMarco of Boca Raton, Fla.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, with Rev. Daniel J. Menniti as the celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
Visitation will be at the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, on Friday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
