On Friday, House Democrats turned out the lights, shut off CSPAN, turned off the mikes, shooed the press away, and went home.

The House Republicans didn't go home.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that

I'm almost sick,

kinda past tired,

my clothes smell like chocolate,

and I'm about to head out into the 'wide blue yonder' far away and 'over there,'

but I just felt like I *had* to go into my city

and say

"Good bye."

It's the strangest feeling... I know I have to go. I know this is the right step. But somehow, I feel like when I come back, things won't be quite the same anymore. And so I say,

"Goodbye... I will miss you... I mean, I won't -- But I will."

This morning, I did something totally crazy and random...

I rolled out of bed at 4:45am (after going to bed at 12am. hehe.)

tumbled out the door...

into the cold darkness...

to go the Sunrise Easter Service at the Lincoln Memorial.

I think everyone should go and sing "He is Lord" on the steps on Easter morn, just as the sun is peeking up...

Let’s say a pastor’s wife tries to match you up with a guy. You’re not really impressed with his slouch, but you know she means well and you decide to give the guy a chance.

You somehow wind up on his team for a group storytelling game. Ok.... We can handle this, right?

As you’re writing the next part of the story for the game, he gets uneasy about the hilarious stories all the other teams keep passing you -- They have firearms mixed in the story lines

Finally, he can't take it anymore and exclaims,

‘We need more gun control!"

The game goes on...

And you proceed with your life, confident that you did not just leave behind a Prince Charming in Disguise.

::edit:: Of course, you can't base relationship decisions on one issue (like, GUNS of all things!). But I think you, O Gentle Reader, get the idea. If a guy can't appreciate the privilege to keep and bear arms... yeah.

"Poor Congressman Conaway!"

I suddenly wonder what has gone wrong... A scandel? Hard race? More gossip? But no...

"He has four daughters... And one son.

(hastily) "Not that there's anything WRONG with daughters.

"But you'd be BROKE.

(pause)

"Broke and outta your mind..."

I think he was basing his deductions on his experience as the youngest of three sisters. I didn't think to tell him that we had 4 girls in my family and that Father is still sane...

I have always liked the look of a scarf.

To me, it seemed very feminine and nice. (I was always told I was born at least 50 yrs too late...)

You can imagine my Shock and Surprise when one evening, a Certain Coworker saw me leaving and couldn't pass up the chance to say,

"Oh! Is that your Nancy Pelosi look?"

He was, of course, refering to the lil' jaunt that Speaker Pelosi took over to Syria... Where she made quite a spectacle of herself, even to the point of visiting a Muslim mosque.

To make things worse, when I came home and told my family, their response was

"Yep! I can see it..."

!!!

Poor lil' innocent scarf... It took me a few days to look at it the same way again.

A Prayer for America

All to often we don't stop and appreciate the the incredible men who were Forefather's of our Country.

There are so many lies floating around about them... No one knows the history anymore.

I have found it so refreshing to go back and read their original writings and letters.

Take George Washington, for example.

Today is his birthday.

Everyone should go to the Valley Forge Memorial Chapel and read his prayer for America framed on the wall:

Almighty God; we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large.

And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with charity, humility and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation.

Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
