55km on a saddle
The saddle was the only sore point...
like a painting
You can travel great distances with the wind against your back.... its the return journey which kills you.
Sometimes there are better views behind the scenes..
This is about 25km
Sunbathing happened all day...
many a rest for the ass
A very nice welcome
and today a knees up
Good god, its good to be relaxing

Holiday Part I
I've been to tipperary, and then to dublin... and then to Galway... and then to Connemara... and I forgot my laptop charger... so you'll forgive the lateness of this entry.
More photos to follow later.
My journey on friday, took me some 100 miles south of dublin. Down to see cathy and Justin and all the crew. Its my extended family. my exit into a world with chickens, trampoleans, boat builders and good times.
I stopped off at the rock.. in Cashel, Tipperary.. its called the rock, cause its on a big one.
the rock from Hore abbey
One has to pay into the rock, but hore abbey is just across the road in a field. Cows aren't scary... really. Hore abbey is like a miniture rock... I like this shot. I just happened past a window and there she was. I have another with the flash on... its a bit too much though.
The altar
I've contrasted the shit out of this one, so you can't really see the altar any more... The ceiling above me is gone and also over the altar.. but a piece is still in place .. this isn't "altared" except for contrast.
Anyway, now that I'm back with power... .... thank jehova I didn't forget the camera charger. Whatever power was in the laptop I used to download photos... I've a ton, we'll have to see. .. found a new way to take a photo yesterday..

Tomorrow will come

I'm dying to start my holiday... my road trip... drive with the windows down...
Drive-by photography
I was locked out of my car today... I did it to myself... and I undid it myself... it took 2.5 hours and a coat hanger and I came close twice to just boucing something iff the window. These moments are especially bad when one can see the key. A triffic feeling when I had given all hope up an hour previous.
Boredom overcame the moment.
But it ruined my day, a little
Tomorrow I'll start my holiday for the second time... ha ha

Time - a short story
A very short story
The last time he held his breath like that was December, the lines on his face bothered him. He held his breath, as if trying to stop for a moment the passage of time. With struggle he let it out. Those eyes look tired, that skin isn't as taught as it used to be.Something clicked, some distant memory of how it used to be. How he used to be. The realisation that time waits for no man. The thought of life actually being short wasn't one that suddenly came upon him, it was a trickle at first... now as he peered at the increasingly freckled skin and the numerous white hairs...he knew he wasn't impervious to time anymore.
Before, it was easy, he only wondered about what he would be like as an uncle... he wondered would he go on holidays and where to party on a saturday night... Old age was indeed approaching, for now all he thought about was pensions and invoices, dinner parties and cycling. But with all these wrinkles came something that cancelled out what he felt he'd lost. He had discovered himself, how to say what he wanted without causing offence to others. He found calmness or what made him calm. He discovered joy in things he never would have considered 10 years previous. Life was still full of wonder for him, but it had a certainness and direction that it had lacked for some time.
Just staring in the rear view mirror, at traffic lights, counting down seconds in his head, ... holding his breath... he thought all those thoughts....
They say people have as many as 20,000 thoughts a day, some undoubtedly of an erogenous nature... but some indeed are about all the things in the world. I find the world .... I want to use the word predictable, but predictable only describes a section of the world. Its complexity is never ending.Such is the beauty of life here... one could never get bored.

A day through my eyes
It started like most days recently, sunny, but with the element of wetness that would get the best of us down. Unperturbed we decided it would be best to just make a dash for glendalough and to hell with the weather.
Waiting in the garden
Its customary to wait for a while... ladys take some time to fix themselves... and so they should.
The humble bumble bee is perhaps the trickiest of thinks to capture. Unpredictable and bobbing in flight, they can take off in an instant... .. and with millimetres between focussed and crap, there's no room for auto focus. Its almost better to focus on one spot and hope the humble bumble, might stumble into frame. Its a reflex of expectation, the shutter release... the trigger finger. . . whack...
___________________________
Five minutes later we were in the car, windows down... her hair still wet, talk of ice creams a gorgeous feeling to the day... the sun was out.
Just about
I'm pretty lucky in Dublin, we're about 5 minutes from the base of the dublin Mountians, 30 minutes drive to the sea, with wilderness another 20 minutes into the hills
I fell over, Cotton buds
You can go a number of ways to Glendalough, the N11, the N81 or over the hills and sally gap... the hills are nice, but windy....
Prettyful
I found a new place to explore, its over there.... ... I reckon there's a cliff... but its a mile or four through this wet stuff, which is like walking through deep snow.
It wasn't long before we got to Glendalough... bought "the best icecream" and enjoyed an hour or two sitting next to a river, listening to birds and the gentle moving water. We're both dying for our holidays to start... only another week... ... she slept for an hour, while I tried to lure the wild life with chocolate and dorritos... neither of which had any joy...
Flash fall
Before we left, with talk of bed at 8pm... I caught this image, using flash cause the clouds were back.. you can see it reflected. it reminds me of music records/ LP's every time I see it.
a wet crack
On the way home we didn't stop... well apart from getting this image... and the next.. its a little scary holding the new camera over rapidly running water. I'm not afraid of splashes... its more the thought of dropping it. Its like some evil part of me would drop it, just to make the good side upset. I almost got my ass in the water taking this.
Anti Gravity
Anyway... I might have missed bed by 8 by two hours.. but that was only so I could bring you something of the day....
