My list o' wishes.

So, for those of you who for some reason wish to buy me Christmas gifts (that's right, I said Christmas), here's a list of items I currently desire:

1. CD's and/or T-shirts from any of the following bands (parenthesis ( )=specific album, brackets [ ]=any album but those specified):

Relient K [MMHMM, Two Lefts Don't Make a Right], Emery, Underoath (Preferably "Define the Great Line," but others are ok.), KJ-52, Demon Hunter, Pillar [Fireproof], Falling Up (Dawn Escapes), Evanescence, Red, Anberlin, Haste the Day, Pax217, Grits. I'm stopping there. Don't wanna give you too many choices.

2. Any cool-looking hat, preferably of a style I don't have yet. (Yeah, right. Have fun with that.)

3. Cool punk-like jackets/shirts, including black button-up shirt with white vertical pinstripes. Ya know, Hot Topic sorta stuff. I wear a medium.

4. An El Camino. With hydraulics and seats in the back.

5. A life.

6. If all else fails, as a totally last resort, just send me one of those sausage and cheese samplers.

If I think of more later, I'll edit this blog. Or just tell you personally. 'Cause I know you'd like that. I know you. But I don't stalk you. 'Cause that's creepy. Ok, I'm done.

San Francisco is officially awesome!

So, for those of you who didn't know, I've been in San Francisco with my church youth group for the last ten days. I left Friday and arrived Saturday. Every evening we had a group meeting and discussed the day and the Bible study we do every day. So, here's a breakdown of what I did there:

Day 1: Left WA & drove most of the day with occasional stops, one of which was at the "Oregon Vortex." If you've never been there, I would suggest it. It's pretty crazy/trippy. We got as far as the city of Shasta, CA, where we spent the night at a church that was kind enough to let us stay there. Before we went to sleep, the sprinklers turned on right where we had parked the two cars. We had Darren stand on the sprinkler while Pastor Lee and my mom moved the cars. That was pretty funny. And by the way, I didn't know until today that there's a city in California called Weed. Tee-hee.

Day 2: We got up, drove a very little distance, and realized that the van was about to break down. We stopped at a Napa Auto Parts where we found out that we needed a new alternator. So, while Lee fixed that, we ate breakfast and wandered around the city of Shasta. After that was over, we got in the cars and went the rest of the way to SF. Traffic on the Bay Bridge was disgusting, but we made it ok. My mom, who was one of the drivers, was totally freaking out 'cause she hates bridges enough to begin with, let alone bridges with crazy California drivers. We got to the church where we would be spending the week. It has a cozy little apartment upstairs with a kitchen, a living room, and plenty of room for everyone to sleep and stuff. Nice little place.

Day 3: Seeing as how today was Sunday, we went to church today. It's a pretty small church, but it was nice. My brother, Matthew, who lives in SF and attends this church regularly, preached the sermon. There was a really good potluck afterwards. After that, we went back upstairs, changed into casual clothes, and checked out the park where we would be doing the Backyard Bible Club, which is a Vacation Bible School type thing where we set up shelters in the park and kids come and have Bible study, games, music, and crafts. We will be doing this every morning all week starting tomorrow. Then we went back, played card games and stuff, went to evening service, had our group study/meeting, and went to bed.

Day 4: First day of Backyard Bible Club went really well (over the week we averaged about 12 kids). After that, we walked around Golden Gate Park, which is a really big park with a bunch of different stuff in it, one of which is the Japanese tea garden, which we did walk through. That was our first touristy thing of the week, with much more to come. We were totally tired pretty much the whole day today.

Day 5: After Backyard Bible Club, we went and wandered around Fisherman's Wharf. We got a bunch of souvenirs, of course. We really enjoyed just cuttin' loose today, checkin' out the sights and the stores. While the girls went in a jewelry store, Kit, Mike and I sat down on the sidewalk and started beat boxing. I put my hat down, but, sadly, no one threw any money. Today, I was officially dubbed, "The Hat Man." Yeah. Everybody pretty much enjoyed the entire day. Afterwards, we were tired from all the walking, but still happy.

Day 6: Today was the official rest day. So, after Backyard Bible Club, we did our studies and journals, played some card games, and played this hilarious game called "Honey, If You Love Me." If you haven't played it, you should. Basically, we relaxed and had fun at the apartment today.

Day 7: Today we went to Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, where my brother Matthew is attending and training to be an Air Force Chaplain. Afterwards, we ate at In-N-Out, saw some super-fancy houses, went across the Golden Gate Bridge, and took a big scenic hike to this sweet little beach. When we crossed back over the G.G. Bridge, the fog was rolling in and it looked really cool.

Day 8: Last day of Backyard Bible Club. It was kind of sad saying goodbye to all those kids, but it was alright. After that, we rode a trolley to Chinatown. It was pretty great. It's an entirely different culture there. A whole lot of different sights. Lots of sword shops. If I hadn't spent all my money by then, I totally would have gotten one. Tonight, a fuse blew that affected the kitchen, so dinner was kinda late, but It was good anyway.

Day 9: Today we went to the Winchester Mystery House, which is the house built by the widow of the heir to the invention of the Winchester Rifle. The widow was told by a psychic that if she kept building on her house, she'd live forever. It was pretty crazy. There are stairs to nowhere, a door on the third floor that leads to nowhere, and just a lot of crazy twists and turns and stuff. Tonight, we were treated to dinner at Olive Garden by a family that goes to the church we're staying at. Overall, good day.

Day 10 (yesterday): Woke up early, packed everything up, drove home all day. Made it back at around 8:30. Went home, unpacked, ate dinner, crashed. Not much more to say.

So, overall, this trip was the bomb, as well as hardxcore. I got to know everyone in the youth group on an entirely new level after spending just about all my time with them for ten days. I am glad to be home, but I would totally do it again. Just not right away.

So, I was up the entire night playing games, watching movies, and eating unhealthy snack foods. Then I went home and slept from, like, 7:30 to 2:00. Following which, I awoke and ate Beefaroni, a Vault, and more Doritos while watching reruns of Full House. Now that's what I call a successful night! But, yeah, the church lock-in was great. We watched Jumanji and the Princess Bride, two quite awesome movies. I realized last night that I can pretty much quote the Princess Bride all the way through. For those of you who haven't seen it, you should. Hilarious movie. We also played Spoons (which I owned at),  Scattergories (which my team almost owned at), Name That Movie Tune (see parenthesis after Scattergories), and food relay (team ownage!). Yup, lock-ins pretty much always rock. Yeah. And that's all I have to say about that.

Here's what I plan on doing first thing tomorrow: Sleep. Second, I will wake up, realize that it's summer, have a good hearty silent laugh in my head, and fall back asleep. Then I will repeat the process several times. Then, I'll wake up and just lay there for, like, an hour or so. Finally, when I feel that I am fully ready to get up, I'll get out of bed and go have lunch.

I love summer.

You should read my last post.
