Currently Watching
Smallville - The Complete Fifth Season
By Tom Welling
see related

Last night we watched Smallville.  It's pretty scary how our family got so hooked on that show.  However, what started out as a light hearted flick about high school has morphed into a show with a lot of things that shouldn't be aired from 8 - 9 p.m.  Sometimes it's downright uncomfortable/embarrassing to see these things with my kids.  Blood, guts, murder, demon possession, infidelity, dishonesty, etc. Sex and sin in Smallville.

After Smallville, Jennie and I stayed up late last night making Scupley ornaments for Mrs. Smythe's ornament exchange today.  Jennie is one creative gal!  It was great fun.

On a lighter side...Today our family plans to make chocolate-covered pretzels.  I am craving some chocolate chip cookies, so I may make those, also.

A Christmas Album
By Amy Grant

The girls decorated our Christmas tree yesterday.  It looks great. Way to go Amy, Jennie, and Stacy!  Y'all did a fantastic job!

Amy Grant is one of my favorite singers.  I love her mellow alto voice.  I've been listening to Amy Grant's Christmas album since I was in college in the 1980's.  (A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....)  Now, listening to it when we decorate our Christmas tree is a family tradition!  I love this time of year.

Well, well, well.  So much to do, so little time...

Skating was lots of fun last week.  I didn't skate this time because 1) I thought I was going to have to take admission so I didn't take my skates and 2) I took a more pressing project to work on (altering my choir dress.) Fortunately, though, I got my chocolate chip cookie and Diet Pepsi.

Today was the International Dinner.  It's always fun to talk with other moms.  Tonight is the Elementary Choir/Concert Choir concert!  I finished altering my dress earlier this morning.  I'm pleased with the finished product.  It's been a flexible kind of day, but a good day, at that.

Welcome to Diverse City

Tomorrow is Tri-State skating!  Yippee!  I am looking forward to buying my chocolate chip cookie(s) and a Diet Pepsi.  If that sounds incongruous, it is.  But it's fun!

Also, the Elementary Choir is scheduled to sing at the Mall.  It's such a fun time of year, with so much to do!

Have you ever wondered, "Why am I here? What does God want of me?"  We adults wonder that also. For me, I strive daily to know and to do God's will.  Often times that is different from what others want/expect me to do. When I am in the Lord's will, there is incredible peace, especially when life is less than tranquil! The Creator has a plan and a purpose for each one of us.  Do you know who God wants you to be?  I'm interested in your thoughts. More next time....

P.S.   Thanks, Red Suspenders, for showing me how to do some really cool Xanga stuff the other day!!!

Messiah (George Frederick Handel) London Philharmonic Orchestra

Yesterday our family went on a field trip to the Tabernacle in Lancaster with some friends.  That was really interesting! I am so glad we are not under the Law of Moses, but under the Grace of God.  I would much rather be shown mercy than justice!  I am reminded that Christianity is not about "religion", but about a relationship with the Creator of the universe.

This morning, Chris M. came over to move some wood.  As I figure it, when he's finished, he will have moved about 5 cords of wood from our wood pile to the wood racks in our back yard. Go, Chris, Go!

(Just to set the record straight, Mme. is the abbreviation for Madame.  Mlle. is the abbreviation for Mademoiselle.)
