I Wiggled

Last night, we had our Cluster Group over. I was taking Katelyn to the living room and heard Rick ask a question. I blurted out an answer to the question. Katelyn looked up at me and said, "Daddy, you scared me! I wiggled."

Long Day

So today after work, I took Katelyn to Gymboree then to dinner at Chipotle. After I got our food, we walked over to an empty table. Katelyn climbed into her chair, let out a sigh, and said, "long day." The family next to us started cracking up. They asked her if she had a busy day at the park and playing with her toys. She said, "yes." Crazy Katelyn!

Today, as I was putting Katelyn to bed, she said to me, "Daddy, don't worry." I replied, "Don't worry about what?" She responded, "I love you." It doesn't get any better than that.

A New Day

Today, I did 2 things I haven't done in a while. First, I've posted this Xanga entry. I admit it - I'm a Xanga stalker. I read all your posts in secret. I don't even leave comments. I wanna know what's going on but don't want you to know that I know. If you require a login to view your Xanga, then I haven't read it. Hmm, what did my shrink say about that?

The second thing I decided to do today was run. Last week, Jane and Katelyn went with me to San Diego. I had to spend a couple of days there for work. On Saturday, we went to Sea World. At the Manatee Rescue exhibit, they had a scale you could stand on to compare your weight with the Manatee's. And let me tell you, my weight was pretty close. I broke a certain weight milestone for the first time in my life. Do I look fat to you?

So this running thing. Call it busy (okay, lazy), but its been a long while since I've done this. The three of us went to the park/lake by our house after dinner. I started to run around the lake. I couldn't even complete an entire lap without slowing down to a walk! And a lap is maybe 1/2 a mile. I ran (walked) 2 laps and man, I was huffing and puffing. My thighs are sore as I write this. So sad.

But seriously, I need to do this for my family. I recently visited my grandfather in the nursing home. He's 80 something and hanging on. Ever since his stroke 10+ years ago, he hasn't been the same. Quality of life hasn't been great for him in his twilight years. For perspective, I rode up a chairlift several months ago in Mammoth with a man in his 80s. The guy looked like he was in his 50s and is apparently a good skier. Now that's how I want to enjoy my retirement years....with my family.

Close Call...

Wow. Gotta thank God for this. David, my brother-in-law (Jane's younger brother), was vacationing in London this past week. Yesterday, he went to the airport in London to fly back home. While at the gate waiting to board the plane, he saw two men get arrested. They were going to be on his flight. There was a delay and they finally flew to the States.

When David got home, he turned on the TV and saw that his flight was one of the 10 named as targets of the latest terrorist plots that got thwarted. In other words, he could have been on a plane with those two terrorists that got arrested with liquid explosives(There were over 20 that got arrested that day)! What a crazy world we live. I'm so thankful that they caught these guys.

By the way, if you're flying anytime soon - No liquids of any kind are allowed in your carry-on. That includes toothpaste, makeup, hair gel, etc. Gotta check all that stuff. Get to the airport 3-4 hours before your flight. They are inspecting all carry-ons so there will be very long lines.

Unfortunately, I have a 7am flight on Monday from LAX to NY. I gotta be at the airport by about 3am. Ouch.
