  • One Month

Has it already been one month?  Wow!  I can hardly believe it.  There is such a different feeling knowing that I am not returning to work.  I think I would be really sad if I knew I only had two more weeks at home.  Currently, I am amazed it is already the end of July.  Where did the days go?  One more month until school starts, for Avery and me.

Here's Mazie now.  She weighed 11 lbs. 6 1/2 oz. and 21 1/4 inches long as of Monday, 7/21.

And here are Princess Avery and Superman Roman.

  • It is absurdly early in the morning.  That's how I feel right now.  Mazie decided to wake up at 5am, so she and I have been chilling together.  Now she wants to go back to sleep but will not.  I thought I could steal a few moments to type, but she beckons.

  • Passing

Bryan's grandpa passed away last night around 8:30.  He was very peaceful all afternoon and most of the family was there.  We are now surrounding his family with our love and presence for the rest of the week.  The visitation is scheduled for Friday evening and the service will be Saturday at 2pm.
There is such a strange feeling and unawareness that comes from this time in life for the survivors.  Each one is processing his and her grief very differently.  It is almost as though we must get through this week of planning so that we can begin grieving once all of the tasks are complete.
As difficult as this is, it is a blessing that we were planning to be here this week.  We were able to see him Monday and show him his newest great-grandchild, and we were able to say goodbye.  For that I am very thankful.

  • Two Week Excitement

Mazie is two weeks old today.  I was going to load some pictures, but the drive wasn't working on my mother-in-law's computer and Bryan is using our laptop.  I would guess Mazie weighs around 9 lbs. now.  Her cheeks are getting quite plump!  I will put on some new pictures when I am able.
We are in St. Joseph for the week, showing off the new baby.  We drove through quite a rainstorm last night on our way.  We were under a dark raincloud for at least 30 minutes; the downpour was intense.
We also received a call that Bryan's grandpa was taken to the emergency room with severe dizziness.  They admitted him around 11pm, just as we were arriving in town.  He has a distended stomach, which makes him appear pregnant.  They were going to run tests to see if his kidneys were still functioning or what else may be causing the problem.  He is 85 and has been in and out of the hospital multiple times just this year.  It is highly possible that he may not last through the week, but we pray for peace during this time for him and the entire family.  When we decided to visit the family, we did not have a funeral in mind.

About Me

  • I am a young wife and mother of a beautiful 5 year old girl, Avery, a 2 year old boy, Roman, and one on the way. My husband, Bryan, and I have moved from St. Joseph, MO to Houston, TX to Nashville, TN to Iowa City, IA since our marriage in 2002. During that time, we have focused our lives around living intentionally toward making our values an important part in our lives, more so than what others think. We love our family and the people we meet. We want to make a difference in the lives of others.
