Pictures

Earlier this week I learned how to add pictures to xanga...Yes - I'm way behind the times.  So I thought I would add a couple more just for fun.

This one is from this summer when we were in WA. We are on the beach at Ocean Shores (Creative town name, don't you think?)

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving trip to Ohio this year.  We were able to suprise Philip's family and had a great time together making pies and eating lots of yummy food.  Here are a couple pictures for you to enjoy!

Can you believe it's almost December?  We are looking forward to a New Years trip to Washington (hopefully they'll still have snow) and some nice time here in Texas with family as well.  We have finals up until December 23rd so there won't be much of a break before Christmas, but we'll be ready to celebrate during the end of December and early January.

I am working on developing a discipleship ministry for one of my classes.  This is what I've come up with so far.  I thought it was sharable because it is so much about God's word.

Equipping one another to serve one another

Under the over arching principle of love (John 13:34, 35, Romans 13;8, 1 Peter 1:22, 1 John 3:11, 23; 4:7, 11-12, 2 John 1:5, one another relationships are to be characterized by forgiveness (Colossians 3:13), patience (Ephesians 4:2), kindness and compassion (Ephesians 4:32), a lack of judgment (Romans 14:13), humility (1 Peter 5:5), fellowship (1 John 1:7), hospitality (1 Peter 4:9), submission (Ephesians 5:21), service (Galatiosn 5:13), instruction (Romans 15:14), teaching and admonishment (Colossians 3:16), acceptance (Romans 15:7), devotion (Romans 12:10), encouragement (1 Thessalonians 5:11, Hebrews 3:13, Hebrews 10:25) that spurs others on (Hebrews 10:24), and harmony (Romans 12:16, 1 Peter 3:8).

In other news, we have our first Hebrew test tomorrow (note the currently reading :o)).  Please pray that we don't get confused.

INSPIRATION!

Yesterday, Philip and I started our second year of seminary.  We were bemoaning the work load and all the challenges (i.e. Paper's and Hebrew Grammar) that lay ahead.  Then in our final class of the day we encountered an individual that really inspired me.

Mr. George Niemann is a current student at DTS. He is 74.  He is retired after working for Texas Instruments for 35 years and decided to get some theological education. He is getting his Th.M. from DTS so he can be a better sunday school teacher.

I think this is so amazing, because often when people retire they veg.  I was also challenged because I complain about the challenges of learning so much material but I have the great advantage of being 24.  This man has 50 years on me and he is striving to do the same thing!

Anyway, George is the hero of my day!

WARNING! Electical Meter on the Loose!

Last night Philip and I returned home to discover that we had no electricity. It wasn't a really good night for that because we had a ton of homework to do, but oh well. We decided to have cereal for dinner and do homework by candle light until it came back on.  About an hour later we realized that our neighbors had elecriticty but we did not.  After a bit of research and help from the apartment complex folks we discovered that our Electrical Meter had been stolen.  This meant that we no longer had electrical service.  You might be wondering why one would want to steal an Electrical Meter?  Aparantly, if you take someones meter you can plug it into another unit and steal electricity.  Interesting?  So...after about 4 hours without power we were given another Electrical Meter to call our own.  Thanks to TXU Electic Delivery for delivering a new meter to our humble abode!
