I figured it was time to post something since everyone was having to post replies on only one post.

Yesterday was my birthday, huzzah! It was rather piratey as the cake and tablecloth and presents were of a pirate nature. I got a cd player that looks exactly like the dead man's chest. Complete with glowing heart over the cd part. I also got a pirate stuffed bear from two good friends who came to visit two weeks ago :) His name is Jake.

Fall started a couple of days ago on the 21st. It's funny how those changing leaves sort of creep up on you until all of the sudden, you notice them and go, "Wait, when did that happen?" I have to say September is my favorite-est month of the whole year. Fall has the best mild weather, the changing colors, the fall cleaning...

I'm almost ashamed to say I have a new celebrity crush. Alec Baldwin. *ducks the throwing of things* Now wait! Hear me out! Yes, I don't really care for any of his recent stuff, but I absolutely love his performance as The Shadow. Apparently it did really bad at the box office, which is too bad I would have loved to see more of it. I was skeptical until I saw the movie...

Since when did Alec Baldwin get to be so...so...purty? I never thought he had it in him.

I broke my "silence" I spose you could call it and actually watched Heroes last night. Though I should admit that if The Big Bang Theory had overlapped it, I wouldn't have ended up watching it. It was a night of Premieres. Chuck is so obviously a hit, Heroes is starting its momentum by killing off someone (gasp, but who? you'll have to see it), and Journeyman, though I didn't see it, my dad loved it. On wednesday will be the premiere of Bionic Woman and Life, both which look really good. I wonder what Stephen thinks of Bionic Woman....

Guess that's all there is to tell.
The storm is over and we've been docked at the island we spotted for about two days now. It's a populated island of natives and they've been very helpful to us. The ship was needing some repairs after the storm, so we're going to make berth here for a bit until that's finished.

The captain seems annoyed with the delay, but despite that he's been in better humor than usual. It could be the change in the weather to the better. Or maybe he is confident we'll make good time once we cast off...the faster to get to the secret treasure he's after. Hawk and I haven't said a word about it since that one night. Maybe I'll get a chance to talk about it tonight when we're on shore. The natives are throwing us a party and the captain figured it would do us good to get some food and rest in us. Bos'n told me a tale of native cannibals in these parts and the different ways they catch people to eat. I think he was trying to spook me into not going tonight. It almost worked, but I saw the looks the other men were giving us as he told the story. None of them were buying it. So I'm not going to swallow it that easily either.

Almost time for supper...

The pelting rain made it very hard to see as I climbed the rigging. The ropes were wet and slippery, making my hands hurt as I climbed. My foot slipped once but I managed to hang on and get my footing again. I looked down towards the deck halfway. I could barely see the men moving around the deck. I looked out to sea. The waves looked twice as big from this high up. I could see one swell coming up at the ship. My blood ran cold for a second. I knew Red was watching me and there was no way he would let me live down being frightened while climbing the rigging after my acrobatics earlier. I swallowed my fear and kept going. The crows nest isn't as big as you'd think. Not much bigger than a small washtub. The mainmast runs through the middle of it. The pitching and rocking of the ship was worst up here. I wrapped myself as much as I could around the center post and hung on tight. I looked all around the ship towards the sea. North, East, South, West.....there wasn't anything but ocean out there. I managed to keep my hold on the mast while pulling my spyglass out of my belt and holding it up to my eye. The rain made it hard to see through it, but it was better than nothing. North, East, South...and there was a dark shape out there to the South. I tried to focus it as much as I could. A flash of lightning suddenly lit up what it was far off. Land! I put the spyglass back in my belt and cupped my hands around my mouth to yell down. "LAND HO!!!" I yelled against the wind and thunder. I couldn't really see any of the crew anymore from this height but I knew they were down there somewhere. A small cry from the Quarter Deck came back "WHERE AWAY?" I looked back at the shape and pointed, "OFF THE STARBOARD SIDE!!!" The ship turned under me as it changed course towards the land I had sighted. Another crack of lightning and thunder made me grip the mainmast all the tighter. I hoped with all of my very wet and cold self that we would make it there in one piece.

I woke to the crashing of the waves and men's feet pounding up the stairs to get on deck. As I sat up, the ship pitched to starboard and I went flying out of bed and hit the wall. The ship started to roll the other way and as I skidded across the floor, I managed to grab my shoes and clothes. By the next two rolls of the floor, I was dressed and attempting to tie down my few valubles that were rapidly becoming dislodged. One of the guys pounded on my door while he ran by. I grabbed an oilskin jacket, not that it would do me any good in the pouring rain, but it was something. My sword was tied to my belt and I flung open the door. The floor threw me out onto the deck willingly enough. I kept my footing by grabbing the starboard rigging. Water was everywhere, including the air. You could barely see five feet in front of you. As the ship pitched far to port, I hung onto the rigging for dear life. I could see the gray sea almost directly below my feet because of the angle the ship was at. An angrier ocean I've never seen. Enough to freeze the blood in a seaman's veins. The ship leveled off, and I heard a faraway call of "Sparrow!" Hawk stumbled towards me, grabbing the rigging I was hanging off of. He leaned close to my ear so that I could hear him over the wind and waves. "We need you in the crows nest!" I gave him an incredulous look, but it was lost in a wave that crashed over the both of us. When it had cleared, Hawk was already on the other side of the ship, tying down the lines that had come loose.

I looked way up the mainmast. They've got to be kidding, I thought. I couldn't even see the top from the spray of the ocean that was all around. I looked over at the helm, where for an instant, I could see the first mate was holding the wheel steady with the captain. Better at the top where I should be than in trouble with Red. I grabbed a spyglass and stuffed it into my belt. Grabbing the rigging, I pulled myself up and started a slow climb to the top.
