| Once again, I should be studying....BUTERIC AND I ARE ENGAGED!!! I don't even know where to begin, so I'll just start typing. This past friday I was nannying as usual. Since it was a nice day, I took Naomi to the beach. While we were there, I got a phone call from friend Janis (Naomi's other nanny) asking if she could meet us at the house. She had left her bag there the day before. As we walked into the house, I was shocked to see Eric waiting with a huge bouquet of flowers! I don't remember much, but I was told that I was staring at him and kept asking what he was doing there. Finally, Janis pushed me towards him and wished us a happy two years. This is where the lies began... Eric told me that since we didn't get to celebrate our two years together, he came out early to take me out for the night. He said only our Vince (our pastor) and his wife knew he was in town. We headed to my house to freshen up and rushed to our dinner reservations at Daniel's Broiler. We had some awesome steaks and an amazing dinner. Throughout the night he had given me cards with clues to our next destination. Our last one was at a park where we liked to walk around. The only problem was it was getting dark and the park closed at dusk. I was worried that my car would be locked in the lot or we'd be ticketed, so after only a few minutes we headed back. Eric said he wanted to go a different way (ie off the path) but I refused saying it might be illegal (oh the Nazi RA is still in me...). He coaxed me into following him and after a few words I realized what was going on. Before I had a chance to say anything he was on his knee holding open a box with my ring!! Of course, I screamed YES!!! immediately and snagged the ring out of the box before he even had a chance to blink. (oops! I didn't realize how rude that was) At that point, he confessed that he flew in the previous wednesday, purchased the ring and had my WHOLE family in on it!! Those stinkers! I have to say it was worth all the confusion they put me through. The flying in early was an extra bonus. It definitely added to the shock factor for the night!
Here are a few pictures from friday. Surprisingly we didn't take too many...we were too busy announcing the great news to our families and friends!

| I shouldn't be updating right now...It's about 2am and I shouldn't be up...at least not on xanga. The smart thing to do would be to sleep or finish up homework. Obviously it's too late for me to make wise decisions :) Since it's been over a month since my last update, and A LOT has happened, let me show you what's been going on. My cousin, Jessa has been visiting for the last couple weeks. She lives in the Philippines but has recently made it a tradition to spend her summer break with us (the poor kid only get April and May off). Since she's leaving soon, my sister and I decided to take her around Seattle. After telling her about a few options, she got super excited when I mentioned "Ride the Duck". If the picture below doesn't paint you an idea, I'll explain what it is. In a nutshell, the tour highlights sites around the city. Not only does it drive on land, but also plunges into the lake!

Myself, Jessa, and Christine :)
My hesitations about the tour stem mostly from the knowledge that the tours are lead by silly men such as our "captain" as featured below with Jessa. Not only did this guy tell incredibly corny jokes, but he spoke in a duck-like voice. Weird I tell you.
The tour started at the base of the lovely Space Needle.
Here's a look from the interior

On the left is Safeco Field where the Mariners (my mom's beloved team) play...it's really cool because the roof retracts depending on rain or shine :)

The waterfall at the headquarters of UPS

The exterior of a famous bookstore, or was it a coffee shop?...

The coffee shop seen here (it's underground) was the inspiration for the set of the one in Seinfield
A quick view of the wonderful Pike Place Market
WESTLAKE MALL-woohoo!

My sis, Christine

Jessa and me

Approaching the water...

See the brown houseboat, right next to the blue flags? That's was the original houseboat from Sleepless in Seattle

My beautiful city. As Eric pointed out, the Space Needle is much further from the city than postcards depict.

If you aren't too tired of pictures, here are a few snapshots of the cat I want. If only I could convince my dad that this cat is destined to be mine...

He didn't like the flash too much

| It's all gone!!ARGH! I was almost done with this update BUT no, the internet had to "quit unexpectedly". Whatever...
Since Jewel wasn't satisfied with the last post (haha...I'm just kidding around girl!) I thought I should post a "real" update. To be honest, school has been consuming my life. With 20 credits, I feel like there is constantly something I'm supposed to be doing- writing a paper, studying for a test, prepping for a presentation...and it keeps going and going. That's just my school life. Not to mention other aspects: family, church and friends. But surprisingly, I haven't been too stressed. I've been able to master the art of small wins . For those of you non-business students, this is a stress-reducing strategy that consists of many little goals you set to get you closer to your ultimate goal. For example, if I have a research paper due (ahem, maybe like one due this week) I would break the assignment down into the following: spend two sessions gathering research, produce an outline, make a draft, edit, turn in. By breaking down the project into smaller goals to reach, you feel successful when each level is completed. Basically it gets work done without making you feel crazy, therefore the name "small wins" is fitting. You guys should try it! It really works! Now to some fun stuff..
As most of you know, my hair was almost as long as I am tall (even though I'm short, that is still LOOOONG). I was getting very tired of styling it and it gave me headaches . So, last week I decided to CHOP IT OFF! It was a pretty spontaneous decision, I didn't even make an appointment. For the lack of planning, I did have a price to pay. I had to drive to four different salons to find someone who accepted walk-ins. Finally I did...
