Seems like all my xanga friends have abandoned me for "my space"

I haven't had many comments on the last few posts, so I guess people are simply losing interest. So, this is good-bye for now. I keep taps on some of you, but I won't be posting for a while.

I love ya'll!

Be good,

Be happy,

and call me sometime. (Phones still work, even in this computor crazed world)

Awesome Speech and Debate Tournament!

Emylee broke to regionals in 4 speeches and debate. She went 5 -1 in perlims - and the only one team beat her all weekend - The same team beat her in prelims as outrounds - and they ended up 2nd at the tournament! I have to brag - that's a mom's job!

Amanda broke in LD and duo. She's amazing - She has really stepped up and done a awesome job this year. I'm sooooo proud!

It's so much fun to see Emylee and Amanda working together - we go to practice the duo, and Sarah, Amanda, Emylee and I have so much fun together. We laugh, and laugh and laugh - and it's a serious duo!

Carlos and Kalynn and Chandler and I got to relive memories of tournaments long forgotten. Carlos and Kalynn judged the same round with two different outcomes - so argued over which was right - it was better than the original round

Got to spend time with Kathy Inkster - one of my favorite people -

It was like taking a break from reality

Now life begins again -

Today we have a walk through on our new house.

PACK, PACK, PACK, AND PACK SOME MORE

We close on our current house Friday and our new house next Monday

PACK, PACK, PACK, AND PACK SOME MORE

Saturday night Emylee and I are in charge of the disability dinner at church

PACK, PACK, PACK, AND PACK SOME MORE

Sunday, I think is Easter - I just remembered this fact - LOL

PACK, PACK, PACK, AND PACK SOME MORE

Meanwhile, I'm supposed to continue teaching my kids. Changing up Emylee and Amanda's duo to be a little more difficult. And working on some debate stuff for Em.

And somehow I'm supposed to cook and clean and wash clothes -LOL

Life goes on when the tournament ends . . . and there's always another one around the corner, to give me another break from reality.

Reading from a computer screen is like hugging a porcelain teddy bear

Quote by Me

There's just something about the feel and smell of a well-worn, well-read favorite book. There's a warm fuzzy feeling I get from slipping into my pjs, curling up with a soft blanket, sipping a cup of coffee and enjoying a favorite book. Sometimes I like to read things that stretch my mind - rereading each sentence just to make sense of it. Sometimes I like to read things I can argue into the silence about. Sometimes, I simply like to escape reality by traveling to unknown times and places and encountering new people. My kids will find me laughing out loud or crying into nothingness as I enter the pages on my lap. I love to read!

Some of my favorites books

Picture books:

Curious George

King George is in the Bathtub

The Bear who heard Crying

Children's books:

Pippi Longstocking

Anne of Green Gables

(one of two books which the book and movie are different - but you must experience both)

The Witch of Blackbird Pond

The Great Brain

Where the Red Fern Grows

(arguably my favorite all time book - I cry EVER time I read it)

Teen Non-fiction:

The Divine Dance

Biography:

Warriors don't cry

(you've probably never heard of this - but you must find it and read it)

Non-Fiction:

The Hiding Place

Don't Waste your Life

(and anything else by John Piper)

Fiction:

No Greater Love

The Scarlet Letter

Gone With the Wind

(the other one you must see the movie and read the book)

Books of the Bible:

Hosea

II Timothy

* an interesting side note: I was in remedial reading classes until 5th grade - I really couldn't read at all. Then in 5th grade my teacher read out loud to us (most of my favorite kids books were the books he read to me). I would go to the library and get books that he was reading because I couldn't wait to hear the end. At first it took forever to read the books, I literally taught myself to read over the course of that year. From remedial reading, to a minor in literature - all because of my 5th grade teacher. Thanks Mr. Folley!

What are your favorite books? And where is your favorite reading spot? And if you don't like to read, why?

The Ministry of Intercession

Here's some questions I've been asking myself lately:

Why do 75% - 88% of youth stop serving the Lord after they leave high school?

What can I do to change that statistic for the youth within my influence?

How can I encourage youth to fall in love with the Lord and not just play church?

How can I get teens excited about reading their Bibles, not because they have to but because they want to?

How come I pray like a wimp (telling God what I want, then excusing it as probably not in His will but if He wants to He can ...)

How can I become more of a prayer warrior, praying with power, ralizing God can and will answer my prayers?

I believe in miracles. I believe God can heal miraculously. I believe God can and will do so when it brings Him glory. I also believe he doesn't always choose to heal. It takes more faith to believe in a God who doesn't heal you, and can, than in one who always does. Sometimes it brings Him glory not to heal (Joni Earikson Tada). So God has given me a desire to pray for healing for certain individuals - how am I to pray?

God's will will be done with or without me. So, does God do things because I pray for them, or would he do it anyway?

I'm still praying and searching the scriptures for these questions. Let me know what you think. Love ya!!!!

MCBC Small Group Girls:

Did anyone not get enough sex talk last night?

Is there anything you didn't get to ask or share?

You can post it or e-mail it and I promise to answer!

Everyone:

I was reading a book on creative dates and this is my favorite "cheap date" (those of you who don't date - can save this one for marraige)

Play battleship.

Design paper boats.

Put blue food coloring in the toilet then float them.

Throw paper bombs at them and see which on sinks first.

Tell me if you try it!
