Currently Listening
Myself When I Am Real
By Bebo Norman

Hey one and all.  I am so excited as Mexico is getting closer and more of my dreams are starting to come true: to do full time ministry among least reached people, marrying the man of my dreams and living the calling the Lord has put on my life.

Plans are coming together in that Rasta and I are planning more of our wedding in Culiacan in October with inviting people, getting the reception food, and even a mariachi band.  We are also getting more supporters from Mexico that are helping with our first church plant there.  Rasta keeps hearing from people who want to join the church once it starts and it is bringing a lot of encouragement to us.

Please pray:

<>< for a place to live in Mexico City during the planning of our January wedding
<>< supporters to come up along side us in prayer and financial support
<>< organization and stress free planning of both the weddings
<>< good and clear communication between Rasta and I as we are so far apart and come                 from different cultures with different languages
<>< growth in my learning of Spanish

So, I'm back in the great, old United States of America.  I am finishing up college at Bethany College of Missions.  Let's just say that I am SO excited about the future.   Plans are getting finalized for getting married to German Luna Hernandez (see past blogs for info) and we are really getting a clear view of what God wants us to do for future ministry.  So, here's the plan:

<>< Get married in October in Culiacan, Mexico for our civil, legal wedding.
<>< Move to Mexico City to prepare for our church, celebration wedding on Jan 12, 2008.
<>< Move back to Culiacan to plant passionate, Jesus loving churches.
<>< Minister to people who have never heard about Jesus.
<>< Disciple Mexicans to find full freedom in Christ and to know the indefinate truth and love that is in Him.

Right now we are working toward getting support (we need about $550 per month) and bringing our vision to plant passionate churches to those who live and breath around us.

So, I know that it has been a REALLY long time since I've updated.  I'm sorry but life has been crazy.  Okay, for the last couple months here's what I have been doing:

Mision de Paz had a week long mission trip in the state of Mexico which I helped with.  We brought down a bunch of youth from Culiacan on the 20+ hour bus ride to get there.  It was very interesting for me to be surrounded by like 300 Mexicans and only 3 Americans.  Let's just say one thing: culture shock!  But it went really well.  We did a bunch of door to door evangelism, had great praise and worship, and good teachings.

Mision de Paz week

After the Mision de Paz week I stayed in Mexico city for about a month.  I went to a lot of different places, visiting people and having meeting about the future.  I also went to a church that I will be helping with once I go back to Mexico full time.

the church in Mexico City

Okay, so the other big news from the last week I was in Mexico:  I got engaged!

The guy is a Mexican missionary that works with Mision de Paz and I worked with in Culiacan.  His name is German Luna Hernandez, but everyone calls him Rasta because he used to have really long dread locks.  When in Mexico City I got to meet his family and his church (see above).  The plan is that I'm going back down there in Sept after graduation to plan the wedding which is in Jan 2008.  Then afterwards we're going to help with the youth at the church, I'm going to teach English, and he's going to take more classes for being a pastor.  Then after one year: church planting!

So, here he is (Rasta is on the right) with his older brother pretending to fight over the chicken (not in picture).

So, it's been about two weeks since I have written and it will be awhile before I do so again.  Here's what's been happening:

I have been continuing to teach English to the staff and students here in the week.  I specialize in the grammar part of the language, which makes for fun explanations sometimes.  But it has been good and it is something I really like to do.  It's great when you teach something and you can see it being applies later on.  I have also taught the class Worldview to the students here on Sat.  I did have a translator for that class, which was a big help.

We are still mobilizing for the mission trip in Mexico state that starts this Sunday.  We have been going around to different churches to meet with youth and pastors.  We also have been helping out with random church evangelisms.

This Sunday night we all leave for a the mission trip that will last for a week.  We will be having teachings on missions, worship, devotionals, and door to door outreaches in the city.  We will also be doing dramas and playing with the kids.  It is a great opportunity for youth to get involved in missions and for us staff to lead others with the missions experience we have.

For two weeks after the mission week I will be staying with the base director's family in Mexico City and his little hometown further out.  Going to meet different supporters, churches, the base in Mexico, and different cultural observations will fill the time.

Please pray:

<>< safety on the 15-17 hour bus ride down for the trip

<>< God to open doors for the mission trip

<>< youths' lives to be changed who go on the trip

<>< wisdom and endurance for leadership

<>< grace and strength, with a deeper knowledge of God as I am finishing my time here in Mexico

So, it's been awhile.  I have been busy here with my mom visiting me this last week.  It was a great week full of relaxation and fun for her.  We went to the camps one day, to the mall, the center of town, and the circus.  She was supposed to leave yesterday and fly out of Mazatlan to go home, but with an accident on the road she ended up missing her flight.  Therefore, we spent yesterday at the beach and stayed at a Pastor's house for the night.  An adventure for her, normal missionary life for me :)

Here's some pictures of us together:
