Hey girls...

Hey girls...

Nika's previous post, to be honest, i agree with herto a certain extent.

1) This is a deadly disease, and guess what, i have been promoting it. Guess that just shows how far away from reality i had gotten.

2) I know recovery is NOT easy, trust me i know, i hvae been trying myself to just be normal. And omg was i a failure at that?

I myself, think that Nika have somewhat of an ed, however it might not be as bad as many others. And luckily for her she realized it in time. And stopped. U guys like me, might not have realized it in time, BUT it is still not too late.

I know it is soo hard to let go, i cant even bear to close down my sites. Even though i know that recovery wont happen till i do. I actually do want recovery, so i should close the site yea?

Another thing that is HARD to accept when taking hte decision to recover is that you havent reached your goal, you are still nto satisfied, and in a way you kind of want to be THAT skinny before you stop.

I think that is the number one reason i havent taken my decision yet.....

Oki so the decision i HAVE reached is, to leave BOTH my pro anorexia sites, not close tehm, but leave them. That will aloow me to come back and start positng anytime. But before i give up and do that, i will have to try life without these sites, not life without anorexia cause i know that wont happen jsut like that.

So i wont be updating for AT LEAST the next month, i might come back i might not. However i will keep updating on my personal site, www.xanga.com/justjoey So if u want ot keep up at how i am doin etc, feel free to hekc that one out.

I dont know if Nika will update.... This is not a decision a talked to her about so there is still the possibility that she will make a couple of updates. There is also the possibility that anorexias voice will get too loud and that i will come back. She can be very loud when u go against her.

Some good recovery sites i have found are:

www.mirror-mirror.org

www.something-fishy.org

These ahve links to other sites too, girls please consider this. I know it is hard, and i dont even think i will be able to do it. i think i am the kind of person who needs to get to the point where i am practically a walking skeleton before i will stop, in other words i need to get scared shitless before it works... else i will just keep relapsing. But i am willing ot give this a try and see if i cna avoid the walking skeleton part of it. I guess i feel "fake" trying ot recover hwen i am this fat... (in other words, how can i say i am recovering form anorexia when i am this fat??).. I knwo how they always emphasize that you are in physical danger alreayd way before u get so underweight htat they need to feed you thorugh a tube in order to prevent you from dieing. And i knwo hwo they emphasize all the time that any size can be anroexic.

These are the medical criterias for being diagnosed:

  1. Refusal to maintain body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for age and height (e.g., weight loss leading to maintenance of body weight less than 85% of that expected; or failure to make expected weight gain during period of growth, leading to body weight less than 85% of that expected).
  2. Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, even though underweight.
  3. Disturbance in the way in which one's body weight or shape is experienced, undue influence of body weight or shape on self-evaluation, or denial of the seriousness of the current low body weight.
  4. In postmenarcheal females (women who have not yet gone through menopause), amenorrhea (the absence of at least three consecutive menstrual cycles).

    • Restricting Type: during the current episode of Anorexia Nervosa, the person has not regularly engaged in binge-eating or purging behavior (i.e., self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas)
    • Binge-Eating Type or Purging Type: during the current episode of Anorexia Nervosa, the person has regularly engaged in binge-eating OR purging behavior (i.e., self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas)

HOSPITALIZATION CRITERIAS:
Severe weight loss and malnutrition:
-Weight <75% of ideal body weight;
-Weight loss of (>/=)=30% in 3 mo;
-BMI < 14 and inability/unwillingness to gain weight.
Dehydration
Electrolyte abnormalities:
-Hypokalemia, especially if K is <2.5 mmol/L;
-Prolonged QTc;
-Arrhythmia;
-Marked hypophosphatemia (<1.0 mg/dL)
Physiologic instability:
-Severe bradycardia (<40 bpm);
-Hypotension (systolic BP <70);
-Hypothermia (<35°C);
-Orthostatic changes in HR and BP, syncope.
Arrested growth and development
Failure of outpatient treatment:=>(usually 3-6 mo,but sooner if medical condition deteriorates)
Acute food refusal
Uncontrollable binge eating and purging
Acute medical complications of malnutrition:
-Syncope;
-Seizures (hypoglycemic,hyponatremic,bupropion and other medications)
-Cardiac failure;
-Arrhythmia;
-Mallory-Weiss esophageal tear;
-Gastric rupture;
-Pancreatitis
Acute psychiatric emergencies:
-Suicidal ideation;
-Acute psychosis
Comorbid diagnosis that interferes with treatment of the eating disorder:
-Severe depression
-Obsessive-compulsive disorder;
-Severe family dysfunction;
-Substance abuse

These hospitalization criterias are GUIDELINES, nothing more. Dont go thinking htat people wont hospitalize you cause u aren ot ksinny enoguh, not true! Irst of all there are inpatient programs, where you are hospitalized not just becuase of physical condition. Some people cna also be so bad off mentally htat htey need hospitalization(usually a result of hte eating disorder, not becuase you have some other disorder). Sometimes they also hospitalize girls simply to try to scare them out of it. THIS IS A VERY BAD IDEA!!!! Also take into considertaion, that if hte outpatient program doesnt work they will put you in a hospital. People especially parents tend to panic about ed's.

The hardest eating disorder ot recover from, and the one that will most likely kill you(compared to others) and the one that is hardest for proffesionals to deal with is siad ot be anorexia. I dont know why exactly.

20 % of anorexics will die before recovering.

Then 10 % (out of the original 100 %, meaning 10 out of hundred) will die later of complications they have becuase of anorexia. THIS IS EVEN THOGUH THEY HAVE already recovered...

In all 30% will die from this disease. 25 % of all women who get breast cancer will die within five years. Obviosuly more women get breast cancer than anorexia. Meaning hte mortality rate of anorexics are higher htan those with breast cancer. Take into account that hte number of anorexics are increasing while breast cancer has been decreasing sicne 1992 by almost 2 percent a year.... On top of that, you will if you have severe anorexia and you dont die but survie for hte rest of your life have complications. Complicationgs that cna kill you.

So now, why is it that some girls think this is glamourous??

I encourage those of you who can to STOP!!

Love Joey....

i jsut posted this psot on my other site. However i feel really bad about leaving htis site cause i ahve put much more work etc into it. Well i will not update for a while...

Please listen to me, dont do this to yourself. Whatever eating disorder you might have, you cna win over it you dont have to live in hell. U dont fucking deserve to live in hell... And i am sure you are not fat! i know it is hard...

Love Joey..

Oki so here goes, something easy..

THAT WORKS! I do it and after doin it for about 1 week i can already tell a idfference, muscles respond quickly girls:D

Regular Crunch

1. Lay on the ground with your feet firmly on the ground and your knees in the air. Place your arms behind your head for support.

2. While keeping your stomach tight, light your head up off the ground.

3. Lower your head back down so it almost touches the ground.

Tip: To avoid bending your neck forward and straining it, try keeping your eyes on the ceiling while doing

Reverse Crunch

1. Lay on the floor with your arms supporting your neck. Keeping your legs together, bring your knees up so your legs form a 90 angle.

2. In a slow movement, bring your knees in towards your chest.

3. Move your knees away from your chest, bringing them down a little past the starting position.

These are both great, more abs tomorrow!!

Some tips for keeping your water fast...:

- Drink hot water, it can be tea, but WITHOUT  sugar. It fills you up.

-When u feel like eatin, jsut think of this " when i am skinny i can have chocolate cake, all that i want". IT wont hurt you not to eat it, you cna always have some later.

- Look at yourself naked in front of the mirror. If that doesnt work, tyr doin jumping jacks naked in front of the mirror.

- U can exercise even though u are fasting! It will take your mind of food.

- THINSPO:

- Make yourself pretty, put on some makeup etc.

- Make rules, for example if u love music then u tell yourself u nca only listen to music when u have succesfully finished your water fast.

- KEEP YOUR MIND BUSYADN KEEP AWAY FROM FOOD!

- Last, a water fast is not that hard when it is only 24 hours... U can do it easily..

Lots lots and lots of al that wonderful clear pure water..! Think fo the kick when you see bones beneath your skin, it is worth fasting for.

This is an example of how my posts will look during hte fast..

Vitamins are good for you. Everyone knows that. But do you have any clue what each one does or where it can be found? No worries. It's HG to the rescue with the lowdown on all things vitamin. Weeee!
Vitamin A

What it does: This antioxidant is important for keeping eyes healthy, and is also necessary for keeping bones, teeth, skin, and hair strong and well maintained. The beta carotene that's found in Vitamin A may also protect you from getting cancer or heart disease. Way to go, Vitamin A!

Where to get it: Vitamin A is especially present in brightly colored fruits and veggies. In fact, the richer the color of the food, the more beta carotene it contains.  So some great sources of this important vitamin are the prettiest fruits and veggies -- apricots, asparagus, broccoli, cantaloupe, carrots, kale, skim milk, pumpkin, spinach, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes.

When you don't have enough: Luckily, the body stockpiles this vitamin, so it's hard to become deficient in it. If you do, though, you may experience night blindness and dry eyes.
Vitamin B

What it is: There are 8 essential B vitamins.  All help the body break down fats, proteins and carbs, thus providing you with energy. B vitamins are also important for liver and intestinal health, as well as being effective in alleviating depression.  As if all that weren't enough, the stuff is also great for making hair and skin look healthy, vital and shiny.

Where to get it: In addition to being low cal and delicious, whole grain cereals, eggs, skim milk, nuts, fish and green leafy vegetables are all also fantastic sources of vitamin B.

HG Heads Up: Since many of the foods rich in B vitamins are animal based, vegetarians are at risk for a vitamin B deficiency!
Vitamin C

What it does: Vitamin C's biggest claim to fame is it's ability to aid in the prevention and treatment of colds, flus and other illnesses. This super vitamin helps the body fight off stress and infections, and maintains red blood cells. And that's not all. Vitamin C is also known for lowering cholesterol, blood pressure, and fighting asthma and diabetes.  Sounds like vitamin C is workin' overtime!

Where to get it: Citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, tangerines and lemons are the most obvious dietary sources of vitamin C.  Some lesser known sources include blueberries, strawberries and tomatoes.  Mmmmm.

When you don't get enough:  A lack of Vitamin C can result in hair loss, dry skin, bleeding gums, nosebleeds and muscle weakness.

HG Tip: Eat zinc-rich foods with your vitamin C to help your body absorb the helpful vitamin more fully.
Vitamin D

What it is:  Vitamin D is known as the "sunshine vitamin."  The body naturally produces the stuff when the suns rays shine upon us.  Luckily, you don't need to be a sun-worshipper to get the benefits of this vitamin.  Just a few minutes in the sun each day is enough to meet daily requirements.

What it does:  Vitamin D is essential for helping the body absorb calcium. Not surprisingly, then, it's important for bone, hair and teeth health. It is also helpful in boosting the immune system.

Where to get it:  Besides the sun, you can get vitamin D from food sources like salmon, tuna and sardines.
Vitamin E

What it is:  Vitamin E is a group of seven compounds known as tocopherols.  They are alpha, beta, delta, epsilon, eta, gamma, zeta, Sneezy & Doc (ok, we lied about the last two).

What it does:  Vitamin E helps preserve vitamins A, B, C and others by fending off damaging free radicals.  It also increases endurance and stamina, and boosts your immune system.  And since it improves circulation and blood pressure, it helps prevent heart disease.  Impressive.

Where to get it:  Load up on vitamin E with almonds, asparagus, avocado, broccoli and whole grains.
Vitamin K

What it is:  Vitamin K is a group of vitamin compounds.

What it does:  Vitamin K's main job is to regulate blood clotting, prevent hemorrhaging and keep blood flow healthy.

Where to get it:  Cheddar cheese, spinach, green leafy vegetables, asparagus, alfalfa and broccoli.

When you don't get enough:  A lack of Vitamin K can lead to nosebleeds, bruising, and, over long periods of time, osteoporosis.

Vitalicious Double Chocolate Dream VitaTop + 1 tsp. peanut butter

(130 calories, 4g fat, 253mg sodium, 25 carbs, 6g fiber, 4g protein = 2 points)

It'd be very hard for you to find a better couple than PB and chocolate. Trust us. Well the combo of HG's white chocolate chip-studded chocolate muffin top, with a smear (or a shmear, depending on where you're from) of peanut butter is almost enough to make your head explode.  Your head WON'T actually explode (we promise), so no need to fear this simple and delicious recipe.

Jolly Time Healthy Pop Kettle Corn Minis + CocoaVia Chocolate Bar

(150 calories, 5g fat, 200mg sodium, 30 carbs, 6g fiber, 2g protein = 3 points)

What's it gonna be?  Something sweet  & sassy or something salty with a crunch?  With this awesome pairing, you don't have to choose.  Just melt half of a CocoaVia chocolate bar (the bar kind, not the snack ones that are crispy) and pour it over your freshly popped kernels.  You will ABSOLUTELY feel like you're being "bad" when you aren't.

(85 calories, 2g fat, 230mg sodium, 18g carbs, 1g fiber, 2.5g protein = 2 points)

We love Jell-O's 60-calorie-per-cup sugar free pudding snacks.  Who wouldn't?  We also love 100 Calorie Packs of Oreo Thin Crisps.  So it shouldn't be a big surprise that we absolutely LOVE both of these diet-friendly treats eaten together.   The key is to put a quarter of the bag of oreo thin crisps in a baggie and crush 'em (it's really fun to pummel these little guys --we're not sure why!).  Then pour your freshly crumbled cookies into your pudding and enjoy your very own guilt-free mud pie.  Weeeeeee!

Medium Apple + T. Marzetti's Fat Free Caramel Apple Dip

(110 calories, 0g fat, 39mg sodium, 29 carbs, 3.3g fiber, 1g protein = 2 points)

Ahhh...caramel apples.  One of life's guilty pleasures, huh? Um, not really. Now you can enjoy apples dripping in ooey gooey caramel for not-so-many calories or fat grams.  Yes, we know this is our SECOND apple-tastic caramel couple in this email, but we don't care at all.  Just slice up your favorite kind of apple (granny smiths are often preferred due to their tartness) and drizzle 2 teaspoons of  T. Marzetti's Fat Free Caramel Apple Dip on top.  Do it!

Strawberries + Hip Whip

(60 calories, 3g fat, 1 mg sodium, 9 carbs, 2g fiber, 0.5g protein = 1 point)

Strawberries and whipped cream isn't exactly a new and exciting combo -- we know this (doy!).  However, we bet most of you have never tried hooking 2/3 cup of sassy strawberries up with 4 Tbsp. of the cool 'n creamy vegan favorite, Hip Whip. This couple is worth hanging out with, even if you have to be a third wheel...
