Glove Guard

I have started my summer job that lasts a total of five weeks. Yay! I like working for GLove Guard. The people love the Lord and love to have fun. They are so funny! Hannah and Kara Butler are training me before they head out of town next week. We have had some great conversations this week. I will miss them once they leave. So I like working. Now I am faced with thinking about what to do with the next six weeks of my summer before my return to Marshall. Still praying about that. Definitely don't want to spend this time doing nothing, because that is so boring! We will see what exciting things God has planned for me. That is an update on my life. Not much else is going on at this very moment.

Today was the first busy day in a while. I went to ladies meeting, played with babies, talked with Emily, and had fun. Then mom and I went to lunch and I visited with old teachers while she did whatever it is 7th grade math teachers do. Then mom and I went shopping for a dress to wear to all the weddings I am attending this summer. I am attending at least 5 weddings, possibly 6, if everything goes as planned. The gas money situation will be interesting. I start work at Glove Guard on Monday. That should be fun. Now that today has been busy I am tired. I took a nap and that was nice. I am ready to wear a swimsuit and go swimming, but that is most fun with lots of children. I might do it later. Who knows?

I am home... for the summer or at least until August. Then I will move back to Marshall where I will be a first grade teacher. I am so excited about teaching. I am now a college graduate. I am now a grown up. Weird. I am not sure I will ever think of  myself as a grown up. I think of myself more as a child in a 22 year old body. I have a job for a month and that is exciting. Not sure what is going to happen after that. There is the dilemma of needing money to live on in Marshall until I get paid, but there is the desire to do no work that feels meaningless, pointless, useless, such as flipping burgers for McDonalds, being a cashier at Foleys etc. Ideally I would get a babysitting job. I love working with kids. Or I could do volunteer work/ summer missions type stuff. I really don't want to waste my summer being lazy either, I just don't want to do work that feels pointless after all the years I have spent in school to earn a degree. I know that the Lord will lead me, but I really like to have more of a game plan than the one I have now. I am continuing to pray about it. This week I am recovering from the craziness of the end of the semester. Really, all I have done since coming home is sleep. I have needed it. THis morning I slept until 8:45 AM. That is way late for me. I was really proud of myself. I am ready to be back to myself though. My body likes routines and schedules and summer messes that way up. Once I start working there will be more scheduledness for me. FOr now I will enjoy having nothing more than house work to do.

UPDATES

Dear few faithful readers,

I apologize for making you wait soooo long for a real post and update on my life. Right now insanity rules as I prepare for graduation. I have a job teaching first grade at Crockett Elementary in Marshall, TX for the new school year. YAY! I can't wait. I have been pondering my classroom rules, setup, and routine. I am so excited. there is a possibility that I will teach some of the same students I did this semester. I am now having fun searching for a place to live.

Josh is still around. I make it sound like I don't want him. I really really like still having Josh around. We have been officially a couple for almost three months. He has been very supportive as I have made him listen to me think as I talk about decisions I needed to make. Don't think I have not prayed, I have. It is just that sometimes you need a rather unbiased source to listen to you think as you try to make a decision, or at least I do. SO I say all that so say that Josh is amazing and I love him dearly.

That is a quick update on my crazy life. Sorry it can't be longer, but I can't really think of anything to say.

The Big Picture by Jenny B. Jones

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

The Big Picture

(NavPress Publishing Group April 15, 2008)

by

Jenny B. Jones

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Jenny B. Jones is the author of A Katie Parker Production series. The other books in the series are In Between and On The Loose. Though now an adult, she still relates to the trauma and drama of teen life. She is thrilled to see her writing dreams come true, as her previous claim to fame was singing the Star Spangled Banner at a mule-jumping championship. (The mules were greatly inspired.)

Jenny resides in Arkansas, where, as a teacher, she hangs out with teens on a regular basis.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Sometimes there’s a fine line between comedy and tragedy—and Katie Parker is walking it.

School is winding down for the summer but Katie Parker is having a bad day. After leaving the drive-in, where her imploding love life was the main attraction, Katie arrives home to a big surprise on the Scott's front porch.

Her mother, Bobbie Ann Parker, a former convict and recovering addict, wants to take Katie away from her family, friends, and church. Now Katie's life will be changed by a series of dramatic choices as she struggles to understand what family and home really means.

Katie is forced to walk away from In Between, leaving behind a family who loves her, a town drive-in to save, and a boyfriend who suddenly can’t take his eyes off his ex. When the life her mother promised begins to sink faster than one of Maxine’s stuffed bras, Katie knows she needs to rely on God to keep it together.

But where is he in all this? Can Katie survive a chaotic life with her mother—and one without the Scotts? And if God is there, will he come through before it’s too late?

A Katie Parker Production series offers teen girls real-world fiction balanced by hope and humor. The The Big Picture helps us realize that the difficult chapters in our journey are only part of God's big story for our lives.

You can read the first chapter HERE

"A heroine to love. Jones just gets better with every book, and The Big Picture is her best one yet."
~BARBARA WARREN, author of The Gathering Storm

"Such inspiration in a package of fun and faith!"
~EVA MARIE EVERSON, author of the Potluck Club series
