PTG Studios is pleased to announce the selection of French Camp Academy for its innovative, educational television series, Pulse on America. The ministry will be featured in a segment on “Touching hearts, changing lives “ as part of a series on superior Christian education.

French Camp Academy, located near Jackson, MS, is a Christian boarding school founded in 1885 for teenagers who come from broken or troubled backgrounds. Not a reform institution or a college prep school, it is considered a safe environment for young people in crisis to live and learn, and the school is proud of its reputation to change young people’s lives.

French Camp Academy is a 900-acre community within a community. Approximately 300 young people and adults live and work there. They are directed by a Board of Trustees and supported by many who pray and give regularly. The Academy is surrounded by the community of French Camp, and the roots reach back to the Natchez, Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians. Steeped in history, this southern community is 90 miles north of Jackson and 80 miles south of Tupelo.

Many of the young people who attend the Academy share many common disadvantages, including: overwhelming feelings of anger, fear of abandonment, lack of discipline, disrespect of authority figures, feelings of unworthiness, sense of academic inferiority, or one or more learning disabilities. The Academy believes that until these young people know that God loves them and they are taught how to overcome these disadvantages, they will grow up to continue the cycle of dysfunction and despair which has them in its grips. This scenario is detrimental to them personally and detrimental to society as well. Alarmingly, the numbers of these hurting children seem to be growing every year.
The Academy is committed to create a warm and nourishing environment reflecting the values of a Christian family and a Christ- centered education, a powerful combination that can bring about a radical change of life.

Imagine this--100 million people in the world can only crawl. Years ago Don Schoendorfer bore witness to this as he watched a precious woman pull herself across the dirty ground, crawling in the streets of Morocco. An MIT-trained engineer with his doctorate, Don right then made the conscious decision to use his talents and gifts to change the lives of millions of helpless people like the woman.
In 2001, Don created the Free Wheelchair Mission, based in Irvine, California, the non-profit organization’s mission is to transform lives through the gift of mobility. Many of the recipients are the poorest of the poor in developing countries and are constantly exposed to dangerous living conditions. Disabled by land mines, diseases, accidents or birth defects, this is the only life they can aspire to, unless they receive help.

FWM is a Faith-based nonprofit organization that provides the wheelchairs to the needy and is driven by faith in God. This significant mission cannot be taken lightly,” said Free Wheelchair Mission President and Founder Don Schoendorfer, 56. “The wheelchairs are not only lifting the poor off the ground physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well. This effort goes far beyond politics, race, sex and religion”.

Wheelchairs give mobility, independence, dignity and hope, forever changing the lives of the fortunate ones. To date, FWM has distributed over 130,000 wheelchairs in 50 countries. Free Wheelchair Mission partners with like-minded organizations to distribute wheelchairs free of charge to the physically disabled in great need. A wheelchair offers recipients a chance to work, to relieve the burden on their friends and family, and to enjoy their human rights and physical and spiritual independence. Free Wheelchair’s Mission’s vision is to distribute 20 million wheelchairs by 2010. FMW plans to ship 200,000 wheelchairs in 2006.

The segment, Reaching your world for Christ, will be featured in “Until the Whole World Hears” series. The FOCAS segment will air, during the holiday season, in many of the top 100 markets nationwide.
The mission of FOCAS ministries is, through Christ, to transform lives: those of young people in Over the Rhine, which is the inner-city of Cincinnati, and the children and youth on the island of Haiti, teaching them the truth and the power of Jesus Christ, and offering tender loving care.
The evangelical organization was founded in 1986, by Richard P. Taylor, as a non-profit, Christian corporation. His vision was to help the desperately poor in Haiti with their basic needs: education, food and medicine. His dreams to improve the lifestyles of the impoverished and less fortunate have materialized and expanded into multiple projects.
One of those projects is the Child Survival Program for the children of Haiti. Established in 1997, the goals of the Child Survival Program are to substantially reduce disease and death among the children and women of childbearing age, to offer high quality health care services through five program clinics and to help the indigenous partner organizations to successfully operate sustainable programs. The program also assists families with HIV/AIDS prevention, child spacing services and provides them with safe drinking water and sanitation resources.
FOCAS is also making a difference in Haiti through its Child Sponsorship Program. Several hundred children, many of whom would not be able to attend school, are getting an education, medical attention, a school uniform and a hot lunch incorporating the Gospel of Christ.
Through evangelism and programming, God has used FOCAS to lower death rates and malnutrition in Haitian children, while improving health conditions. For example, in FOCAS’s service area two-thirds of Haitian children are being immunized; and, healthy and sanitary deliveries of babies are being performed.
“We have quietly served in some of Haiti’s poorest areas for 20 years to help infants survive the dangerous early years and help kids get a basic education. I am delighted that FOCAS has been approached by PTGTV to tell our story in time for the holidays,” says Dick Taylor, Executive Director and Founder of FOCAS.
Programs have also been established in Over the Rhine, Cincinnati, where FOCAS ministries have been providing a safe place for children, young male adults and the homeless in three inner-city programs: The Lord’s Gym, the Lord’s Pantry and the Nicholas Hoyer Sportsclub. These safe havens function to meet the individuals’ needs but also to let them hear the “Good News” of Jesus Christ.

In 1914 his son John Baptiste Fiscalini established Fiscalini Farms, which now has 1400 Holsteins that provide the outstanding quality milk for the cheese.

Already recognized among his peers for his state-of-the-art dairy practices and the exceptionally high quality of milk, John Fiscalini became interested in continuing the artisan cheese tradition of his ancestors. Attending seminars and classes held by the California Milk Advisory Board and Cal State Polytechnic San Luis Obispo, he began to make his dream a reality. After visiting cheesemakers in Switzerland and Italy, John built the current cheese facility on the family-owned dairy, and began making his own hand-crafted cheese.

The cheese-making operation is housed in a dedicated facility at the dairy, where traditional cheese-making practices are utilized at every stage. Much like a cellar where fine wines age to maturity, the wooden racks of the cold room are filled with farmstead cheeses aging to perfection, anywhere from a few months to over two years. Their cheddar is white, as nature intended cheddar cheese to be. (Yellow and orange cheddars have been intentionally colored.)

Farmstead means: “Artisan-style cheeses made from milk obtained from animals located on the farm where the cheese is made.” Thus, Fiscalini Farms insure that they have “happy” well-cared-for cows so they can “control the entire process from beginning to end.” Indeed, Fiscalini’s dairy, which exceeds state and federal milk-quality standards for both conventional and organic dairies, was the first commercial dairy in the U.S. to receive animal-welfare certification. “It is our intention to make the best quality and most flavorful cheese possible, while holding a reverence for our cows and the land which produces our crops,” says John Fiscalini, “just as our ancestors did in Switzerland.”

Mariano Gonzalez, the “cheese maker,” creates the products with California milk and traditional English farmhouse aging methods. After the cheeses are produced, he ages them in a cheesecloth wrap instead of a plastic-wrapped package used by most other companies. Fiscalini’s cheddar is usually aged for about 18 months to 2 1/2 years. The company produces about 4,000 pounds of cheese per week.
