somewhere between the procrastination, the homework, the friendships,  & the nasty cafeteria food, the calls to old friends, the i miss you`s, & the i love you`s, & the what are we doing tonight`s, somewhere between all of the changing and growing, & the skipping classes, the studying for tests,  & the downright not studying, i forgot, i forget what it meant to cry . . . i forgot that pretending to be happy doesnt make you happy. i forgot that pretending to be smart didn`t make you smart. & that pretending to be ok doesn`t make you ok. i forgot you just can`t forget the past in fear of the future. i forgot that you can`t control falling in love. & that you can`t make yourself fall in love. i learned . . . i learned that i can love. i learned that it`s ok to mess up.& it`s ok to ask for help. & it`s ok to feel like crap.  i learned that it`s ok to ask for help. i learned it`s ok to complain & whine to your friends for a whole day.  that somehow they`ll make it better. i learned sometimes the things you want most you just can`t have. i learned that the greatest thing about school isn`t going to be the most popular or going to parties. or drinking -- not even the hookups. it`s the friendships, which means taking chances. i learned that sometimes the things we forgive & forget are the things we need to talk about most. i learned that letters from friends are the most important things. & that sending cards to your friends makes you feel better. but basically, i learned that my friends, old & new, are the most important people in the world *

Best friends hang tough. They don't come with ¡®Fragile¡¯ stickers and are not easily scared off, or ticked off. Best friends help you out whenever they can, make time for you even when they don't have any, and trust your friendship enough to say ¡®No¡¯. Best friends are cross-your-heart-and-hope-to-die, good-times-and-bad-times, borrow-anything, tell-you-everything, trust-you-with-their-deepest-darkest-secrets, always-and-forever friends

For so long my heart ached for friends ¡¦ true friends ¡¦ who I could laugh with and cry with, and who, through thick and thin, would always stick by me. And I have learned through experiences that these types of friends are hard to come by. And when you find them you have to hold on and never let go because you will never again find friends as true as them.

Friendship is more than just a phone call or a birthday present every year. It is more than just a ride to the mall or a study partner. It is a person who is by your side and sticks with you ¡¦ just when you feel you¡¯re on your own.

Friends are ones who are there to catch you when you fall. The ones your closest to... and know all your embarrassing secrets. Who knows you inside and out. Who are confidential with whatever you tell them, no matter what its about. You are able to tell them anything, and they can tell you anything in return. You don't just get along well.... you feel like your siblings, who don't fight. And even if you do get in a fight, you find a way to forgive them. You also find ways to tell them what's on your mind, and can talk over any hard times you may be having, or to just chill and hang out. Your practically inseparable. You give each other great advice, while respecting their opinions and beliefs. Even guys couldn't come between you. Now think about your closest friends... your best friend? And always keep in mind: Fights last for hours-days, perhaps weeks. But a friendship... a friendship lasts a lifetime...
