| I feel the withdrawal convulsions already coming on...
We just finished Season 4 of Smallville tonight. That's it. That's all she wrote. No more to watch until Season 5 (the current season on TV) is out on DVD. I'll have to figure out some way to pre-order it so I can receive it as soon as possible.
We watched four seasons of a TV show in less than two months. That has to be some sort of record. Albeit a sick and thoroughly time-wasting record, its still must be one. Anybody know the number to Guinness Book?
Well, till next time.

| We're going to have a baby!
We just found out a few days ago Lacey is pregnant! Jaden is going to be a big brother!
So, she should be approx 5 weeks along now. That means our new baby will arrive early to mid October!
Oh, and don't worry, its not a surprise. We've been trying for a few months now!
We have a lot of changes ahead of us. Good changes. Godly changes. We can't wait! | | |
| Today, I met with Pastor Rick and Bishop Charles Scott for lunch. Its official, Lacey and I will begin formulating our strategy for our new ministry within the church.
In regard to my most recent entry, I began to discuss our niche in ministry, or a hole we see that we would like to help fill. That hole is called Financial Knowledge. The church body lacks it. The church body needs it...so intensely. So, Lacey and I, prompted by the Holy Spirit of course, went to Pastors Rick and Bev Brust (our Family Life ministers) and shared our hearts, dreams, and what we believe is a ministry God has prepared us for. They were so very supportive. They were also excited. Which is good...because we were scared. After talking to Rick and Bev, they decided that we should meet with Bishop Scott about this. Bishop has the very same passion inside of him. Once again, I was met with support and excitement. Which, once again, was good...because I was scared.
I have to say, there is nothing like having two men ---leaders of our church, shepherds, God appointed men--- sitting in front of me excited about what I and Lacey are willing to pursue. That feels good. That is comforting. That is confirmation as to the next road God is about to lead us down. That, my friends, is what we've been praying for.
Our financial classes or small groups won't actually begin for a while. But Lacey and I are very excited to begin studying, preparing our hearts and minds, writing curriculum (which involves buying books...YEAH!), and presenting more information to our Pastor and leadership staff. Please pray for us. This will be no small undertaking.
By the way, God chooses small people to do big things so He will get all the glory.
Godspeed.

| Somebody stop me! We purchased season 3 and 4 of Smallville last night. I just can't help it! A season normally costs $50. Both seasons were half off at Target ($25 each). What was I supposed to do? Walk away? Come on, that's just not rational.
I've been under the weather this weekend. Kind of a cold/flu thing. For a while I'll feel OK (after the Ibuprofen and cough medicine), then it comes back on again. So, its been a good time to lay back and watch to much TV. However, Lacey needed a nap. She claims she can't sleep if there's a Smallville on. So, like a good husband, I set my needs (ha!) aside and decided to blog.
I've had a certain niche in ministry placed on my heart for quite some time now. I'm not going to describe it yet, simply because its a lump of clay desperately in need of a Potter. But I've recognize God's direction for this one. Lacey shares the same calling on her life as well. God seems to have given us talents that complement each other very well. I think he's about to begin using them for his Body. So, keep us in prayer this week as we present ourselves to some of the church staff to "unveil" God's pressing on our hearts. Please pray that God uses his appointed leadership in our church to mold what he has placed in us. Lacey and I have been discussing this for a while now. When we made the decision to meet with some leadership in the church...well, it really scared me. The business student in me had the following fear-based knee-jerk reaction: "You have to be prepared for this meeting. You better have a good outline, business plan, and a nice PowerPoint or you'll just look stupid." As I naively, yet wholeheartedly, argued this fear-based point with Lacey, she disagreed (wisely of course). You see, I can't control this any more than I can control the Mid-West weather. I get that now. So, we're going to simply make ourselves open and available to the leadership in our church, make our talents and what little God-given experience we have known, and let God form this as it should be. No pre-conceived ideas of how this is supposed to happen. So, please pray for us.
Why does God choose people who feel so little to do His work? I know the text-book answer to that question, but the question still seems to remain unanswered nonetheless.
Jaden just woke up from his nap. Lacey is attempting to nap. So, that means I'm done here for now.

| Like the music? Its Mat Kearney. The album is called Bullet. My bro Grant introduced me to this album last year. Its not my genre...not even close. But its good stuff and now in my lineup of favorites. This song is called "Won't Back Down". It will probably be on my blog for quite a while. | | |
