I haven't posted for an awfully long time.
Someone hinted that I should, and so, I shall.
RCY Challenge was really a memorable experience for me. I really gained alot from the camp. Much more, compared to the school-based camps I have continually been thrown into during the last few years of my student life. I guess it could be because it was a Red Cross camp, or it could be because I opened up a little more during the last 4 days... Whatever it is, I enjoyed the camp immensely.
I won't recount all the incidents that happened during the camp... Okay, maybe I will, but I shall list them out instead...
1) Archery (Enjoyable yes, but disappointing. Haha! Failed terribly! But no matter, at least, I tried!)
2) First Aid and Evacuation (I was told to facilitate the games with the other ULs. Reminded me alot of my days at Peer Leading...

)
3) Mountain Biking (At Pulau Ubin...)
4) Street Soccer (Yeah, soccer... But in the jungle!!! Haha!)
5) Rope Challenge Course (Okay. I should elaborate on this one. We had a few stations to complete. I started with the Transverse Bar. I basically had to catch it while jumping from this pole at a height. My legs were shaking loads when I was up there!!! Haha! Although I could not catch it, it was fun. I don't mind trying one more time... The second station, was the Tight Rope walking... Hohoho. That was fun! And the third was walking on the log... Haha!)
6) Abseiling (I kept on dropping...)
7) Rock Climbing (The very first time I've reached the top!)
8)Dragon Boating (Although my group did not win, I would never forget this...
1, PULL, 2, PULL, 3, PULL...!!!)
7) General Station (I thought this was the best of all stations. It was a pity that Alpha did not get to do this first (We did it last), 'cause it really bonded us much much more. I felt that of all the stations, this was really
the one that challenged Alpha to our limits. Brain wrecking, Back-breaking course... Gosh...

)
This being the first time attending a RC camp organised by the HQ, I was practically thrown into some sort of an unknown environment. I did not know what the expect, at all. I'm so glad and grateful that I was surrounded by great camp mates, who helped me through thick and thin. Thank you so so much! I never thought that I could have actually learnt so much during 4 days. Alpha is going to be the first and last group I'll be in. We were the first to lose our flag... Although not a really honourable thing to do, I guess going through that really took alot of team spirit. Especially when we had to stand in front of the whole of RCY Challenge to get our flag back... After that, our Alpha Mentors told us this,
"We break the record of being the first group to lose our flag! So why not break the whole record and be the first group to win the lanyard! Alpha, we only have two days left, and alot can happen in two days."
That was it. Although Alpha did not manage to get the division lanyard, I could see the improvement in the A division as the days went by. We were catching up. But time was not with us, and we lost it.
However, as our Alpha Mentors have said, 'Although we did not win the lanyard, we are still champions in our hearts.' I believed we gained alot as a division. And whatever it is, I know that the Green will always win, as long as we challenge ourselves to achieve.
