| I've been missing from Xanga for the week, mostly because two new gadgets have stolen my attention. A new car and a new cell phone. Let's start with the phone.
Last weekend I was hanging out with Avalon in the living room. It got kinda quiet, so I turned around to look for her. She was heading towards the bathroom. With my cell phone. With the toilet seat up. I watched from across the room as she dunked my phone into the water...NooooOOOOOOoooooohhhHHHHhhh! At first, after drying it off, it seemed like the buttons still worked. An hour in, pressing 6 dialed CPK and dialing 1 pulled up iTunes. And forget about completing a text message that someone could actually read.
While I was waiting to become eligible for an AT&T phone upgrade in January, I now had to purchase a new phone...in September. So yes folks, I bought the iPhone. And like most people, I am hooked. It is exactly what I needed in my life. I have the perfect husband, and two wonderful kids, all I needed was a phone that could do everything. Now my life is complete. Oh but wait. Now, on to the new car.
10 years ago almost to the day, I walked into a Mazda dealership and bought my Protege. It had 14 miles on it, and I thought it was fantastic. I had that car through most of my adult single life, it took me to late night parties, it drove me to and from Fresno when I dated Rick, and so on and so on. It wasn't causing me problems, but it had been ten years and quite frankly, Rick was pressuring me to get a new car. He planted the seed, and I ran with it. So, 2 Mondays ago I test drove a used car at a dealer, and this past Monday and went back and bought it. It took a week to 1) list my car in free used car magazines, 2) reorganize money from different bank accounts to cover the down payment, and 3) research the car for sale to make sure it was a good buy. Buying a new car can be HARD work! Anyway, I think I really scored on a GREAT used car, and I'm happy with the choice I made. It's always scary buying someone else's car, because who knows what they've put the car through! But this car is a 2004, has only 22,000 miles on it, and it only had 1 owner. Oh, and it's a certified pre-owned car, with a warranty on it until 2012. Can't beat that!
Typing this post I realized I need to go take pictures of it!
The best part of the car is it has airbags galore in it. My family can't ask for more safety! |
