Things I've noticed lately

Avalon will dance to any music she hears. TV commercials, video game background noise, elevator music in stores, she's not picky.

Loudoun likes to make deals: I can't stay up longer? Then I'm not your friend. I can't play my video game for 10 more minutes? Then I'm not your friend.

Our response of "That's ok" drives him crazy.

Avalon is an oreo cookie snob. We buy the little bag of mini oreo cookies, and she breaks them apart, figures out which side has the icing, and drops the boring cookie side on the floor.

Avalon refuses to hold our hand when we walk her to and from the car to daycare. But if Loudoun goes to hold her hand, that is her FAVORITE!

Loudoun loves to play I-Spy. He could play that game all day long. It's one of my favorites with him.

Stopping breastfeeding with Avalon is waaay harder than I thought it was going to be. It is 180 degrees different than it was with Loudoun, who weaned himself at 8 months. I don't know if the child is different, the time in my life is different, or if I am different as a mom. In any event, the emotional roller coaster involved is no fun.

Driving a new car makes getting up early in the morning easier. No, really!

Health insurance companies' coverage of birth control is RIDICULOUS. Birth control should be free. Period. Buah ha ha.

I could do without having to work everyday. Really, I could stay at home and be juuuust fine.

I've been missing from Xanga for the week, mostly because two new gadgets have stolen my attention. A new car and a new cell phone. Let's start with the phone.

Last weekend I was hanging out with Avalon in the living room. It got kinda quiet, so I turned around to look for her. She was heading towards the bathroom. With my cell phone. With the toilet seat up. I watched from across the room as she dunked my phone into the water...NooooOOOOOOoooooohhhHHHHhhh! At first, after drying it off, it seemed like the buttons still worked. An hour in, pressing 6 dialed CPK and dialing 1 pulled up iTunes. And forget about completing a text message that someone could actually read.

While I was waiting to become eligible for an AT&T phone upgrade in January, I now had to purchase a new phone...in September. So yes folks, I bought the iPhone. And like most people, I am hooked. It is exactly what I needed in my life. I have the perfect husband, and two wonderful kids, all I needed was a phone that could do everything. Now my life is complete. Oh but wait. Now, on to the new car.

10 years ago almost to the day, I walked into a Mazda dealership and bought my Protege. It had 14 miles on it, and I thought it was fantastic. I had that car through most of my adult single life, it took me to late night parties, it drove me to and from Fresno when I dated Rick, and so on and so on. It wasn't causing me problems, but it had been ten years and quite frankly, Rick was pressuring me to get a new car. He planted the seed, and I ran with it. So, 2 Mondays ago I test drove a used car at a dealer, and this past Monday and went back and bought it. It took a week to 1) list my car in free used car magazines, 2) reorganize money from different bank accounts to cover the down payment, and 3) research the car for sale to make sure it was a good buy. Buying a new car can be HARD work! Anyway, I think I really scored on a GREAT used car, and I'm happy with the choice I made. It's always scary buying someone else's car, because who knows what they've put the car through! But this car is a 2004, has only 22,000 miles on it, and it only had 1 owner. Oh, and it's a certified pre-owned car, with a warranty on it until 2012. Can't beat that!

Typing this post I realized I need to go take pictures of it!

The best part of the car is it has airbags galore in it. My family can't ask for more safety!

All this time I have been trying
to figure out how to fatten up my
below 5th percentile weight baby
girl, and I finally have the answers:

milkshake chicken mcnuggets

Chocolate milkshakes and chicken nuggets.
I couldn't pry them out of her hands if I tried.

Loudoun: Mama, why does Woody have gum on his butt?

Me: Hmmm, I don't know.

Loudoun: I didn't put it there!

Yeah kid, cause I snuck into your room in the middle of the night and put it there. And yes, that is Snorks in the background.
