Coming Up to Breathe

Wow... I haven't posted on here in forever... probably because I've been running around like crazy over the past few weeks. I've only got one more day of classes tomorrow and then 2 papers and 1 final before I'm done for the summer. I'm really looking forward to that... it'll be nice to have a few weeks before the summer starts. Maybe I'll be back updating regularly once classes close up next week.. it's just too crazy right now...

Here goes nothing... I haven't posted since Wednesday night and plenty has happened between now and then. I'm sitting in my normal Dinosaurs class posting this today, so if I seem distracted, it's because I have a test in here on Thursday and am still not really sure what it is about. So... Thirsty was absolutely amazing... God showed up in a mighty way last Thursday night during the Communion service and I really felt His presence in the room with us. Chris Tomlin played a couple of new songs and Matt brought one... all I have to say is that these guys are writing some more incredible music for the Church and that these songs are absolutely amazing. I can't wait to hear them more once they get released.
So... Friday turned a little crazier than it was supposed to be. Carrie at sixsteps hooked me up with a few comp tickets to the Crowder/Third Day Show in Chattanooga and thus Gabe, Jonathan Howard, and I went up for the show. It was a lot of fun and the only complaint I have is that Third Day didn't play "Consuming Fire!" Other than that, I had a great time with two people who I don't get to hang out with as much anymore as I'd like to.
Finally, the weekend came and went while I worked at InsideOut on Sunday morning and worked on a take home test that my teacher gave me a small extension on since I was at Thirsty. Now, I'm back in the scheme of things at class and Hillsong United is gonna rock the world tonight at 722! Here it comes! I gotta try and pay some attention to this dinosaur stuff... so until later... BOB-O OUT!

Here's a quick post from my hotel room at the Thirsty conference. Things are amazing here as we have finished our first day. My feet ache and I am really tired... so I'm making this quick. Charlie Hall kicked off the conference this afternoon with a great set and Louie spoke. I didn't hear the message yet, but I'm sure it was great. Everybody else was talking about it! David Crowder and the guys played tonight and brought the house down... then Charlie had a coffeehouse as a Late Nite. It was a great time today and I had a good one selling all of the merch. It's going great and I wish everyone reading this could be here. BOB-O OUT!

My Review of "Everything Glorious," the brand new Passion CD

So, I decided that I would post a quick song by song look at the new Passion06 CD which is in stores everywhere in just two short weeks on April 4. I was working over at the office today and was able to obtain a copy and have not taken it out yet.
1 - Awesome is the Lord Most High - Chris Tomlin
This song is a great way to kick off the album and is a great song of praise just saying how great God is. I think the song has a really nice kick to it and really does great in helping us to enter into God's presence as we celebrate His awesomeness.
2 - Glorious - Chris Tomlin with Christy Nockels
This song is absolutely amazing and Christy Nockels shines through with her beautiful voice and the song is just wonderful.
3 - Party - Chris Tomlin
I'll be honest that I really don't like this song very much and lyrically... it's pretty much nothing. The song has a great beat though and the Party clap is very addictive...
4 - Jesus Paid It All - Kristian Stanfill
Ever since we sang this at 722, I have loved this version and was really excited to see that it made the CD. There's simply no words to describe this one.
5 - All We Need - Charlie Hall
This song is great live and I really think that all of Charlie's songs have an extra kick of energy when they are used in a large corporate worship setting.
6 - Center - Charlie Hall
This is a wonderful song on "Flying into Daybreak" and as it's done in this large group, it sounds simply amazing. The song is great and then Charlie leads everyone in "Turn Your Eyes" which is quite incredible sounding.
7 - We Are Yours - Charlie Hall
This is a song that was created from the bridge of "Song of the Redeemed" on "Flying into Daybreak." To put it frankly... I don't see any reason to why this needed to be extended into 4 and 1/2 minutes. It sounds cool and all and I love Charlie's stuff, but it's just so repetitive and really does nothing.
8 - You Never Let Go - Matt Redman
Matt's new song (and only offering on the new CD) is great. I've heard it a few times at the two Indescribable Tour dates I saw and this song is a great reminder that God is always there for us no matter what goes on in our lives. I think this song kind of sounds like a sequel of sorts to "Blessed Be Your Name," but I can't complain... it's a great song.
9 - I Stand Amazed (How Marvelous) - Chris Tomlin
This old hymn is one of my favorites and Chris' arrangement is wonderful. I really really really was hoping that this would make the CD and was excited to see that it did and hear how wonderful it sounds.
10 - Everything Glorious - David Crowder Band
This title track stands out as a great song by the Crowder guys. The quote that gets to me everytime is "You make everything glorious and I am yours... what does that make me?"
What an amazing thought about how God views us as His even when we lose our way.
11 - You are my Joy - David Crowder Band
This song is amazing live and the suspense parts of it are great. I'm getting tired, so I'll just finish fast.
12 - We Win - David Crowder Band
This song is just kind of weird live, but it really sounds great on the CD. A surprisingly winning track.
13 - Our God Reigns - EVERYBODY
This seems weird if you don't know what happened at the conference... it's a simple 4 line statement that's repeated for 6 and a half minutes. It's all right and a great way to end the CD, but it just seems that there could be a better way to do things at the end.

I'll have more things to discuss later this week, but I wanted to give a quick look at how great this CD is... until I have time to post again... BOB-O OUT!
