| Someone else is feeding The Yowly One. I saw an empty catfood tin outside.

| HablandaSo, there is a cat that hangs around my place. Hangs around and won't go away, like Fatty, only not nearly as pitifully ugly as Fatty--a tigrish grey with white. But mainly what stands out about it is that is has a very human-ish sounding voice. When it meows, it really sounds like it is saying Meow. And sometimes other things. It's very interesting to listen to! I call it Hablanda. It's quite friendly and I am halfway hinking about adopting it in an outside sort of way for while I am here. As in maybe get it some food. Then again, I have bird feeders.

| Yay, my wonderful husband is here this weekend. He got Friday off and so did I and he came down Thursday night and it's been very nice. We're grilling tonight, yum. | | |
| Bleh. I know I haven't written in ages. Since the end of April it looks like. Those who are close to me (probably most people who read this anyway) know all the important stuff that happens in my life. I lean more towards phone calls than anything if I have news. Now that I am by myself, I am leaning even more towards phone calls. It's been a long week. I'm just in a weird mood. Certainly functional, but not really getting into any of it. I like my new place, but it's definitely turning out to be lonelier than I expected. I can entertain myself all right, but life is just better when my husband is here. Period. Fortunately work and church give me a little socialization, and I have a cuddly little Sassy bird, and plenty of unpacking type stuff to keep me busy for a while. But still...not the same. I'm sure part of my emotional state is due to the two cockatiels going AWOL the beginning of this week, and me down here and helpless to contribute to any efforts to get them back. *sigh* Not that it would have necessarily made a difference, but there's something about being able to try... But I love my new keyboard. It's very relaxing to just sit down and play. But again, emotional for some reason. Like I said, in a weird mood. Oh, and in case anyone wondered, my bruise is doing well (a very bad peench from the big parrot - not intentional - she was falling and I happened to be the thing she tried to use to stop herself on the way down...by holding on with her beak). Having iced it right away and wrapping it too, there is a small lump but no other swelling, and it's actually turned out to not be that black and blue at all. It has faded very quickly. (And the family who was there knows how hard she bit!) And after the first night when it happened, not even painful to speak of. I just think about how much worse it could have been...if she had grabbed something other than my arm, or if she had grabbed bare skin instead of through my sleeve. Time and again I see God's faithfulness not in that bad things never happen, but that I can see God's preservation in the way they do happen, keeping them from being much worse. And I am very thankful for that. Well, I'm tired so I'm going to get ready for bed. Toodles. | | |
| Well, I've been at the new job for a month...and my schedule is starting to relax finally. Last week tax season ended, and after all the overtime we got Friday off. I spent my day off and the lovely weather of the weekend getting caught up on my Spanish work *sigh*. I didn't even get to play paintball. On the bright side, I did get all caught up and that's a big load off. Next week is the final and eating out at a Mexican restaurant. Work hours being back to regular, it's easy enough to go in a little early to make up the time. Bird update...nothing that exciting really. Smoky and Pickles learning new whistles. Pickles likes to chatter at night, with the lights out, when they are going to sleep. He/she and Sassy have sorta a crush thing with each other, so we try to keep them separated. At least they like each other - I'd rather have to keep them apart for that reason than that they are attacking each other. Sassy...adorably cuddly and remarkably well-behaved. I love to take him out and he's wonderful to just hang out, he will just snuggle in and sit quietly with me for a long time, or if he's feeling particularly affectionate, nibble me and push his beak against me (I have decided that is his version of a kiss). He also likes to take a bath in my hands in the sink at least once a week. Suki is...still Suki. Independent, doesn't like to be left out, but we have to be carefuly letting her out of her cage unsupervised, as she loves to chew electrical cords... Hummm what else. I'm very sleepy today. Ready to go to bed early! I'm looking forward most of all to two weeks from now when I have no more working evenings, I'll be free from 5 or so every evening, I can play tennis, and do a lot of Spring cleaning...yukk, but it needs done, and I'll finally have the time for it. I think I'll probably just make myself a very detailed list and tackle it a bit at a time. Although once I get rolling I'll probably take it a pretty big chunk at a time. And it will be nice to get it done! Still not sure when we will make it up for a visit again. As always, if anyone gets a weekend free and wants to come down and visit, give us a call! | | |
