  •  I love hearing about all that God has done at Urbana!!! :)  Tell me more everyone! :)

Yestreday, I got to have lunch with miss Andrea Garner and it was so nice!  It's just so nice to have a friend who you know you can just hang out with--- and be absolutely comfortable with! :)  We ate at this nice Vietnamese restaurant called Anise and then we went and tried Gelato 64 across the street in the LeeLee's plaze!  Guava!  Mmmm! very yummy! :)

Oh! Then I went and got my haircut--- At first I thought I look like a boy-- but it's growing on me :)

    Here's a pic I just took!

  • Whew!  An entire semester over already!  Only one more to go!  I think I'm ready to be done.  But, the last week has been fabulous!  Being in the East Valley makes me so happy.  Maybe, it's because I know where everything is here(less than 15 minutes from mall, bookstores, movie theaters, LeeLee's, Target, Walmart, Andrea's house, etc ) , maybe it's because my closest friends are all close by, maybe it's because  there's always people in  the house-- so I never have to feel completely isolated--- maybe it's all of the above!  Whatever the case is-- it's been great!  I love being at home and having so much to do.  I've already read 3 Young Adult books (my favorite) and bought 5 more , I've watched some of my favorite movies with some of my favorite people (my siblings), and I've seen so many of my friends from out of town (Nipa, Nafisseh, Nono, Elizabeth, and I'm having lunch with Mollie in half and hour).  On top of all of that, I went with my sister to Disneyland!  So much fun-- for descriptions and pictures, see her Xanga site sueishenhua    Alas, all this fun is fast coming to a close as school draws near and my vacation comes to a close.   I guess I have to go back to my apartment, and start being a grown-up again, and having responsibilities, Haha-- but hey-- I guess at the old age of 24 years and 3 months, I can no longer sing my life's theme song: "I don't wanna grow up, I'm a toys 'r us kid...."  haha-- I woke up one day and WHOA-- I'm an adult-- how did this happen?!  Well, just wanted to send out a much belated HELLO!  and MERRY (belated) CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Let's see what Jesus has in store for us for 2007! Another adventure about to begin....

  • Hmm..... I have just realized that it is a Friday evening, I've completely lost my cell phone (I think I left it on my desk at school) and I am definitely addicted to my cell phone.  I feel so lost without it-- like I've lost all connection with the outside world-- and yet, less than 3 years ago, I was perfectly fine without it!  Strange-- it really is a leash--- yet an addictive leash that I'm not prepared to do without!

So, new school year-- and ending last year-- I ended up mostly liking my students.

HOWEVER, 3 weeks into the new school year,  and I am absolutely head over heels for my students this year!  They are adorable!!! All 170 of them!  I rave about them!  So much more mature, respectful, well-behaved-- loving to learn-- cooperative-- and just absolutely ADORABLE!!! Love them!!  I have one student who tried to teach me the "secret baseball team" handshake the other day-- one who stayed and chatted with me for a long period of time-- one who asked me if Chinese people are Asian -- another who comes into class with a huge grin on his face everyday-- another who is quite the teacher and gets up to do problems while explaining EVERY step so well-- another who is so attentive and just tries so hard  (it moves my heart)--  a genius of a freshman taking advanced Sophmore classes.  I also have a set of identical twins in two different classes (who just happened to be in the same seat in the seating chart)-- and I just figured out last week that they were different people!  I also have another twin who sits and works so hard and desires to understand.  I have another that comes in and says "what's up Ms. Wong" every single day when he walks into the classroom.  i have another that stands up for me when other students are lashing out in frustration and I have 2 or three that sits there and it seems like they knows nothing-- yet they blow me away with how accurately they understand everything!!  I love seeing when the lightbulb of understanding goes off in one of my other students and she just beams-- and wants to share her new found knowledge and wants to help others!  I love it!  I love it that my students are respectful enough to wait until I've finished saying something to sharpen thier pencils and that they go outside to blow thier nose and that they are willing to wait for me to finish one thing before I get to thier request and that they mostly do thier homework and really want to do well on thier tests.  I love that they are intuitive and they don't hold grudges when I have to move them or discipline them and that they are just pleasant to be around!!  I love it when one of my students (who used to bring a guitar to class everyday) actually says that my Chopin music playing in the classroom is cool.  I love my kids that are having kids of thier own and yet they are so reponsible that they still come every day and work hard and have personal goals of graduating and doing well.  I love seeing each of them everyday.  They are so cute.  I just love my kiddos!

(haha-- Oh, by the way-- my "kiddos" are 16-17 year old sophmores and juniors in high school )
