| Night Before!!!This is the night before, and i'm psyched!!!!!!!!! I'm getting those nervous butterflies... I don't know WHY I'm nervous, but once I get registered and such, my excitement will overpower my nervousness. Earlier tonight, mom, dad, Kevin and I all went shopping for food for me to take with me to Florida... all I have to do now is clean up the mess I made in my room from packing and load my car and I am on my way!!! I'm only taking a trunk and a laundry basket full of food with me... my dad will FedEx my laptop when it gets shipped to the house (it doesn't come until the 21st and I'm leaving tomorrow-- the 19th). But Disney has a computer lab at the appartment that I'll be staying at.
For those who are thinking about staying at Disney to visit this fall, I think I can swing upto a 40% discount for hotel accommodations. Food, when eating with ME (a Disney employee) is 20% off (but at certain dining restaurants). I'm bringing my digital camera with me, so I plan to take A LOT of pictures while over there.
Well, again, I believe that is all I can write for now. I'll type again when I can find an opportunity to type. But until then... This is Goofy, signing off!! | | |
| Drousy SundaySitting at home, Sunday at noon... I only just woke up not only a half-hour ago... my mom, dad and brothers should be coming home from DCI today (Drum Corps International) later this afternoon... Katie just went back to Ball State this past Friday afternoon for band camp and for the fall. Well folks... Less than a week away before I leave to go to Florida!! Although I'm still nervous about the outcome of my Psych. test... My GPA has been sitting on the edge of the fence all summer if i get less than a C this semester, it would push my GPA under a 2.0 ... But if i get like a C+ or higher... I would be able to stay in good standing and go to Disney... I HATE WAITING FOR GRADES AFTER FINALS!!! Anyway... I'm confident that I passed it decently... I passed the final with a 100% and did some extra credit, so It should keep me up in the A or B range... The prof. says that at the beginning of the summer session, all students began the class with an A and scored our grades from that. I bombed only the second test out of 3, got a C in the first one, and aced the third... I didn't do one paper worth 10points, but i went to an extra credit lecture session that was worth the equivalent or more (a guest lecturer came from University of Arkansas and gave a short lecture to ISU). So I'm confident that I passed decently... Plus the prof. is a nice guy... he says that if someone is bordering on, say, a C+ He would try to bump them up to a B- or if its a D+ to a C- etc........ As you can see... I'm just very anxious too see my grade... Well, thats all I have for today, I shall keep this journal up to date... Ciao!! | | |
| Disney is getting closer!!The day is drawing nearer!! As my summer classes are drawing near their end, the days are counting down... I am leaving to go to Florida on Saturday August 19th (I believe) with Kevin. We're road-tripping down there so I can have my car while down in the good ol' Orange State. He's going to fly back home in time to go back to school. I'm getting sooooo excited AND nervous at the same time!! Excited for obvious reasons, but nervous because its something new... I've always been very weary about going a long way from home for a long period of time... but my excitement over comes my nervousness. I know this is a great opportunity for me-- networking through one of the greatest corporations in the nation (maybe even the world) in the entertainment industry.
I have learned through the internship website that when I get down there, I register at Vista Way on August 21st between 9am-1pm... at registration, I also am given my room assignment and I find out who my roomie is, I get a bunch of information about what I'm supposed to do after registration and attend my Traditions classes for the next 2-3 days after registration. Traditions is pretty much the "training" of the job I'm down there for. It also teaches each cast member (Disney's special name for their employees) Walt Disney's dream and how to go about making children's dreams come true. So Traditions is the most important thing I am going to have to do, besides moving in and getting acquainted with people and such. Traditions, as I understand it is where I also learn to be Goofy, how to sign his autograph and how to act like Goofy. I feel that I'm going to have TONS of stories to tell you all back at home (in Terre Haute AND Rensselaer).
I also plan to make a little mini video presentation while I'm down there. I am bringing my digital camera and taking pictures and shoot a few short video clips and present it to you all and sharing my Disney experience with you all. I may also give a copy to the Disney Representative here at ISU to use as a promotional tool for other Disney enthusiasts. That is going to be my little mission project while I'm down there (and remember, I said I "plan" to make this little mini video presentation... but sometimes plans can be spoiled... so don't hold your breath... I also have distance classes to think about besides work).
Well, this might just about do it for now. I'll tune back in later...
