    p.o.v.

I was just thinking about how intriguing it is to me that a person can so easily be swayed in his or her opinion by another's perception of something. For example, one day I may view someone quite favorably only to find out that someone close to me has been hurt by this person; all of a sudden, that individual -- having done nothing to me, personally, mind you -- is cast in a negative light. Does anyone else find this phenomenon interesting? Perhaps I'm just thinking too much (as I tend to do quite frequently).

Last night, I watched the movie Vantage Point (which I recommend as a pretty sweet action, suspense film, by the way) and the different perspectives were really captivating. It makes you question what you know because no individual has the full picture, and only when you are placed in the audience with the omniscient point of view do you fully understand what has transpired.

This is true for me in a number of areas of my life, I believe. Obviously, I am limited in what I see and know as an individual who has much left to experience in life, but so often one person's opinion or point of view on a matter influences what I think about something. I wish that I knew a great deal more about so many things which would enable me to have stronger opinions on my own, but alas, I just don't know enough about so much.

Anyways, I'm not sure how connected and coherent those thoughts actually were, but I just felt like rambling a little bit to no one in particular. So, there's that.

Back to life away from the computer! :)

  • I am being forced to post something against my will... what kind of blogging service is this? Honestly, I have to keep my site "active" in order to maintain it and prevent someone else from taking my username? Who on earth would want MY username??? I mean, really???

Anywho, I need to go for a run, do my laundry, eat some food and clean my room. Three cheers for Fridays! :)

    xanga??

Ooh! Rediscovery of the world of xanga! Holy smokes, I haven't blogged in forever. I suppose I reasoned that not many people would care to read my ramblings which is probably true, but I don't feel like exerting the energy to clean my room, hence the computer has captured my attention for the time being and here I am pointlessly typing away.

The school year flew past. I mean, I really have a hard time believing that I'm a rising junior already. Yikes. I'm going to be busting my butt and applying to grad schools soon. That's pretty frightening if you ask me (which you didn't, but that's beside the point). A few highlights from this school year would probably include my victorious completion of running "the (dreaded) mile" for the first time in my life -- score for being a deprived homeschooler! lol; my incredible survival of classes and work in general without losing all sanity; my unbelievable blessing of friendships and socialization; and, finally, my bittersweet acquisition of my first personally-owned vehicle (the expenses which have ensued are less than fun, but I love the car!).

At the moment, I am quite exhausted from teaching swim lessons, so even blogging is taking too much out of me to continue much longer. I think I shall retire to my bed for some quality reading time. If anyone still reads this and wants further update-age, feel free to comment! Otherwise, I shall ramble more when the mood strikes (i.e. sometime next summer. haha).

    Ciao!

super quick update to hopefully be done more justice in full later... (does that even make sense?)

    life is busy (as always).

hahaha, okay that's a little too short... umm, it is downpouring outside and i really don't want to go out there, but i need to make it to d-hall to get food before working out, so brave the weather i must. while talking like yoda apparently. and wow, i am SORE from working out on Monday. this is shaping up to be a fun week indeed (sarcasm).

this is terrible grammar and punctuation, but i haven't updated in so long that i feel obligated to post this... hopefully the awfulness of it will encourage me to do it over again more fully later this afternoon or something. we shall see.

    hope y'all are doing well!

    yes, I AM still alive...

alright, so let me tell you how much of an idiot I was today before I backtrack to fill you in on the past... two months of my life.  Okay, so today I had to work from 10-6 teaching swim lessons with an hour break to drive to a different pool for the second half of my day (naturally, I got a little turned around trying to find my way there... because I'm me). After that, I had to scurry home, stopping to get gas in the car first, to change before running off to babysit. WELL, I managed to transport the three children in a minivan (that's right, I was totally in the whole "soccer mom" element) back to their home and get the youngest to bed and begin the process of helping the other two brush their teeth and whatnot when I PASSED OUT in the bathroom and woke up to an upset child and another one calmly telling me that I slipped on the tile floor. *groan* talk about feeling irresponsible. I had been so busy all day in the heat that I had neglected to stay hydrated and eat enough so I fainted when I was supposed to be taking care of children. Bravo, Elizabeth. Such a role model. *shakes head in dismay*

Now, back to... umm, May. Rockbridge was incredible while at the same time a bit overwhelming and challenging for me as a fairly inexperienced bass player, shall we say? I mean, I know what I'm doing in general... sort of. But I am by no means an expert or a super-fast learner, so all of the new music and last minute preparations for worship from time to time got to be a little overwhelming. The social time I got to spend with the worship track and my fellow chapter members was really meaningful and fun though. I'm definitely hoping to go back next summer.

May-June was almost entirely filled with teaching swim lessons and babysitting/recovering on the weekends. According to my friends (or Pierce at least), I was in hibernation or something. haha

This past week was my relief and mid-summer break with a refreshing visit from Megan which included everything from sidewalk chalk and water balloons to late night movies and a fancy dinner. Basically, it was amazing.

Well, I should finish my Gatorade and get to bed in order to be functional for work tomorrow. Until my next update... maybe before school starts in August?  haha, ciao!

oh, p.s. synchro competition in Hawaii next week. super excited! I'll be sure to take pictures.
