dirt under my nails

ok I've disappeared into my garden[s] upstate and in the city
compost is free
time is lose
and my seedlings are busting out all over..June
Jersey and the Catskills..
who knew I could be consumed by weeding and digging? and
well...
then there's this whole historic renovation/restoration, reinterpretation going on
just survived the heat wave/ tornado
half of a huge tree about 5 ft tall fell on the neighbors house across the street
while the attic/eaves were so hot I could throw batter on the slanted walls and jackson pollock pancakes would fall off.
summer is full on campus touring is full off..what to do?
put in new kitchen..windows..air blast AC units
reuse the salvaged cobblestones buried in our front yard for a garden path
reuse the 70's kitchen cabinets in the cellar as workroom tool storage
nest nest nest
ok nuff for now
plastering n sanding n wallpaper stripping awaits
PS saw Sex And The City mvoie
fun lots of eye candy
not as great as I ahd hoped
but still great fun
and happy to see Jennifer Hudson in a fun role. Nothing like seeing an american idol 'loser' continue to be such a winner

POST Rutgers RU INIT -

the sound of powertools above pipes wood sawdust - and mutterings n in polish from the polish contractors -one looks like supermariobrothers circus strongman with semi handlebar moustache, the other has a hot crew cut and a nice smile
too bad I only knwo a few phrases of polish, meanwhile hack wheeze sniffle cough-
allergens
I am in full allergy mode hack hack cough whine whine
I even called my mommy. woof
same old same old
pollen is the enemy right now, though i am loving nature and blossoms and magnolias forsythias
but my sinuses are NOT.
pollen is the new kryptonite
ok RUTGERS - OMG RU INIT
Ramapo was quite impressive
part ballroom part hairstyle photoshoot
half the time i was looking at their styling dance moves, the other half I was looking at her hair, she really could whip her head around, and her partner was quite confident in whipping her over his shoulder and around the room as well.
I think St Peter's couple was really fun daredevilish, their lifts looked more dangerous, maybe cuz their whippings were not so polished, more manhandled and chaotic-gasping and cringing -though still quite memorable, there was one move where she was just perched on his shoulder and then he dropped her upside down like a yo-yo!
maybe its my allergy medication, but I am still wondering how she got out of that dance move without a fractured skull.
-not to worry, there were more than enough nursing students in the room :)
2nd place was, eek I can't recall the school name, but i can say they wore green/sage for their 2nd number and were very sharp and comfortable with their moves and choices.
i chatted with some students afterwards, and some of the St Peter's COlelge memebers, I was like OMG I didnt even knwo there was an AASU/FASA at St Peters, Im literally 5 blocks away. small world. big pinoy population.
ok the allergy pill is kicking in, my eeys are drooping
but my nose is still snigffly
back to bed
ok its jsut a cold/allergies
it sNOT like i am in Bosnia dodging sniper fire LOL
oh dear, WHY? why did she have to LIE about that??
yuk
ok more soup and sleep

What's up in KANSAS, MAASU that is what

eating my local organic kansas bfast at the local organic co-op
lawrence kansas has a co-op? local, organic co-op?
complete with store display of totally cool bikes with organic HonesTEA displays with signs and info on just how much gas would be saved if people cycled to work
or even just cycled to the train station.
apparently 100's of billions of gallons of gas could be saved and kabillions of tons of carbon emissions would be eliminated
and think of how lean n healthy our bodies would be
and open and clear our lungs would be
and our water
and
and
meanwhile
we currently get FREE antibiotics and antidepressants and steroids from drinking tap water
in every major city in the USA..
nice
there your free healthcare for everyone
DUH.
maybe its all this chemical free food I've been eating over the last 3 days here at MAASU - Midwest Asian American Student Union
hundreds of students from all the midwest campuses
under on roof
wooping it up
and getting into workshop and getting charged up and passionate
very inspiring to see the next leaders growing their wings
although last nites banquet was more like americas next top asian american models
deckedout for the final nite.
Parry Shen [Better Luck Tomorrow, Brothers and Sisters, Hatchet more] and Danny Cho [from the Budlite superbowl commercial] were also performing/speaking at the event. Great to share the stage with some talented successful asian american artists. I was very inspired by Parry, spoke of his experiences in Hollywood and just the struggle for Asians to even BE in media
much less be represented in a positive way.
danny
ouch
nasty nasty nasty humor
I had to cover my eyes and face
it was watching a wickedly forbidden pleasure
peeking through the cracks in the walls of TABOO
fierce loud racist obnoxious and proud
go danny!
he slaughtered every asian race
except for Filipino and lao cambodian and thai
oh and maybe 20 others but the chinese vietnamese japanese were bitchslapped
and they all laughed at it
funny
painfully funny
ok well
nuff for now
I have to hit a few local antique/salvage spots here in lawrence and then in kansas city
before I hop a plane to east coast
Jersey city
yes,
i moved out of NYC to jersey city
sorta like Kansas side of Kansas city [which apparently is is in -well PRIMARILY in Missouri
the west side of kansas city ACROSS the river in Kansas is well called kansas city
but tis in KANSAS, NOT missouri
Jersey City, is liek kansas sity [kansas side] cuz it is on west side fo Hudson river
but it isnt called kansas city, or new york city
its called Jersey City, NEW FREAKIN JERSEY]
i mean

there isn't a chicago, INDIANA[its called freaking GARY indiana
or there isn't a New York, NJ [jersey city, or hoboken for that matter, but i wont open that can o PATHworms]
or there isn't a Atlanta,FLORIDUH [and like atlanta is hundreds of miles from floriduh
but then again, BUSH was millions of votes away from popular majority
but.. floriDUH
i digress
the city stays in ONE freaking state.
what is that?
what IS up with Kansas? sharing Kansas city with Missouri
or in this case Missouri sharing its leftovers with Kansas
and basically hijacking KANSAS CITY?
who know
ok gonna go
go support local salvage

vendors and

bring and old 1880's piece of a house
back to mine
and add to my touring collection :)
victorian cast iron knob anyone?

cali on fire

I am tentatively headed to UCSD for a conference . Queer Pin@y Conference 2007
but the campus is out of session until further notice due to teh fires. The conference committee is meeting via AIM internet. COntracts are in teh office but inaccessible - scarey to think millions of people in eye of a firestorm. Every time I fly over California it is obvious that the land is really just a desert n not a place that could support millions of people, i guess if not for all the water brought down from Colorado..
unsustainable? ??.. what were they thinking?
I can't even make a joke about thighmaster Suzanne Somers and her "fall scone sale.."
Apparently her home a church and many many other homes have been destroyed..

I have Austin Peay State University next week, no fires there currently. I after seeing Gore's An Inconvenient Truth..i think about NYC and how it will someday be under sea level..New York City will be the new New Orleans. woof

Mourning

Virginia Tech

It is a painful time. I have been watching the news
And I am saddened by this tragedy.
My prayers and thoughts to VT.
SADNESS seeing these vibrant, innocent people killed
BEWILDERED that authorities did not lock down the campus after the initial incident
RAGE at gun laws in our country
FEAR for possible backlash against Asian students.
Who knows why this happened?
I am just stunned, and sad.
Each face I see has a story, and each face has unfulfilled dreams and wishes. And thousands more families, friends and strangers, all touched by this.
It triggers this 9/11 feeling and an empty pit in my stomach, and the staggering, wrestling ‘why?’ in my head and heart.
What kind of abuse did this gunman experience in order to become a person able to commit such a horrific thing? Where does this violence come from?
Today I spent some time cuddled on the sofa watching cartoons with my visiting niece and nephew ages 3 and 6. They are unaware of the tragedy @ VT.
Unaware as they skip and play with something as simple as a chair and dance around it. As I learn how simple it was to buy a gun and walk into a room and open fire.
Surreal. It makes me wonder about the world they are going to enter and about how I can contribute to making a safer planet for them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to families, friends and students at VT and all those touched by this.
