Matthew 9:35-38
The Message --- 35-38Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. "What a huge harvest!" he said to his disciples. "How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!"

Currently Reading
I Was an Eighth-Grade Ninja (Z Graphic Novels / Tomo)
By Andrew Simmons
see related

The run down of the past few days.

*VBS two nights
*Two missionaries slimed by their wives
*Late night movie date with husband to see the latest Batman movie (found the movie quite disturbing, but really intriguing...I do recommend it, but not for young kids at all)
*Trip to visit my grandma's grave in Southern Indiana (impressed Skyler with seeing a few towmbstones for WW I soldiers and a Civil War soldier)
*Visited the Gus Grissom Memorial (could make an interesting little unit study)
*Visited Spring Mill State Park
     *Saw a pioneer village
*Saw racoons, chipmunks, and a snake (we couldn't decide if it was a copperhead or not, guess this would be a good unit study too)
*Stuck our toes in an icy cold stream
*Ate a delicious dinner with Corey's parents
*Decided that we were all very tired of non-stop activity

Back from Appalachia

We are back from Tennessee.  I really enjoy the mountains.  I always have.  We went to our supporting church in Gray, Tennessee.  We had a good time meeting new people.  I hadn't seen my old suite-mate in years from Milligan, so it was sure nice to see her and her husband.  They are expecting their first child in November!  I am so excited for them.  They have been married longer than Corey and I have been, so the new baby will be a big adjustment for them.

We got in really late last night, ore rather REALLY early this morning.  We would have been in sooner, but the ramp in Louisville, Kentucky that puts us on to I-65 was closed.  It would have been nice to have a little more heads up on that.  It cost us a great deal of time to work that one out.

Plans... Today is full of them too.  Lunch date at an Indian restaurant in downtown Indy.  It was "sugoi oishikatta", or very delicious.  We discovered that the farmer's market was open, and we SOOO could not pass that up.

A trip to the grocery store is in order as there is no food in the house due to the vacation.  Then tonight we have a VBS to speak at here in Indy.  The boys will go to learn and we will go to represent our mission.  There will truly be something for everyone!  The VBS is raising money to purchase Japanese/English Children's Bible so we can have plenty on hand for our kids' club events!

Happy Camper

Camp went very well.  Skyler had a blast.  At the end of camp, the counselors gave out awards to each camper.  Skyler was recognized in his group as the most courageous, most caring, and most generous.  The story that came with the generous title was that at the first mission's time, he tried to put his entire canteen card into the offering plate.  That's my boy.  The counselor held him back reminding him that he didn't have to put it all in on the first time.  Skyler told us that he got two snacks total, and then gave the rest to missions the next time the plate was passed.  He had lots of tales to tell, and he had us cracking up over his recap of camp.   Yes, the counselor in charge of Skyler's group made them shower, but Skyler did remember to change his clothes each day on his own!

Tomorrow I will go to an A Beka showing to gather some curriculum for the following year or so.  I have this year covered until March.  I figure to get what I can over with us and save on shipping.  Tomorrow we also have family photos.  Plus we need to pack up for the trip to Tennessee.  We will shove off early on Thursday morning.

Camp

My boy...the oldest one...

He is off at church camp for a few days.  I am so excited for him, and I can't wait to hear all his stories.

In the meantime, Tomo gets some special time, and we are getting ready to go down to Tennessee for a vacation with my parents and to visit a supporting church down there.  The Tennessee church picked us up while on the field, so this will be the first time to visit them, which we are excited about.

July 11

Today is a very special day.  Today Tomo is 2!  We are so proud of our little guy.

Who is Tomo?

Tomo is a friend to one and all.  He loves life.  He loves dogs.  He loves trains.  He loves playing in the sand.  He loves basketball.  He loves his brother.  He loves his parents.  He loves his family.  He loves people.  He communicates very clearly with very few words.  He is quick with a smile.  His presence lights up the room.  He is a little bundle of pure energy.  He runs everywhere he goes.  He jumps every chance he gets.  He has no fear.  He knows no strangers.  He is exuberance personified.

What a blessing he is to us and our family.  Praying for many more birthdays to celebrate with my little guy.
Tomo 2nd
