The greatest news ever!!!

This morning I just was able to contemplate a miracle.  Today in my advanced Hebrew class the professor asked the students if we were willing to cancel the final exegesis paper.  But that is not the miracle.  The miracle was that he was touched in his heart to do it.

You have to know Dr. Bill Griffin in order to appreciate the event.  The guy failed his all-time favorite student in a 5 pages paper just because the kid only used 5 sources and he was expecting at leat from 10-15, in a 5 pages paper.   He doesn't forgive or give chances to anyone.  He thinks that mercy and grace were preformed by Jesus at the cross and that is more than enough for humanity so, he doesn't have to experience those emotions.

But today, today God showed in our class that He is still the ruler over the hearts of men.  And by the power of the Spirit, God Himself touched Griffin's heart and granted us, the students, for writing the hardest paper in the story of this semester.

God is real, and He is good!!!

riding on the bus

riding on the busit is incredible the type of information that you can get when you take the bus.  people from different backgrounds and personalities interact with one another just because they do not own private transportation.  today i took the bus in order to get to school, 2 stops after mine another individual got in as well.  suddenly he called a friend, whom he saw while we were on the ride.  after he stooped talking to his friend, the driver, who knew the person, asked him: who was that.  a friend that was standing in front of that place who used to be a restaurant, he replied.  that was a great mexican restaurant, said the driver; and i agreed, the place used to be "Taco Express," the best authentic mexican restaurant in this city, which unfortunately, closed 2 years ago.  it was a hamburger restaurant before that, said the passenger, and an ice cream factory over 40 years ago.  and now is a pay day loan center, replied the driver.  you see, just for taking the bus i came to know that the place which was one of my favorite restaurants in the world, was an ice cream factory 40 years ago, and a hamburger restaurant few years before being the great "Taco Express."

last 2 bloody weeks...

The last two week could be included within the most memorable seasons of my life.  And it is no because of how great they have been, but instead for they have enumerated some of the very frustrating events in my graduate experience.  Last Tuesday, I'm at the beginning of one of the last courses I have to take in order to graduate.  A big class, almost 35 students in a 3 hrs a day course together, all eager to interact with the all knowledgeable professor who is attempting to unpack the philosophical argument that were being introduced. And suddenly, in the middle of that educational barbaric chaos, my computer breaks down.  Is no longer willing to perform the needed function for which it was purchased.  And I, as an egocentric student, whose only desire is to get the bigger amount of information in order to succeed in my educational career, but not only succeed as a single student, succeed as the best within my context, was feeling pretty unpleased by that series of chaotic atmosphere and events.  But is doesn't end here.

Last Sunday after a wonderful service in church, I'm driving down the street I stopped to get a phone call which I thought it would bring good news.  I answer the call and I here this annoying nerdy voice saying: 'hello…is this Mr. Raymond Gonzalez?'  "Yes!!!" I answered with an impetuous energy.

--'Hi, this is _____ from Geek Squad, your computer's hard drive is pretty damage; there is no way to fix it.  And the only way of doing a back up of the documents you are willing to save will cost you between $250 up to $500.  Do you allow us to proceed?'

--'No, I'll figure something out,' I replied, thinking not thinking about what the guy said, but about what that implied for myself.

It is not only buying a new hard drive, but it really means 4 entire years of graduate level papers, 2 that were running for publication lost; totally lost.  But is doesn't end there.

This weeks Tuesday, I had to turn in a 1 page paper for which I had to read 150 pages in order to answer the professor's questions and I had no computer.  But that was not the problem; the problem was that I had a friend whose plain was landing at 5 pm that day, who also asked me few days before if I was able to driving him to a town an hr away from here.  And my car had one tire in really bad conditions and that day I had to make the change of oil and filter.  So, that day I had to write the paper, go to Wallmart and change the oil and the tire, go back to class present the paper, go out of class, go and pick up my friend, and drive him to Branson.  And I did it, but while I'm driving there, my engine totally fails, it broke down, and I would say that God in His powerful mercy allowed me to drive back home, because the car stopped running when I got to my parking lot.  Of course I thought that the technician at Wall mart did something wrong, but no, I took it there for a check up, and it was not their fault; it was just an old car with high mileage.  And that's pretty much everything.  I'll not fix my car, for is not worth the effort, so I have to buy a new hard drive for my lap top, another external hard drive for doing back ups from now on and a new car.  That's the story of my last 2 bloody weeks.

bloody winter!!!

in 25 years of history the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary has closing its classrooms 2 times...the first time was 6 years ago during that horrible and continued snow storm that hit the Ozarks for several months

and the second time is today...today, we are experiencing one of the most interesting climatological phenomenons, frozen rain...it started last night, and now we have like 3" of ice already...

it is going to be so bad that i received a personal call from one of my school staff announcing me that the Seminary building is going to be closed after 1:30 pm...so i decided to go to start my car, for warming it up, and not even the door unlocked...i had to figured out a way of opening and starting my car...

now i'm going home and finish my paper...

this week is fall break in AGTS...it started last friday and it is over next tuesday...it is the longest and most pefect break you can possibly imagine...and how you think, i'm being lazy...

however, i'm taking a languages class in another college that start classes today, so last night i was studying for that class till 2 am this morning...i woke up at 7 to go to class and drove to college...after 15 mins of being in the classroom the secretary comes in and told us that Dr. Griffin has the flue, so he's not coming to class today...

you know, i'm not upset, because i went to bed 6 hrs ago and have only 5 hrs of sleep in my body...i'm not upset because i spent the night studying, because i like knowledge...why i am really upset is because today was the perfect day for not waking up and i thought about missing class and i did not just because i wanted to be responsible...
