Goodbye to two people dear to me.  My family and I were dealing with the sudden unexpected death of my uncle.  I then got a call that my dad was in the hospital and given just 3-4 weeks to live and dying with pancreatic cancer that spread to his intestines.  When he checked into the hospital with severe abdominal pain, he had no idea he had cancer.  I rushed to Montana to be with him.  I couldn't bare to leave him alone with how scared and shocked he was.  We transferred from the VA hospital to his hometown of Polson, Montana to be in hospice.  I stayed by his side until the end 5 weeks later.  All the way until his final hours he was very coherent but very weak.  The whole experience made me so sad and was such a journey but I wouldn't trade being there for anything.  My dad was very loved by all his family/friends and they were so supportive.  I took so many photos but right now it is too hard to look at them.  I really miss him! (and my uncle too).

My dad was a Jeweler and an artist. He did this his whole life and always told me he has never felt like he worked as he loved what he did.  He loved living in Montana and being around the Native American Culture.  Another big part of him was his love of music, mostly Rock.  He gave his Zune that he loaded 3,700.00 songs on it to my son.  It is so special because they were his choices and it reminds us of him.

I made this card to pass out at his memorial.  I used one of his business cards and the photo I used was a favorite of his.  He had used it when he had his own xanga for his profile pic Here.

memcard

Another note:  As you can imagine, being away for 6 weeks I have a lot to catch up on.  I am catching up on home, clients, etc.... and I will start visiting everyone's xanga.

Thanks for stopping by,

Robin

Robin, I'm so sorry.....It's obvious what a great man he must have been because I see the kind of person he raised you to be. You're a wonderful person and that's a legacy of your father's. Losing someone close is like a never-ending storm, but God has promised there will be a rainbow at the end of this storm. I'll be praying for you.

Robin, Oh sweetheart... I know how close you were with your Dad. And I also know this is a very difficult time for you. I lost my Dad, my hero, 12 years ago and I blamed everyone I could because he was NOT supposed to die and leave me. I was so upset. I missed him so much. Truly I was lost without him. Thank God I had Bob. I just want you to know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. Time heals all wounds. You will never stop loving him but the pain of him being gone will fade over time and you'll have all your favorite memories of him. Hang in there sweetheart!!!! I miss you. ~ Dawn

Dear Robin, I so agree with Dawn.  I just lost my Mom to cancer on Dec. 1st; so I can relate to how you feel. It hurts and I want my Mom back. She was the only person always there for me and with her gone I feel so all alone.  Thank goodness for my husband and my friends. I'd be lost without them. My heart goes out to you and your family. Our prayers are with you. We wish you gods strength to help you though this.  Think of the footprints in the sand. God carrying you right now though this difficult time. I talk to God everyday asking him for help. I'm here anytime you need someone to talk to.  There is not a day that goes by that I can't stop asking God for Mom back.  What does help is that I know she is not suffering anymore.  Call me or email me anytime you need someone to talk to. We can help each other though this difficult time.

God bless you and keep you safe, Cathy Ann Erickson

Robin:

No words can express how we feel after loosing someone we loved so much. My Aunt just passed a couple of weeks ago and I had the chance to photograph her with family just a week before she died. My mom has lost her baby sister and at the age of 79 I am now worried that my mom has given up. Its hard too since we live so far away from our families too.

My father passed 35 years ago, and it always seems like it was yesturday until I look in the mirror and see his face looking back at mine. Know that you have friends that are here for you and care about you. If you need anything I live close by, Im sure you know that we are all friends of the Lydells here in Roseville. May God Bless you, hold you, and comfort you in his arms at the sad time in your life.

When I lost my father, just 3 months ago now, someone gave me a card that said: "Where there is love, there is peace..." It really summed up for me the experience of loving someone as purely as I could and helping them cope with an end-stage illness. You gave yourself and your father a great gift by being with him and helping him. It is hard losing someone so special to us. But the love you have shared and the love you receive from all those who love you will bring you solace. Bless you, Robin. I am so sorry for your loss. Your father was obviously a dear man. Sorry, too about your uncle.

Robin, I'm so sorry for your losses. I have lost both parents, and even though it's been four years since my Dad passed away and almost 24 since my mom passed on, I still miss them. It will get easier, but there will always be a hole there. I am so thankful you were there with him at the end, I know that was a real blessing to him. The card you made is beautiful. May our Lord comfort you, as only He can comfort. Blessings on your day!

I know in my heart that your father was absolutely proud of the woman you have become!  I admire your strength during these last few months with all of the trials you have had to face.  The memorial card you made was absolutely wonderful!  I hope you are able to get everything back on track after your absence.  Please know that my thoughts, heart and prayers are with you!  You are truly and amazing woman, mother, photographer and friend!

I have a lump in my throat as I read this. Knowing that you left your home family and business to take care of your Dad is such a trememdous gift to give him. He must have felt so comforted having you right by his side. So much sadness in your life these past weeks. I hope you have found some comfort in knowing he must have appreciated your presence in ways that you just can't possibly find words for.

We all have missed you and glad you have been able to blog about it and allow us to come around and comfort you, now.

Love Kerri

@lydellphoto - Hi Kerri, Andrew is going to be living and working up in WA.  He has to get the experience and training through the hospital he is at now.  He wants to eventually get his license for California and move back.  That is if he doesn't meet a girl up there and stay up there.  I miss him a lot and if I fly him down here, he said he will help with weddings.  He'll be an expensive assistant, LOL.

Hello Robin,

Just think that neither your father or your uncle can suffer anymore. And don't be sad, they wouldn't want you to be.

Just keep them both close to your heart and they will never leave you.

Hi Robin....

How are you doing? I cant tell you how many times I have thought of you in the last month. If thoughts were able to be sent your in box would have been full! But alas thoughts dont and I feel badly that I didnt make a better effort to stop what I was doing at the time you came to mind and just planted myself. I can just imagine how much you have had on your plate with being gone so long.

When you get a chance let me know how you are doing....and what you are doing...

Love Kerri

@lydellphoto - OH Kerri you are so sweet!  Yes it is very overwhelming how much I am behind.  Still dealing with family things as my mom's breast cancer came back.  We better get together before the heart of the wedding season comes.  I am going to give you a call.  Thanks for checking in on me.

Love,

Robin

Oh I am so sorry to hear that your mom is dealing with this after all everyone has been through this year already. I hope you are taking care of yourself. Yes, I hope we can get together. Our first wedding is on Brian's birthday May 17. This Saturday is Mark's 50th birthday then we are doing the David Girard thing on Sunday. Maybe we can get together?

Robin, thank you for taking the time to share this very difficult experience with your xanga family. I am blown away by how God uses the life experiences of one person to touch the lives of so many. I am very sorry for the loss of your father and your uncle. May God shower your family with comfort in this time of grieving.
