Ghost Hunters Conference Victoria, BC July 6-9th, 2008

Since there is no way to submit news items here, I’m commenting instead. There’s a ghost hunters conference happening in Victoria, BC, on July 6-9th, 2008. It’s happening in the Fairmont Empress Hotel, in the inner harbour and has a variety of guest speakers, from a local historian — John Adams to paranormal professor extraordinaire — Loyd Auerbach. Ami Bruni from TAPS Beyond Radio is also another. I encourage people to preregister. It’s cheaper than buying event passes at the door.

To preregister and more detailed information, please go to

Thanks Edokun for telling us about this one.

DNA tests exonerate ‘Lizard Man’ in attack

Associated Press

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. - DNA testing has shown an attack on a family van that some blamed on the legendary Lizard Man appears to have been actually done by a domestic dog.

Something chewed up the front fender of Bob and Dixie Rawson’s van in February. Bite marks were left on the wheel wells and blood was found on the vehicle.

The Sumter Item newspaper in Sumter, South Carolina, reported that a veterinary lab in California tested the blood and found it came from a dog.

But Bob Rawson isn’t sure, saying it would have to be one big dog.

Lee County Sheriff E.J. Melvin isn’t convinced either. He thinks it was a coyote or wolf.

Lizard Man became a phenomenon in the area 20 years ago when people began reporting a tall, big-eyed swamp creature. Authorities never figured out exactly what prompted the sightings.

Matthew 7:7-12

READ: Matthew 7:7-12

http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible?language=english&passage=Matthew+7:7-12

Whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. —Matthew 7:12

In May 2006, a man set out from base camp to make his third attempt on Mount Everest. He actually reached the summit, but on his way down he ran out of oxygen. As he lay on the side of the mountain dying, 40 climbers passed him by.

Some say that at such oxygen-deprived altitudes, rescues are too perilous. But others say that climbers are too eager to reach the top and too selfish to help those in trouble.

I wonder what would have happened if someone who passed that stricken climber had said, “I will treat him the way I want to be treated.”

In Matthew 7:12, the golden rule, Jesus gave His disciples the secret to fulfilling the entire Old Testament relational regulations—love others and live for their benefit. He said this in the larger context of all the
radical principles that He had taught up to this point in His sermon (5:17—7:11).

As difficult as it is to live for the benefit of others, Jesus knew His followers could consistently live out this ethic as they drew strength from a righteousness that went beyond duty and outward conformity to rules(5:20). It is a righteousness that can come only from God Himself.

If we are Jesus-followers, let’s walk in His steps—loving others and living for their benefit.

— Marvin Williams

“Google Me” The Movie

Im watching “http://youtube.com/googlemethemovie”,  its really interesting,  one of those documentary movies and the premise for this movie is,  The guy Google’s his name online and then goes and meets the people he finds,  he wants to find out what he has in common with them,  its a very quote “Incredibly Cool” idea and Im loving the whole Idea.

I loved the opening zoom in on Google Earth,  really tongue in cheek,  where can I buy a giant Google Map pin?!

Its an awesome,  fun exploration of Google and how people use it and the fun you can have Googling yourself.

Someone should do a Yahoo version and see how crap the movie would be,  perhaps I smell “sequel.”
