  • There and back again

Some things about my trip back home last weekend:

    1. They should make people wear metal bracelets in the quiet areas of libraries, so as to provide a means of administering a non-fatal electric shock to people who talk too loud.
    2. It is not advisable to wear hiking boots when attempting to engage in activity requiring quick lateral movement and change of direction.
3.When someone says something is an "acquired taste," they really mean that it tastes bad.
    4. For about twenty-four hours after a wedding you may think you want to get married, but you really don't.
    5. Playing Scrabulous has greatly increased my skill at Scrabble, to the point where I can beat my dad, which is sort of an accomplishment for me even though English is his second language and my first.

  • Veepstakes 08

It is now apparent that Barack somehow overlooked me when he was putting together his VP search committee (either that or the offer was lost in the mail). Lucky for him, I've thoroughly vetted the candidates anyway, using Wikipedia, YouTube, and watching videos on CNN and MSNBC. I was going to send my results to him by replying to one of those personal e-mails he sends me periodically asking for money, but I've decided to post it on Xanga instead, since I figure he probably reads my blog to get updates on SYTYCD.

The pundits say he should go with a candidate who either a) is from a swing state b) has strong military cred c) can unify the party or d) is Bill Richardson. I, however, think Barack is confident enough to pick the best candidate available, regardless of whether that candidate fits into any of those categories.

Without further adieu...she's hip, she's charismatic, she agrees with Obama on most policy matters, and she's been in public office since 1986. Give it up for Kathleen Sebelius!

  • Random Stuff

    1. Several people have asked me recently why I'm pretending to be a girl on Xanga. No fraud intended. Firstly, I like pink. It has all the danger and romance of red, but is more accessible because of its softer tone. Secondly, the girl in the picture is Evie Garland, the half-alien from Out of this World who can stop time by touching her fingers. I assume no further explanation is necessary. Thirdly, I need attention really bad.

    2. I've been watching Ninja Warrior on G4, and highly recommend it to anyone reading this. It's a Japanese show--basically just an obstacle course in four stages. But unlike American Gladiator's Eliminator, if you fall, you're eliminated. There have been twenty competitions, but only two people have finished all four stages. I watched Wipeout on ABC 'cuz I thought it might be good. But it was basically just like the name implies. Too focused on the wipeouts and not on the challenge of actually completing an obstacle course.

    3. I noticed the Warriors had the 19th pick in the second round. This is totally unfair. If the playoffs are based on conference record, so should be the order of draft. The Warriors should have had the 14th pick in the round, not the 19th. I'm going to write a strongly worded letter to David Stern. The Warriors could have drafted Malik Hairston instead of Richard Hendrix. Yes, I'm kidding.

So You Think You Can Dance:
So...was I right about Mark and Chelsie H or what? Couple to beat.
And Joshua? Since when were guys with the bodies of linebackers allowed to move like that?
Katie and Will have moved up a couple notches for me. Jury still out on Courtney G.
I'm not sure I've seen Kherington dance yet. All I notice is her smile and those eyes...those lovely eyes...

America's Best Dance Crew (last week):
Extreme Dance Force? Are you kidding me? What the heck was that?
Fanny Pak in the bottom 2? Wake up America! I realize their outfits are ridiculous, but their choreography is out of this world. Maybe if you watched a little less MTV you'd appreciate creativity.
Supercrew---you get my vote for crew of the week. That falling tower thing was sick.
