here are some photos to sum up recent months ... i've not updated in a long time !

this is a photo of my beloved yen yen and her family (she's about 14 here, on the far right). my grandma passed away on may 20. i miss her, but i know i'll see her in Heaven because she accepted Christ in her heart, ten years ago.

this is a pic from middle school camp...these girls will be in 8th grade soon!

i've been learning how to play softball recently - here are some of us from the 'c league' team - so far we haven't lost a game =).

still working at the tv station -- we've been hanging out sometimes as co-workers =).

some of the guys from fellowship with yuli, celebrating her b-day

the old davis roomies hanging out together

it's been nearly four months since i've last updated, and a lot has happened...basically, i'll sum it up in a few points:

1. some losses: my dear dog roxie passed away dec. 13; it was tough to let her go, but our family will always remember her. also, i got mugged on my own block while heading home from work jan. 25th - though quite shaken up, i wasn't physically threatened ... but i no longer have a digital camera and my entire wallet and its contents were taken. i thank God that i was safe throughout all this, and he taught me plenty through the experience. other losses involve people -- a guy from my church and also my brother's girlfriends' mom both passed away from cancer a couple weeks ago after battling with it for a long time.

2. changes and new beginnings: a lot has happened these past few months, but God is faithful. i've officially moved up from our 'neu agape' or 'intro-to adulthood' fellowship to the regular adult fellowship group, which will challenge and push me to get to know more people. i also got a haircut and have just started a new focus of study in sunday school. there have also been a few more babies born at church recently. even the smallest changes can be exciting ones!

3. pressing on: in other areas of my life, things have been relatively routine, that is, it's important for me to maintain balance in my life in order not to feel overwhelmed or too busy to spend time with Him. i'm still plugging away at my work -- things were hectic last month during Chinese New Year season, but have now slowed to a near-lackadaisical pace. i've also continued to meet with my girls' accountability nearly once a week, and my week has consisted of spending time with friends as well as family.

I hope to update more frequently when i have the chance!

here are some pictures ... i'm glad it's easier to upload now =)

for reference: this is my biting dog, aka don chester. here he's trying to look innocent.

a family pic: i'm on the upper left with my cousin cherilyn, then there's jonathan on the bottom, my cousin jeremy in the middle and my younger brother doug.

fun and crazy times at ms fellowship. this is from our survivor camping trip, the kids were falling from a pyramid and leaders are trying to save them.

co-workers from ktsf: elani, me, mike, sally

benson and erica's wedding! (em, benson, erica, me)

i'll post more later! =)

here's 20 random facts about myself (giegie tagged me). i noticed lately there have been lots of these 'taggings' going on, i guess we can't avoid it!

1. i sniff my hair at random times throughout the day, sometimes i don't even realize i'm doing it until someone points it out ... i guess i smell my hair when i'm bored, anxious, want to smell something better than skunks, etc.

2. i have an near obsessive compulsion to brush my teeth a lot and i need to go to the bathroom at least twice before i actually fall asleep. i would ideally like to brush my teeth every time after i eat something, but this is not always possible -- so i settle for eclipse gum. i suppose this is because i don't like to have a food taste in my mouth, and i don't like to have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

3. i always like to carry around 'treats' in my purse or bag -- anything from gum, candy, chips, drinks, etc. one time in sunday school i set out all my snacks on the table and someone called me a 'walking corner store.' i guess this is because i never like to feel unprepared in case i get hungry, and i like to share food and candy with others.

4. i love checking my e-mail and feel giddy when i receive a personal note or message from various friends, especially if it's just on the fly - like just today i received an e-mail from someone i haven't heard from in a while =).

5. kids at ms fellowship brighten my heart, and bring out the silly side of me.

6. i like to dance to my own beat especially when i hear catchy songs,  (at ms camp i had a dance-off with another leader - including break dancing and cheerleader moves!)

7. i use my 'passion fruit' lotion a lot because i like the smell of it.

8. i read my bible while i'm waiting for the bus to go to work in the morning.

9. people say i have a quirky sense of humor (i agree) -- the silly side comes out especially after 11pm.

10. i like to learn about and study history, especially about the asian american experience, and like to hear people's testimonies of how they came to know Christ.

11. i like to save the last bits of things (or not finish things), whether it's food, drinks, lotion, shampoo, etc., perhaps because want to hold onto the experience it gave me  -- such as a good book or movie. i eventually finish it, but i can delay it for a time. i can watch a movie in parts, that is, i can watch half an hour and go to sleep, and perhaps not watch it again until a week later (but i can also watch an entire movie if i'm with other people.)

12. i love the 80s! well, music, movies, and some of the fashion (i like to shop for bargains too). i also just love music in general; i used to play the cello and piano.

13. i'm extremely ticklish, even if someone makes a tickling motion but doesn't touch me.

14. i like to share deeply with sisters in Christ who don't mind being vulnerable, but it takes time to cultivate the relationship.

15. i'm a closet messy person (i guess it's out now) -- just like monica on friends. people think i'm neat and organized, which i can be at times, but my room tends to get on the sloppy side especially on the weekends.

16. my first instinct is to deal with conflict in a passive agressive manner, but i've been learning how better to deal with conflict in the 'basic life principles' seminar at fellowship.

17. i used to be terrified of any and all dogs when i was younger, but now i have two dogs, including one who has been known to bite people; don't worry, we always prevent him from seeing people (except this weekend chester nearly attacked yuli, and i had to jump between them).

18. i like to write to express my thoughts or convey ideas to others.

19. i like to cook and bake things, and my favorite food is chicken.

20. i try to look on the positive side of things, and don't mind lending a listening ear to folks who just want to talk.

these are my 20 bits for now ... hmm, i will now tag:

i took a spiritual gifts test yesterday at small group. i had taken one before but results have changed from last year.  my three highest last year were hospitality (caring for people and making them feel at home), mercy (having compassion and a heart for others), and giving (ability to manage finances and give to others).  Yesterday my highest were hospitality again, exhortation (encouragement), and teaching/knowledge (ability to take various bible concepts and present them in an understandable manner).

my experiences and God's work in my life since last year are reflected in the spiritual gifts He's blessed me with. taking the test helps me to evaluate how i can serve Him in various ministries and it was interesting that there was a representation of nearly every spiritual gift among people in small group. we also had to first go around the room writing down what we thought other people's top three spiritual gifts were before we took the test.  people put hospitality, helps (supporting other ministries), and evangelism for me.

thanks to Him for sustaining me during the rough moments, and for His patience with and mercy on me when my pride, selfishness, and sins consume me.
