Went to a funeral

I went to a funeral of a 17 year-old this week.  He had Asperger's Syndrome.  He was bullied his whole school life.  He felt that he could not fit in with his peers.  He could not take it any more.

This was probably the hardest thing for me to attend. This young man just needed some friends to accept him for who he was.  He was a little different.  He could not understand all of the social cues that we take for granted.  He did not like change.  Because of all of this he fought depression.  He had so much to give to society.  But now he can't.

I worry so much about Aaron.

My Hero

I have a new hero.  I have always been proud of her especially working full time and getting her Master's with great grades.  But after volunteering in her classroom today because she was short a paraprofessional.  I went home after one half a day totally exhausted and totally amazed.  I am not sure how Jan does it every day.  How did she go to classes after teaching?   I have decided that my wife is from another planet.  She is some type of superwoman.  She teaches a multihandicapped classroom  with 8 wonderful children who have an assortment of needs and medical conditions.  Four of them are in wheel chairs and the other four are on foot.  She has only 2 paras in her room and I think they are at least 5 short.  One will be gone part of the day while taking a couple of the students to inclusion, leaving Jan and one para with 6 children (4 in wheelchairs).  All of her class need special love and attention.
She deals with frustrations by the children who cannot communicate all of their needs.  She deals with meds and feeding tubes. She deals with diapers and orthopedic braces. She deals with teachers in their building who don't want her students, outdated technology, unreasonable mandates by a clueless legislature.  But she will not give it up.  She loves her class.  She could handle a regular ed class with ease, but has a a passion for special kids.  She is my hero.  Give me a class of middle schoolers anytime before I have to teach her class.  I love the kids, but I do not have the energy.

Ripper Bowl.  That is what I would call it.  Some of the worse calls I have ever seen.  How can they call a personal foul on a tackle by a quarterback?  Some of the worse coaching I have ever seen.  The best team in the NFL was obviously the Colts.

I had to sit in a meeting today that was a total waste of my time.  To make matters worse the big boss was not even in the state.  A mandatory meeting and he was not there.  Oh well.  I have to go back tomorrow instead of judging a science fair. Pray for me.  These meetings are really getting to me.  I am really searching for God's will about being a Pastor.  I love my ministry with the youth in our state.  I love camp, YEC, super summer and helping churches.  I hate meetings and spinning my wheels.
