Chapter 2

(3 months later)

Aria would be coming home in three days and Lysandros couldn’t wait.  While Aphra provided company she was not yet mature enough to be an understanding companion.  Aria on the other hand was the best huntress and most understanding companion.  Even though Aphra was not a compassionate and understanding she had something that Aria didn’t that made Lysandros feel an uncanny chemistry between the two of them.

“Knock Knock,” Aphra yelled as she entered his apartment, taking him away from his thoughts.

Lysandros looked up at Aphra and said, “It’s 5 am on a Saturday no less.  What the hell are you doing here?”

“Well, I thought you might like to know what happened the first night I patrolled alone.”

“Right!  I forgot I told you to come to the apartment afterwards, sorry.”

“It’s alright.  This morning I over heard Zenobios and Panthea conspiring with a vampire that was changed only a little over three years ago.”

“What’s this new vampire’s name, and feeding style?”

“Well, her name is Abira and while she is from the Catlyn line and live among those of the Catlyn line she physically can’t feed off of human blood, so she is forced to feed like an fledgling of an Achava line.”

“That’s very unusual.  The name Abira sounds very familiar, I can’t think of why though.  Would you happen to know?”

“When she died her name was all over the news because, she had been “kidnapped” and had been reported to be murdered by her “kidnapper” that was never found.”

“That would explain where I’ve heard the name before.”

“Thought it would.”

“On Tuesday, Aria is going to come over to catch up with me.  You are welcome to come and visit with her with me for a half hour or so.”

“I may take you up on that.  I don’t know though.  If I come I come if I don’t I don’t.”

“Ok.  I have to go to bed now.  I’m exhausted.”

“Alright.  See you Monday.”

“Good night.”

“Good night.”

Aphra walked out the door down the stairs to the bike rack.  She unlocked her bike and rode home.

Lysandros walked to his room stripped down to his boxers and flopped onto his mattress.  He fell asleep almost as soon as he hit his mattress.

Monday

Aphra ran up the stairs to Lysandros apartment.  She’d been having a feeling that something or someone was watching her since she snuck out her bedroom window.  When she got to his apartment door, Aphra pulled out her key and let herself in.  Once she was in she nearly slammed the door shut and locked it.

Aphra turned around and saw Lysandros talking to someone she had never seen before.  He was a black young teenager that seemed too lively for this time of night.  Both males stared at her for a moment, then she broke the silence that had been going on sense she met the strangers eyes, by saying, “Who’s he, Lysandros?”

“He’s my good friend Christian.”

“Hi, Christian.  I’m Aphra.”

“Oh, I assumed that Lysandros and I have been talking about you and Aria this evening.”

“Really?”

“Yes, We have been.  Aphra go stretch and warm-up in the training room.  I’ll be there as soon as Christian and I finish our conversation.”

“Ok, but first, there’s something I think you ought to know.”

“What is it?”

“Ever since I left my house I’ve had a feeling that someone’s been following me.”

“Aphra, have I not taught you that when ever that happens look and see who or what is following you?”

“You have and I did.  I saw nothing.”

“That’s odd.”

“It is very odd.  I think one of us should accompany her home so she doesn’t get attacked.”

“If they wanted to attack her they already would have.”

“What are you to talking about?” Aphra asked exasperatedly.

“We’re talking about the new order,” Christian replied

“And what is the “new order”?”

“The new order is a group of vampires that have Silver blood,” Lysandros said impatiently.

“Meaning…”

“Silver blood is an expression used when you’re talking about psychological powers in a human, witch, and now a vampire,” Christian replied in a repetitive sort of way.

“Ok.  So why wasn’t I told about this before, Lysandros?”

“Because I’d only heard rumors and wasn’t sure if it was true or not until now.  And we found out that Zenobios, Panthea, and that girl, Abira, you mentioned the other night are three in it and are all fairly important members.”

“What do you mean by “Fairly important members"?”

“What Lysandros means is that Panthea started somehow started it, invited Zenobios to join, and Abira is how Zenobios got silver blood, because while she was human she also had psychological powers.”

“So basically, because she’s a vampire and doesn’t quite understand what’s going on, Abira is just going along with the whole thing.”

“Exactly.  Now, Aphra, Please go warm-up.”

“Alright, Alright! Jeez! Chill.”

Aphra warmed-up in the work out room and waited for Lysandros.  When Lysandros finally came he asked, “Are you ready to spar?”

“Yeah.”

Lysandros yawned, walked towards his room, stripped down to his boxers, and went to bed.  His alarm clock was set to go off at 6pm at that time Aphra was supposed to call him so they could plan their first meeting after she was back on her feet and back in school.  His last thoughts as he drifted off to sleep where of what the next few months held for him.

At 6pm Lysandros’ alarm clock went off.  He got up and walked to the other side of the room where is alarm clock was and turned it off.  Right as he turned of his alarm clock the phone began to ring.  He ran to his phone that was down the hall in the kitchen.  He picked it up and answered, “Hello?”

“Hi! It’s Aphra.”

“Oh, hey Aphra! How are you doing?”

“Pretty good so far.  I should be back in the hell hole, I mean school, in about a week.”

“So, does that mean you want to start training then or do you want to wait until you have gotten back into the school habit?”

“I’d like to wait until I’ve gotten used to school again…so give me two weeks from now and we’ll start.  How often do we want to meet?”

“At least once a week.”

“So, how about every Monday and Thursday night at midnight? Does that work?”

“It should…Why so late though? We can start at 10pm if you want to.”

“Well, I kinda sorta have to sneak out…my parents would flip if I left that late…they would know too!”

“Alright so, we’ll just meet then so you don’t get in trouble.  Oh, bye the way before we can get to the physical training we have to start with the mental training. Such as how to kill a vampire, and what vampires are enemies and which are friends, or not problems for us to worry about.  After that we start your conditioning.”

“Ok, I get the mental preparation, but conditioning?”

“You need to have endurance, physical strength, and balance.”

“So, what kinda conditioning do I have to do?”

“Well, for starters you’ll need to run, to gain endurance.  Then you’ll need to lift weights and do palate stretches, to gain strength.  After that I’ll get one of my friends to teach you ballet, so you will have balance.”

“So, after all that happens I’ll be ready to begin the real training?”

“No, all of the preparation is the “training”, the actual fighting part is called practice.  Once you’ve practiced for a month you’ll be ready for your first hunt.  But you’ll have a simple mission because it’s your first time out there.”

“So how long will the conditioning take?”

“It will take about 3 months…”

“But that’s 4 months!”

“I know how long it is, Aphra, and I also know if you do some of the work out side of this apartment and if you put forth a lot of effort it can and probably will go faster.”

“How much faster?”

“Maybe, a month faster.”

“Well, I have to go eat see you later.”

“Bye.”

They hung up, both wondering what they had got them selves into and unsure of what this next year would bring them.  But they also knew it would only be worse than it actually was if they made it that way, so both resigned to make this as quick and simple as possible.

So what do you think? Any good?

Hey all sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday!

Love ya!

“Oh, shut up, Lysandros, I can take you any day, but anyone stronger is another story,” she said teasingly while punching his shoulder.

“Sure you can, you’ve just let me win every time we’ve sparred since I started training you…” Lysandros replied sarcastically.

“Do you want me to put your blood in the fridge?”

“Ha, you know I’m right! That’s why you changed the subject, and yeah I would like you to, thank you very much.”

“You are so infuriating at times!” Aria groaned in annoyance.

“GASP!  Aria used a big word!  She’s actually learning something in college.  This is exciting!” he mocked her teasingly.

“Oh, does Lysandros not know what infuriating means because it’s too big of a word for him so he decided to mock me instead of admitting he didn’t know?”

“I’ve been around a whole lot longer than you have.  Of course I know what infuriating means!”

Aria stuck her tongue out at him and said, “Seriously though why is Panthea here?”

“I’ve been asking around since I saw her and no one knows.”

“Wow, that’s really odd…”

“I know it is.  That’s the main reason why I asked you to avoid her.”

“Sorry, Lysandros, but I have to get going I still have some packing I need to do before I leave tomorrow”

“Yeah, you know I’m gonna miss you a lot though right?”

“Of Course! Who wouldn’t miss me?”

“Very funny!”

“I know I am”

“You wish!”

“I’ll stop bye tomorrow morning before I leave.”

“Alright I’ll see you then.”

“Bye”

Aria walked out of his apartment door and left.  He would miss her, more than she realized.  She was like a sister or best friend to him.  Lysandros wondered what kind of trainee Aphra would be.  The young girl had spunk; he knew that for sure from talking to her on the phone the other night, so it would at least be interesting and possibly challenging.  Aphra was about 5’ 2”, had long, brown, shiny, curly, hair, hazel green eyes, and a beige skin tone. She was a bit of a rebel from what he could tell by talking to her she had a worse attitude then Aria had ever had at anytime.  He couldn’t wait to start training her.

Tell me what you think!

What's wrong with wishful thinking?
