Creepers
I just came to xanga to comment and do a little housecleaning. for some reason, I can't think of anything interesting to blog about.
I finished a book today. is that interesting?
On a chilly October night, five people gather in a run-down motel on the Jersey shore and begin preparations to break into The Paragon Hotel. Built in the glory days of Asbury Park by a reclusive millionaire, the magnificent structure, which foreshadowed the beauties of Art Deco architecture, is now boarded-up and marked for demolition.
The five people are “creepers,” the slang term for urban explorers: city archeologists with a passion for investigating abandoned buildings and their dying secrets. On this evening, they are joined by a reporter who wants to profile them – anonymously, as this is a highly illegal activity – for a New York Times article.
Balenger, the sandy-haired, broad-shouldered reporter with a decided air of mystery about him, isn’t looking for just a story, however. And after the group enters the rat-infested tunnel leading to the hotel, it becomes clear that he will get much more than he bargained for. Danger, terror, and death await the creepers in a place ravaged by time and redolent of evil.

well, we all knew it would happen sometime....
Sammy laid egg #30 on the fourth of July and #31 yesterday. I have a feeling she's working on another one. oh well. *shrugs* I really didn't think I could shut her off forever, and considering she laid 29 eggs in the 9 months prior to March 8th, I guess I should be happy.
She's sassing at me and flapping her wings right now, so I guess I'd better go feed her :P
Things are good here. I enjoyed my week off work and my four day work week last week. 5 days this week just might kill me. arrrrrrgh~!

bloom alert~!
I'm glad a few of you remembered the fun we had years ago with the SouthPark character creator. still confused? click here to jog your memory.
Now on to the new stuff. Ever hear of a corpse flower? it's usually a big deal when one of them blooms. and guess what? there's one getting ready to do just that at my old alma mater~!
A web page has been created to track its growth and provide daily updates, and I find myself checking in several times a day to make sure I don't miss anything. there's even been a webcam installed so you can stare at it 24/7 if you so chose.
Since I'm on vacation next week and Z was interested in visiting the campus, I thought I might try to sneak a peak while it was in bloom. but now they're estimating that it will bloom tomorrow night, so I think I'm gonna hafta miss it. oh well, there's always the webcam. too bad they don't have 'smellivision'.
