| So...it's been a long time since I've posted.

Today's theme is...tired. :) Not that this is a complaint.
I awoke to the sound of tornado sirens at 4 something a.m. I envisioned our beautiful tree in the backyard falling on our house in light of the last ice storm, where branches fell from it everywhere. We plan to have it cut down (we planned to do this when we purchased the house) a little further in time away from the storm when the prices go down. Tree services have no shortage of work right now. The warning expired at 5 a.m. So not able to open my eyes this morning. :) I'm in need of some hot tea.
How much activity can be packed into one night? I stayed a bit late at work since yesterday was full of meetings and a party, which was fun, but I had a few things I wanted to accomplish. Then I went to pay a bill. Went home, talked to my dear husband, and prepared in record time for my meeting with the girls. I brought all of them waters, and they were grateful. We talked about friends and friendships last night. It's not something they have thought about too indepth'ly, but I shared some examples from my own life, and we had lots of moments where I could see it all clicking in their eyes, and they began to open up a little more in discussion. Those are such great moments.
There are many things we don't realize until later in life when we can process them. Studying psych has helped me analyze those things, so I want the girls to learn to do that early. As always when intro'ing a topic I asked them what they wanted to talk about. One of the girls brought up a mystifying and confusing aspect of friendship. It's what I call "friendship drift." Just a normal part of life that we accept. So I'm excited to talk about that one. I approached with them the idea of expectations, communication, and disappointment (all related, of course) in friendships. So next week we're going to analyze our expectations, and I'll make a little quiz to help them realize what role they usually play in their friendships. Role as in, you know, like the listener, the drama queen, the advisor, stuff like that. Unscientific, but just stuff to help them be smart and intentional about everyday things that affect their lives.
After that we went to purchase some parts for our NEW DISHWASHER(!), visited with my Mom at her place, stopped by the store, finished up with a good [at least a] mile run. The pre–tornadic weather was perfect for running in. Cool beachlike breezes. I felt good. I have had so much junkie food within the last few days, so I needed that run and the one I'll get in tonight. It's been bad: cookie monster, brownies topped with sugared cream cheese & fruit, mmm hummus from the Mud Lounge, spinach artichoke dip, etc. I'm not much into feeling guilty, but I am much into balance.
I have now received both my Cookie and Cottage Living magazines. Cottage Living in particular makes me happy to look through. See these two pages I excerpted from the last online sub issue, and you'll see why.

Happy Birthday today to 1 year old Avery. The daughter of my greatest roommate besides Shawn.

Our friends' little daughter Emma just had her cast taken off, and I had to share how cute she is in her stunt girl shirt. It reads "I do all my own stunts." Her mama, Sandra, informs us that Monkey George accompanied her. After it was all over she got a gift from her Mom and Dad, which was her first My Little Pony. We are told she enjoyed brushing "donkey's" hair, which is what she calls it. Sandra always has such cute stories to share, and so I just had to pass this one along.
| Sorry, you had to put up with that candy shop background for far too
long. ;) I haven't been updating b/c I've been attracted to my blogspot
lately.
So uh...here's a new update. ;)
