Wow.

I was in New York for 5 days, without internet connection.

Why?

Well, there's this conference for Asian Americans, called "New York Summer Conference". (Huh. Imaginative name there) It's for Asian American believers of all ages to get together and just worship God. It's my first time, but I went with a bunch of people from my church. (We were split up into 3 sections - youth, college and career, and adults)

I'll tell you, it was AWESOME. I had a lot of fun, and not just because I was without my family (Huge family, for those who don't know. Bug me all the time. JUST KIDDING). God did speak to me while I was at the conference, and it was what I needed to hear. (That makes no sense. When he speaks, it's always what we NEED to hear) So what did I learn?

I learned:

1. That I shouldn't push myself too hard. I don't mean the pushing to get good grades, or being nicer to people, but the perfectionism that I know some of you feel at times. "I have to be PERFECT. I have to get everything right. EVERYTHING. If I don't, then I'll never forgive myself." You know what I mean? I'm by nature introverted, and I tend to get awkward talking to people, although it's been getting better. When I get awkward and tongue-tied, I tend to really beat myself up over it. REALLy really beat myself up. It's not good. Also, I tend to beat myself up if I don't get the grades I want. "A. How come not A+?"

2. I learned that I can be someone who can inspire others, and a person who other people can talk to and like. I learned this at midnight sometime during the conference. I'm not gonna mention any names, but there's 2 girls in my church that are younger than me. We're good friends. They came to the conference with me. Anyway, I went to bed at 11:30, and fell asleep. At midnight, I heard this loud BANGING on my door. (I was in a room for one person. Single bed and all that. Like a prison cell.) I opened it, "What do you want?" And I saw Jasmine and Jane (oops) huddled behind trash cans in the hallway. They came in and asked me for gum. When they left they forgot to turn off the lights. I think they did it on purpose. Anyway, i was kind of flattered, because this means that they like me. =) Funny way of showing it, but that's how 7th graders are. (I see this thing happen to henry a lot, too)

Add to that Tina asking me to pick an eyelash out of her eye.

3. I learned that I can sing. Well, sort of. I learned that I can sing not with my throat. So after all that singing, my voice wasn't shot.

4. I READ TWILIGHT!!!!!!! My next door neighbor in the dorms had it. I LOVE IT!!!!! I love EDWARD CULLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No More Words

Watch it.... I really like this song and I really like this video.

And guys, don't worry. I'm still alive. I have an exam tomorrow morning and a Final exam on Thursday, and then two more lab classes the next week (including an exam) and it'll be all over!!!!

There are some words that are really really hard to say. They may be "I love you" or "I'm sorry, please forgive me" or words of appreciation, or something else.

QUESTION: Why are those words so hard to say? Do you think there may be a reason why some words are so hard to say? What words are hard for you to say?

By the way, I may not be posting as much until this Biology course is over. 2 more weeks! Yay! I hope I get an A. Thanks for all the comments!

Cute and wanted, huh?

m132928859

Cute, right? ^__^

Henry... you ARE cute. In spite of your square face [^___^] and spiky hair. Or maybe because of them?

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

m132927509

But even more than that... you've helped me a lot, and countless others as well. I love how you're always ready to listen when someone needs counsel. I love how you always take time to pray for others. It's awesome how you always throw yourself into something that needs to be done... the way you give it your all. I think it's amazing how you always put others first, even though you may be busy or tired... or when your stomach is eating itself from the inside. (HOW MANY TIMES MUST I TELL YOU THAT YOU SHOULD EAT BREAKFAST?????????????? AND THEN ON SUNDAYS YOU SKIP LUNCH AS WELL BECAUSE YOU'RE JUST SO DARN BUSY TALKING TO PEOPLE!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRR) Sometimes when you do that, you might forget all about taking care of yourself (it's true, isn't it?) but you don't mind at all.

m132928837

On top of that, you have an awesome sense of humor. You can always make me laugh. Even when I'm mad at you. You can just say the silliest things so unexpectedly. But I'LL GET YOU BACK SOMEDAY!!!!!! That's definitely cute. I guess.

m65324436

You love taking on challenges. Remember that time when you climbed that mountain and almost died? (That was scary. Please please don't do something like that without being properly prepared....) Sometimes it just seems that you simply cannot resist one.

m132926325 (this mountain is Mt. Washington. Not the one you almost died on)

Sometimes there are times when you'll doubt yourself. Can I really do this? But you keep on going without looking back.... in spite of your doubts. Because you know that you have a God who loves you and who died for you.... and that's why you move forward in spite of your inadequacies and failings. Sure, you've made a lot of mistakes. I've seen them. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone falls. But who would pick themselves up afterwards and keep on trusting that God does have a plan?

m132926937

Henry, I can think of several ways your friendship has helped me. You've inspired me in a lot of things, and you still continue to inspire me.

However I can't think of a single way my friendship has helped you out. Except:

1. Your throwing skills rock. Target practice every Friday and Sunday has helped you out some. Me = target

2. Your kung fu skills rock. Me = used for practice

3. Your sheets of various music is neater. (Was. You messed it up immidiately. )

4. You have a great source of amusement. (me. WELL IT'S TOO BAD I'M CLUMSY!!!!!!)

5. Everyone knows about you now. (Is that a good thing?) By the way, this is his xanga. Post stuff on that last post there. I thought it was wonderful and its something that NEEDS to be heard ------> Henry's xanga (oh by the way, he got featured on revelife.com. I'm so jealous.)

Do you have someone to protect?

This weekend I watched the 3rd InuYasha movie : Swords of an Honorable Ruler, or Tenka Hadou no Ken. I think this is my favorite movie so far. (Except for the fact that Inu no Taishou looked like Sesshomaru... i wanted him to have big eyes like InuYasha!)

_index-movie_3
-------------------------------

Sesshomaru: Are you going, father?
Inutaisho: Are you going to stop me, Sesshomaru?
Sesshomaru: I am not going to stop you. However, before that, I would like the fangs Sou'unga and Tetsuseiga to be handed over to me.
Inutaisho: If I say I won't give them to you... would you kill your own father?

[Sesshomaru is silent]

Inutaisho: Do you desire power that much? Why do you seek power?
Sesshomaru: I must travel the path of conquest... power is necessary in order to walk that path.
Inutaisho: Conquest, huh? Sesshomaru, is there something you want to protect?
Sesshomaru: The answer is no. I, Sesshomaru, have no need of such.
The Honorable Ruler

-----------------------------------

Yeah, sure right. Sesshomaru was in that class of people who view people like Rin and Jaken as liabilities. Annoying, always getting in the way... and in a way that's true. It's hard to fight someone when you've got a little girl tagging along and always getting kidnapped and such. It's easy to be all by yourself and fight for whatever you want however you want. There's no one there to go, "Sesshomaru - sama! Help!!!" while you're in the middle of an important battle. (And then you have to drop what you're doing and go save that person....)

But at the same time, having someone beside you forces you to look at yourself in a way that you wouldn't do if you were alone. It forces you to look at your strengths and weaknesses. You have to look at how your actions affect that person, and the consequences of what doing a specific technique or whatever could do to that person. You might not care about what happens to yourself as much because you know you can take it and still survive. But can that person survive? It forces you to go down to that person's level and look at things through that person's eyes... something you wouldn't care about if you had been alone.

And sometimes, it forces you to accept that you can't do everything alone.

Like InuYasha trying to go off and destroy the sword all by himself. Kagome was angry at that. I would have been. He was getting all heroic "I have to destroy this sword all by myself and save the world!" but when Kagome told him that he could only do that if he paired up with Sesshomaru, "No way am I gonna do that!" I'm not going to stoop down and do that, no way.

(It's too bad that I don't have the exact quote now.) "Sure, I may be hanyou, but I have someone to protect, and that's what gives me the strength to fight. Sure, I may have human blood within me, and it's the humans who are all egotistical, prideful, and hungry for power, but it's because of that human blood from my mother that I'll NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!"

Meanwhile, Sesshomaru kept on thinking about that. "Do you have someone to protect?" Did he?

"Do you have someone to protect?"

Sesshomaru Smiled!

Look at yourself. Don't be so selfish. You know you need someone to protect. Everyone does. Stop fighting for a moment there, and give up your pride. Don't do it for yourself alone.... do it for THEM.

Pretty Demon

Who are you to say that you don't need anyone?

Get out of the way

"I, Sesshomaru, have nothing to protect!"

But he did, and he knew that.

sesshomaru

So do I.

"Do you have someone to protect?"
