Neo Josef K新加坡《海峽時報》首席中國特派員程翔日前因為間諜罪成，被內地法院判監5年 Have been waiting for this trail for more than four hundred days. Doubtlessly, many people would weep over the painful and sarcastic result. The case so far remains an enigma. Nobody knows how is going on with 程翔, how come the government has punished him as treason for interacting with a fairly prominent reseach unit in Taiwan, which many scholars in HK and even China have been interacting for along time..... The whole issue reminds me a compelling novel I had read long time ago, The Trail by Franz Kafka. In the novel, Josef K was arrested one morning witout done anything wrong. From then onwards, K was trying hard to defend himself by fetching a lawyer, paying bribes to connections, dating for sources. However, the whole case seemed to be a secretive trail. K slightly had any idea on his charge, and his leaked rumour. Ridiculously, there was no exact place and notice for any court briefing. No result will be released after his defend. He was finally arrested one day by several officials with sharp knives. At the hands of those officials, a knife was driven into K's throat, then his heart. Finally, died "like a dog" as K said. Is triumph over the power of the evil? is that the damn surviving motto of contemporary world? why would this kind of insanity still exist in China? when will we end this neo totalitarianism? If China does not have a justified judicial system, how long would fake capitalism keep its economy afloat? P.S. just a tiny talk back to my friend, if life is full of bewilderment, then sometimes even countries have bewilderment. It may go global. But to personal and minimal level, we should never give up. we should keep yelling this when we are still young. aren't we? :) |
